11 guests' feedbackThis was by far the worst accomodation I have ever stayed at! I was given a room off on the side of the property, the aircon was not working (after I had specifically asked as it was 38 degrees there) - they did re-gas it on the second day, only to have no electricity for most of the evening, I was then informed that they do not have generators or back up power. When I enquired about the restaurant that is advertised, I was told that you need to tell them before hand that you want to eat there and the lady will prepare the food, there is no restaurant to sit at. When asking for the WiFi password as there is zero signal, I was treated like a criminal! They informed that they do not hand out the password and if I wanted to connect I would need to bring my devices to their office. I travel for business, so I needed to connect my laptop and phone, I am not comfortable handing my valuable items over to people that dont even have the decency to put a shirt on when welcoming new guests to their lodge.
The best thing about the place was the air con and WiFi. Road sign fell down. View outside was nice room was clean. That's as far as I can go.
R560 for a Wendy house. It doesn't look like it does on the internet at all. The toilet does not work, there is no water to wash with. The service is extremely extremely poor. Our food that we ordered was very expensive.
The worst service and accommodation I have ever experienced. Nothing I found here shows up on the web pages of the place. Not everyone drives four wheel drive vehicles. The road from the main road is poor. Wooden houses are lined up. Inside the cabin it doesn't look much more appealing. One single wooden bed with dirty spots on the carpet. Toilet roll with a few sheets on the roll. Bowls with coffee, tea and no sugar. Dirty teaspoon full of dry coffee powder. On the premises, right next to the hut in which I had to stay, is an enormous machine that runs permanently with a noise like few. Plus point: air arrangement. I paid R844 for one night's stay. Booked two days. I will not stay here another day longer.
Beautiful surroundings. Tranquility next to the river. Noise at night due to neighbor's 24 hour work.

Our guys were not happy staying at Steelpoort River Lodge. They were basically staying in little wendy houses with no doors between the sleeping area and the bathroom. We will not book there again.

Close to all amenities. Reception was friendly and I was made to feel at home.
It's not a good place, especially since I don't smoke and everything in the room was full of cigarette smoke.
