It was absolutely amazing! We will definitely be back.
We loved our stay at Stanford Hills Estate. We had our dog with us and we liked that they have a fenced area for our dog. Beautiful views, beautiful accommodation. Had everything you needed.
We had a good stay. The weather (no one's fault) did not allow us to enjoy the unit as much as we would have liked, but the DSTV and WiFi were a saving grace for the first 2 days. The unit is self-catering and fully equipped with everything that is needed. The unit was spacious, neat, and well-decorated. The unit also had a closed-off yard perfect for guests with pets and children. We were given a complimentary 5 litres of water and a bag of wood, which was appreciated. The staff were great, friendly, and readily available for any assistance or concerns. The unit is on a farm, so there are gravel roads leading to the unit. The condition of the roads wasn't too bad, but the rain certainly does affect this; future guests should keep this in mind. I would also suggest that the owners close the patio for guests to enjoy the braai area on rainy days too. Overall we had a good stay and made the most of our time there despite the weather. Thank you for hosting us.
Magical stay at Sylvia cottage - super cosy and private and awesome for our little doggy (enclosed garden).
We absolutely enjoyed our stay. My cousin took the cottage next to us. From the services and warm welcome to the beautiful view, we had an awesome time. However, two disappointing things - no TV and electric kettle (the kettle is not major though) - the TV I had an issue with especially at night.
We had a great stay at Stanford Hills Estate's Villa cottage. Very well equipped, and everything actually feels very new. Would love to recommend it. It's two cottages next to each other - so don't expect 100% privacy - but it actually didn't bother us at all.
Very comfortable and quiet, which we sought. We loved the pet-friendly accommodation. We did not use the hot tub, so cannot comment here. It was off the patio and cold wind blowing. I would brick up the wall between the cottage wall and braai as the wind blew through there and made us cold on the patio.
The Stanford Hills Estate is private and has a beautiful view. The fireplace heats the cottage well and the wood-burning hot tub is a plus. One can walk on the farm and there is a restaurant.
Fantastic! Scenic, friendly, including doggo and just a great location to relax!
The views were amazing! Went with hubby and our 2 dogs, so Stanford Hills Estate was perfect having a large fenced off area for them. Family joined and booked the Brunia lodge, so that was also great to have separate spaces but Stanford Hills Estate was larger and more suitable spacewise to eat and socialise together. The staff were super friendly and accommodating in assisting us. Love that the restaurant was also pet friendly.
The place was well equipped and nothing was missing. The bed slept wonderfully and warm. We had a great time at the onsite restaurant. The staff are all friendly. We chose accommodation based on hot tub availability. If there wasn't a hot tub here, we wouldn't have made the choice to stay here. However, the hot tub was disappointing. We used 4 large crates full of wood and the bag of wood they provided and it was hopeless. The concept doesn't work. There are no instructions on how to use the tub (- I sent a WhatsApp late at night trying to find out if we were doing something wrong, other than just making the fire and stirring the water). There is no pump to circulate the water. We stirred the water with the wooden paddle, but it was useless. The spot-spot hot tub concept is much more effective than what they have in place here. Yes, it's winter, and sure it works better in summer, but still - how much wood does one have to use up, at what cost, to enjoy something you paid for?
Had gas geyser problems during the two days of our stay. The staff couldn't get it right. Fortunately, we had a specialist come the next day who helped. We finally found a way to get hot water with difficulty. The problem is that they don't listen to the specialist's advice about connecting to gas cylinders. There are two geysers connected to one.
Was fantastic and will go back again for sure. The villas are beautiful and very neat. The staff is really very friendly and helpful.
Relaxing, lovely setting. Kitchen Cupboards had a strong smell of insect repellent. Didn't use hot tub as was too hot, without even heating it.
We had a great time relaxing. Walked far between flowers and vines. Wine tasting and roasting. Owners very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay there again for a longer period.
We were a group of friends and family that celebrated my mother's 60th bday. The scenery and location is absolutely amazing. The weekend was too short to experience everything Stanford has to offer.
Wow. This was our second stay at Stanford Hills. This time our teenagers took along friends so we booked the Manor House. We can't wait to go back! The house is absolutely stunning, it has everything you need and more. I'm very fussy and hate staying anywhere that is not cleaned to my standard, I'm always cleaning before unpacking while hubby takes the kids to look around. Not here. I felt at home right away. Super clean, crisp white bedding and super comfy beds. My only negative was that there were no heaters apart from the main fireplace. It's a big old house and we were very cold at night. The water bottles were a nice touch and we would have suffered without them! But a gas heater or a little blow heater just to warm the room after a bath would have been nice.
The apartments are well located between fynbos fields. Beautiful view of the river. Conveniently near Stanford. Value for money.
See stars.
The accommodation was average but I found certain essential things missing, like no TV, no ice trays. no oven gloves, no tray, no braai utensils, luckily I brought my own, no salt and pepper set had to request from the reception but was not dropped off as suggested, no bath soap,.
See stars.
My friend and I went on a little road trip and decided to spend 3 nights in Stanford. We decided on Stanford hill for close proximity to town and onsite restaurant with excellent food was most enjoyable.
Our group of 13 spent a weekend at the Manor house and Sylvia cottage. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the beautiful, comfortable and well appointed accommodation in such stunning surroundings of the lovely Stanford Hills Estate. We highly recommend this wonderful venue.
Cute house, but needs some work. Located in a wonderful area on a stunning working farm. Very nice stay.
The location is beautiful. The cottage itself seems "tired" - the main bed was uncomfortable - you could feel the base and springs so only 1 of us could sleep on it. The shower door was faulty. The Satellite decoder was faulty. The cottage managers were not reachable by telephone at all.
We had a great time. My 7-year-old daughter asked in shock where the TV was when we walked in, but it was lovely to just enjoy each other's company. Als was nice and clean and everyone was friendly. My wife was very happy about the beautiful bunch of proteas. See you again soon.
After a night's sleep, there are five Stanford Hills employees in the reception building. Two are on social media. One combs her hair. One takes your money. Nul asks if your stay was okay.
Didn't get the cottage we asked for at first. Paying for DStv but no TV available. Pay back later. Wine tasting extremely poor. Bottles must have been open for a very long time and wine oxidized. Different wines in the same glass with no water or anything to clean the palette. Person has very little knowledge of product. Wine is not served hygienically. Rub mouth of bottle warm with bare hand. Website says wine tasting is free. Price R40 per person.
We really enjoyed it, especially that our little dog could go with us. We had an enclosed cottage and she was also safe when she played. Couldn't have come out at all. The cottage has a great view, the wind was blowing quite a bit when we were there, but we really enjoyed the porch and view.
Everything was 100% and we had a wonderful stay.
Nice and peaceful farm atmosphere and nice playground for the children.
We will definitely be back again in the winter! Looks like the ideal cozy winter getaway!
See the stars.
Will always go back again. Very beautiful, peaceful and calm.
A very peaceful setting. Ideal place to renew yourself. Facilities need renovations.
We only got there late on the Friday evening as we were working until late, so we just sat down and went into town to eat at the restaurant we had booked. When we came back, we wanted to take a hot shower, but to our great disappointment, only drops of water came out of the shower. We had to drive again early the next morning, so didn't have time to wait for someone to come and check, so had to take a shower at the next destination only in the afternoon. I feel like you're only paying for a place to sleep and a hot shower on a Friday night, so disappointing.
