It was peaceful where we spent the night. Everything was neat and clean. The bathroom door was rubbing on the floor, but there is a maintenance ticket where we reported it. Sunday morning we had no hot water. I suspect there was no more gas in the cylinder.
I suspect the gas for the geyser was out as it wasn't working and I had to take a cold shower on a freezing winter morning. Definitely not something I would suggest to other guests! However, the facilities were clean and the staff very friendly and helpful.

Doing construction work in Newcastle. This is a comfortable place to stay.
From 2014 we stay there every year on the 1st weekend of June for the Newcastle airshow, except for 2020 and 2021 because there was no Airshow. We were always very satisfied. Things did suddenly take a turn for the worse. When we arrived, the keys were outside on a shelf, where anyone could find them, it was about 4 in the afternoon. Water was cold for shower, only one towel, only one side warm blanket worked, also no more breakfast, even on the website it still shows B&B. There is now a young girl running the place. She definitely needs more experience and guidance or the place is going to deteriorate further. 10 bonus points for trying, minus 20 for owners who put her there without guidance. We will try again in 2023 there at Snips.
I stayed for three nights. They didn't clean my room nor make up my bed. The 2nd night they made the bed with the same dirty sheets, towels not changed, room was not thoroughly cleaned even. Due to load shedding and no backup I had to be late in my preparation. That the staff had to knock off and leave nobody to clean. Dirty bins and sheets were an insult. Expecting me to sleep on dirty white sheets from Friday till Monday.
We had a good experience. The place was neat and clean and the surrounding area is very well maintained. Close enough to shopping malls and other stuff, but quiet and peaceful.

Snips provided everything we needed for a great weekend away to attend a wedding, they offer good value for money.
Only problem was that the "extractor fan" in the bathroom was not working and because of this the glass of the shower door was dirty on the inside, but I could overlook that because of the good price and the pleasant environment.

The accommodation was superb and the staff were helpful. However, there was an issue with the gas geysers during our stay. The water would not stay hot. So, we had cold showers on the first night and requested to be moved to another chalet the following day. The geyser in the new chalet seemed to work well, but only if we left the basin's hot water tap running simultaneously. But overall, except for the geyser problems, the premises is beautiful and quaint, and the staff is very friendly.
These are detached houses, some are link houses, braai areas and swimming pool available. Lady at reception is very friendly and helpful. Self-catering units with DSTV.

We read a good review on Snips, but then were surprised to find a completely different picture. Snips only offer very basic accommodation. Don't expect luxury or anything modern. The unit and kitchen only equipped with the basics. Dirty shower. The bed had no head piece so you sleep with your head against the wall. The only mirror was in the bathroom, so it's difficult for women to do their hair and makeup? The windows do not have burglar bars and there is no security gate for the front door. So security wasn't up to standard, just the excuse of a security guard. Snips didn't offer value for money. Very disappointed, wouldn't go again.

The place was comfortable, tidy, very tasty and we felt completely rested and safe. It was also not too close and not too far from our relatives in town. We were also surprised because it was still cheap compared to the other places, but it was still tasty.

It was a great day in my life. But the location is too far from town and you need to have your own transport in order to get there.
I love the set up there, I booked a guest room and mistakenly thought it was self catering units, the people then put me in a chalet so I could cook myself and this despite a very busy week there. At first we were worried about the location. What was our surprise when we discovered it was clean and comfortable. Girl was very friendly and helpful in arranging a taxi to the bus stop for our NZ family. The breakfast was a bit expensive (R75) and that's why we didn't eat there. However, our NZ family had to, because the places to eat are far from Snips. Thank you very much.

We were a large group and travelled to Snips as outing/fun. But caretaker was complaining about bottles and food in the rooms when we were checking out. Question is: were we expected to clean the rooms? That didn't sit well with us, as we had impression that we are allowed to eat and drink in those rooms.
If you want a tranquil and relaxed getaway, this location is perfect. I love the private chalet for myself and enjoy the nature around.

Everything had been good. The food, the accommodation and we were received professionally and kindly. Was very helpful. Would only recommend paying attention to the gas geysers as some of the geysers have been blown to death by the wind. Furthermore, I would stay there again anytime.
It is very peaceful there and you can simply relax after a day's hustle and bustle.
I was pleasantly surprised with the place. However, all that put me off was that the place smelled like smoke and so did the bedding and towels. I also dropped my earring and then saw a cloud of dust under the bed when I bent down to pick it up. The shower door could not close completely either. It's little things that I believe Snips can improve on. Furthermore, we were received with friendly service and I will definitely spend the night there again.
Snips offers value for money. The premises and the accommodation is very neat and well looked after. The units have everything that's needed and what it lacks, the office will organise for you. It has a good location and close to shops and so forth. They also have clean, comfortable beds, and a clean bathroom and everything was in a working condition. The hard, loose stools can be put to better use if they had cushions on them. A negative point is the dark brown curtains without any lace curtains. It felt as if I had to wash them. I am not sure how long ago it has been washed. Even if it is washed daily, it looks horrible and filthy. It was also a great struggle to lock the place properly. The blinds could be in a better condition. But I would use it again.
I would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to the management of Snips. I was involved in an accident during my stay there. My brother and his friend came to help me as I was in the hospital and my vehicle was written off. The people of Snips received my brother-them after midnight, took them to their accommodation and made sure they had everything they needed. They also, unsolicited, accommodated my brother and his friend for free for 2 nights and accommodated me for an extra night for free. Such caring and kind help is very rare these days. From now on I will only stay at Snips and recommend Snips to everyone.
The accommodation was clean and comfortable. However, as there were many mosquitoes we were surprised to find that there were no mosquito screens on any of the windows, which meant we could not open any windows on what was a very hot night. I would suggest that screens be installed on at least one window in every bedroom and every lounge/kitchen area.

Snips is located outside the residential area of Newcastle. It's a very neat resort and we can't complain about anything.

Cute place. However, experienced the following issues. The fridge made so much noise that we had to wear earplugs. There was no hot water the next morning, the gas geyser was not on, later in the morning when we wanted to prepare for a funeral there was no water. When we returned that evening, the chalets had not even been cleaned. We had to make beds again and wash dishes even though the brochure said they provide such a service.

The chalets were fully equipped. Very neat and clean. There is a nice place to walk around and it's close to the shopping center and casino. The movie channels were a lovely bonus.

We were received very kindly. The stay was excellent. We had a great time. The self-catering facilities are excellent with a fridge, gas stove and microwave. This allowed us to prepare all our planned meals and picnics ourselves. The accommodation is really central, close to the shopping center and also central between Utrecht, Memel, Dundee and Bloedrivier - all the places we wanted to visit on the weekend. We had a problem with the TV broadcast that was sorted out literally within minutes of reporting it. Again, we had a great time. The accommodation made a big contribution to an unforgettable weekend.

Very cute place where we spent the night on our motorcycle trip to Swaziland. Place was clean, but the bathroom toilet was a little dirty under the cover. Furthermore, the unit uses gas for the stove and the shower. The gas shower doesn't work that effectively, it takes a long time to heat up and gets very hot but only for a few minutes then it's freezing cold again. My friends found it similar in their units.
