We had a fantastic weekend retreat at Steenbok Farm Cottages. The accommodation was immaculate, tastefully designed, and matched the photos perfectly. Every necessary amenity was provided, and the complementary rusks and wine added a delightful touch. The cottage is extremely pet-friendly, featuring a fenced-off yard and dog bowls. We will definitely return for another stay.

This is one of the few places that is pet friendly that is my favorite! The host really puts a lot of consideration into making it the best pet friendly place, the cottage is fenced off perfectly and the dog blanket and bowls are such an amazing addition. The cottage is well furnished and the kitchen is well equipped. We were all very impressed and look forward to our next visit.
Had a fantastic time. Very quiet midweek break. Was not expecting to see so many animals walking around the cottages and houses. There are nice walks around the area. The last short part of the road needs an SUV to get to the house. The alarm was not working due to a flat battery in the remote. Would have liked a map of the walks that are marked with colours so we would have known where we were walking. If it rains heavily, check ahead to make sure the road is open. They do tell you that in the info supplied, but it's a must to check in the winter time after heavy rains. We look forward to going back. All is there you could need and plenty of wood. WiFi is good.

We had a great time and really enjoyed the pool. Would have been a bonus if the KolKol tub was on the front porch because the wind blew us apart in the back. The unit is extremely neat and spacious and ideal for 6 people. The fence at the front also helped tremendously in keeping the dogs inside.
Neat, spacious family home, equipped with the essentials, to be able to relax in nature. The spacious picnic porch is a further extension of the picnic area. The convenience of an inverter for the TV, WiFi and lights in the house (during load shedding) was not to be underestimated! I would only suggest that visitors bring their own lights if you still want to hang out outside while it is load shedding, especially at the braai area. The house is quite a walk from the pool (especially in the summer heat), but feel free to explore the area and look for the short paths.
I've been there before and it was better. The shower works a bit short, inside braai smoke and our room's roof leaked water through the light. The light is rusted so it must be an old problem. The beds are very good and everything is there that one needs, and the kolkol is a winner. Will just make some adjustments to the cost per night. Have stayed better for cheaper. Nice for a getaway with animals.

Steenbok Farm Cottages is a beautiful oasis with the most beautiful mountain views. We as a family had a festive time. Moongoose, where we visited, is equipped with everything to make a visit comfortable and pleasant. We will definitely visit again and recommend this place.
The beds are amazing, slept so well. Gorgeous decor. Was very pleasantly surprised by the small details such as the hot water bottles in the bedrooms, matches, blitz and starter wood to light the fires, and an abundance of wood conveniently packaged and stored in easy-to-access places. Gas top kettle as well as electric kettle, hair dryers, sufficient cleaning products and materials etc. Really felt well catered for.

Amazing accommodation, the host has literally thought of everything, all amenities provided for and then some! Wonderful spot for both kids and adults alike, the kolkol is definitely a hit. Short drive through to Tulbagh for a spot of wine tasting too. Will definitely be back!
The fenced property was great as we could let our puppy run around freely. The hot tub was a nice addition for watching the sunsets. The accommodation was clean, and we were impressed with the quality of the furnishings.

Although the accommodation is very good, the road there is difficult at the moment because there have been storms, but they are repairing the road and then the ride should be comfortable.
The accommodation is very neat. There is enough of everything you need. The way to the cottages should be better signposted. The area around the cottages is just too pristine and needs to be cleared more widely for a better view.
There is something here for every family member. Hammock for Aunt, hot jacuzzi for Mom and Dad. Just enjoy a delicious glass of wine on the porch with a view. Little sister had a great time relaxing on hiking trails. The garden roses on arrival were an extra treat along with the wine. Thanks for the extras.

Don't tackle the gravel with a hatchback. There are 2 steep climbs en route to Steenbok Farm Cottages.
Even though it rained all weekend, it didn't bother us at all, because the house gives you enough space and you don't feel cramped. The indoor braai makes the living area nice and warm. There are cottages directly next to the cottage, but we didn't see anyone, so still felt private. Thank you very much for a wonderful visit.

From the moment you set foot in the cottage, you feel like someone really wants you to have the absolute best time there! The hike is absolutely gorgeous, the instructions for heating the hot tub were bang-on, and the cottage itself is surrounded by nature. Bliss!
Haven't been welcomed to a place so nice in a long time. Marianka goes the extra mile for her guests. The cottage was neat and clean upon our arrival. The large lawn outside and the highlight: the hot tub. The open-plan kitchen and barbecue area is very nice for winter and summer.
The hot tub is a big plus. We did the hiking trails, incredibly nice to be able to walk in nature like that. Layout of house is very good and the finish of the top quality. Will definitely visit again.

Surprising modern cottage in the middle of 'nowhere', well furnished. We were greeted with springboks every day and many different species plus the zebras that allowed us to take beautiful photos.

The house is lovely. We enjoyed the stay, but I'd like to give feedback on where the owners can improve. Only things I would recommend they look at is the following: Glass door on guest bathroom does not offer enough privacy. Maybe put a sticker of Tulbagh over it. Guest beds were not too comfortable. One should always invest in good beds. Bathrooms and bedrooms could be cleaner. Toilets had some soil and lots of pet hair from previous guests under furniture. A extra dishcloth will be helpful. Fruit flies in the afternoon was overwhelming, not sure how one can manage them.
Tulbach is a nice warm place and maybe better to enjoy the place with Jacuzzi in the cooler months instead.

The lovely houses are very well equipped with everything you need for a perfect getaway. The cottage is surrounded by mountains and the outdoor hot tub allows you to fully relax and admire the scenery. The cottage is 100% animal-friendly and you can relax without worrying about your animals' safety. Marianka made us feel very welcome! We will be back for sure.

We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub, but be careful not to add too much wood as it gets very hot. A table on the front deck would also be nice. Note: there is no oven (just for those who may have wanted to make oven dishes/bake).

We were on our way back home from Johannesburg, and we needed a place to sleep. We booked last minute, and the place was neatly clean and everything was of a very high standard.

This is a luxury home away from home. We could just stay there for another week. It is excellently furnished and we saw many animals near the house.

Beautiful place that is fully equipped for a comfortable getaway. The verandas on both sides of the house overlook the lovely scenery. Although we had to drive on a dirt road for a while to get there, it was worth it when we saw how beautiful and privately located the place is. We were surprised the first morning with red hearted cattle and springbok a stone's throw away from the house. The area also offers several paths on which one can go for a walk through the fynbos and perhaps see the animals up close. Our little dog was also made to feel very welcome with bowls and a brand new blanket that was available. The fenced lawn also allows your animals to be outside safely. The owners are clearly very accommodating when it comes to pets, which we really appreciated. Even though we were only two people, I can imagine that a larger group could stay very comfortably in this house. The nice fireplace and open plan design give a spacious cozy feel. We will definitely go back again!

The main bedroom is furnished with a queen-size bed and has an en-suite bathroom with a shower. The second bedroom contains a queen-size bed, and the third is furnished with 2 single beds. The 2 rooms share the use of a bathroom with a shower. Bath towels are provided, and guests are required to bring their own swimming towels. The kitchen is equipped with a stove, a microwave, and a fridge, as well as tea- and coffee-making facilities, and meals can be enjoyed at the dining table. The living areas open onto a covered patio with a built-in braai with views of the farm. The cottage has a private wood-fired hot tub making it ideal for summer and winter breakaways. The cottage has an enclosed grassy area where pets can play, and well-behaved pets are welcome by arrangement.
The cottages offer guests a tranquil break from city life and can accommodate up to 6 people each. Each cottage comprises 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and a lounge. The bedrooms are furnished with single beds, and queen-size beds and the bathrooms are fitted with baths or showers. Bath towels are provided, and guests are required to bring their own swimming towels.
The kitchens are equipped with stoves, microwaves, fridges, as well as tea- and coffee-making facilities. Meals can be enjoyed at the dining table, and guests can relax in a private lounge which is equipped with a TV with selected DStv channels and has a cosy indoor braai area. Wi-Fi access is also available.
