Squirrels Corner is an established guest house offering a relaxed, warm and friendly atmosphere in Montagu. The guest house is centrally located in the village, and most places of interest are within walking distance. The house dates back to 1890 and has authentic Oregon pine flooring and ceilings.
All guest rooms have been recently refurbished. Accommodation comprises 4 units suited to accommodate up to 9 guests in total. The 2 larger outside suites that open onto the garden now have tiled floors, fireplaces, walk-in showers and open-view TV, and are suitable for self-catering as they have fridges, microwaves and 2-plate stoves,
A Satellite based internet system has been installed, which, together with a Mesh router system, significantly improves connectivity throughout the property. Due to the installation of a central UPS together with mini-UPSs in the rooms there is 24 hour Wi-Fi connectivity.
Squirrels Corner prides itself in offering guests a homely experience. Traditionally, a complimentary glass of the famous Montagu Muscadel wine is served on arrival. Guests can make use of the communal lounge in the main house with DStv and a fireplace, enjoy a beverage in the lush garden or relax on the Terrace with panoramic views of the Langeberg Mountain surrounding Montagu.
The optional breakfast is served in the dining room in the main house, with a lovely view of the garden, the Dutch Reformed Church and the surrounding mountain. In winter a roaring wood fire will keep you warm and cosy. Off-street parking is available for guests.
There are 2 walking trails, Lovers Walk and Kanonkop, both located a few hundred metres from the front door. Nearby activities include historical homes, museums, restaurants, hot springs, wine outlets and a renowned dried fruit factory.
There is an extensive collection of model Ferraris and other Ferrari themed memorabilia on site. Guests have free access to the collection.

We had a nice stay. Everything very convenient. Only recommendation we can possibly make is to put a hand rail in the shower. Old people find it difficult without something to hold on to while trying to wash their feet.
My stay was good and the owner was helpful. Very supportive. The WiFi was good.
We forgot that we were also in this accommodation 5 years ago. Then we were very satisfied and it was no different now. Breakfast, at extra cost, is good and tasty, beds are comfortable and the owner has a particularly nice Ferrari exhibition that absolutely deserves a lot of time that we couldn't give.
Everything was superb. The accommodation was impeccable and thoughtfully appointed. The Ferrari model car exhibition should not be missed; it is unique.

We were met with huge smiles and thoroughly equipped with information about Montagu and what there is to do and also a map to be able to find everything. The fireplace in our room was an absolute blessing for the weather we had. Anne's ingenuity in the kitchen conjured up a breakfast like few for us. Mike's Ferrari collection is something to experience and his passion speaks volumes. A loving couple who put your needs before their own are Mike and Anne, thanks, you guys are just on another level.
No effort was spared to make us feel at home. Much has been done to introduce Montagu to us by providing us with information brochures with information and orientation to our location. After a glass of port we were shown to our room.
Guesthouse is very central and close to everything. Can walk if you would like. Mike and Anne were very hospitable. Enjoyed our visit very much.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by Anne and shown around. The property is kept pristine and pretty! Great corner to relax in. Then for the car enthusiasts, Mike maintains a massive collection list of Ferrari memorabilia - quite the sight to behold! Only note is if you need to use the parking, the entrance is narrow and you have to enter it straight on instead of turning in.

A warm welcome by our host set the tone. He was also very helpful with suggestions as to activities in and around Montagu which will come in very handy for a longer stay in Montagu as this was an exploratory stay. Quiet, peaceful surroundings contributed to the ambience of Squirrels Corner.

Mike welcomed and looked after us warmly, and amidst the extensive collection of (succulent) plants throughout, the old-world decor inside, and the Ferrari memorabilia, the location also offers quick access to Kanonkop, other walking options, and numerous dining options within minutes from home. We had a wonderful sleep over.
I wasn't there myself, but the business's workers have nothing but praise for the guest house. Mike helped me very nicely with the booking and even extra breakfast.
