16 guests' feedbackIn spite of arriving late, with a flat tyre, in the middle of a widespread electricity blackout, as well as unseasonal high winds and a sandstorm, we had the most amazing, peaceful, and comfortable stay at Sonnevleg. The house is beautiful, and it was a delight to stay there. The hosts had left us a bottle of delicious wine, and several battery lanterns to make up for the lack of electricity, and went above and beyond to help us as much as possible to sort out the flat tyre the following day. Such warmth and hospitality is a precious experience of this part of the country.
We enjoyed it incredibly much. House is very well furnished, neat and clean. The antique wooden floors in the farmhouse were very special and beautiful. We really enjoyed the jacuzzi which warms up like a donkey and overlooks the Karoo. We will definitely want to visit again. Thank you for the nice stay.
We will definitely go back, and I can recommend anyone to stay at Sonnevleg Self-catering. Our biggest regret is that we only spent one night there. It is definitely also a destination where you can rest and find your soul! We would certainly also recommend visiting the owners for their delicious Karoo lamb, pot bread, rusk, jam, etc. to order! Great, great, great!
What a fantastic vacation spot. Quiet, beautiful and beautiful views of the farm. Rooms are nice and spacious with good bedding and of course the best place to barbecue. is on the porch at the front of the house. We were fortunate to experience thunder and rain the first day we arrived. Feel free to order the grilled cakes, they are delicious. We will definitely be back again. Thank you Janri and Dirkie for a fantastic holiday! P.S. if it rains, make sure you go with a 4x4 - only farmers can drive with a 2x4 on the dirt roads that are wet.

The house is nicely and fully furnished with flashlights and rechargeable light bulbs to use during load shedding. The electric blanket was a huge treat. There is also a gas heater which helped a lot against the cold.
If you are looking for peace and quiet and a home away from home, and Far from the Maddening Crowds, then this is the place you want! The peace is overwhelming, especially on the first day, as the silence hits you as soon as you have settled down and have a drink on the front porch, where you can sit and look into the very far distance! Coming from Cape Town, where we have Table Mountain, here at Sonnevleg there is a small flat-topped hill which my wife very aptly called The Side Table Mountain, small brother to Table Mountain! We walked all around the farm which was thoroughly enjoyable, and we saw many small animals, and a regular visitor to our porch was a grey mongoose, and on one occasion she slipped past with her young brood! Bird watchers would also be quite happy here with many raptors taking to the skies, aside from all the Little Brown Jobs in abundance! If I could make one suggestion, it would be to advise folk that the Wi-Fi signal is very weak, especially with Vodacom - MTN apparently has no issue. This was a huge thing for us as we have a very elderly parent and the necessity to be in touch with her was paramount - and with limited Vodacom signal, this was not always possible. So, if this aspect could be addressed or mentioned in the blurb, this would help! But please do know that this was the only issue we had! The rest of the time we spent at Sonnevleg was just simply stunning! Loved, loved, loved Sonnevleg! Highly recommended! Thanks so much, Janri! Oh yes! Was lovely and relaxing.
Hostess is very helpful and friendly and gives information. The farm is far from any shop, so take everything together at once. Very safe in nature. Guests don't bother anyone else. Don't be bothered either. Ask if there will be other guests too. The house is big and has everything needed. Well equipped and very nice inside too. Beds and bedding very standard. Little signal, no TV, the Karoo and your people. Was great. See beautiful stars.
This place is a gem. Lovely minimalist, comfortable, spacious, well equipped, friendly hosts, safe, and a feast of veld for the dogs. Out of the books, we'll be back at Sonnevleg soon!

Beautiful and tastefully restored farmhouse. Extremely suitable for a larger group with 4 spacious bedrooms. Well equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Very good communication with management beforehand.
A group of friends scattered across the country and looking for a central point for everyone to gather. Sonnevleg's location was perfect for us. The owners went out of their way to receive us and make us feel welcome. We look forward to another follow-up visit in the future.
