Stilbaai Family Holiday Home is exactly what the name says: a house where families come to spend holidays. If you are looking for something more well rounded (like newer furniture and cooking facilities) then this home is not for you. Nice beds are a plus, but the house needs a good dusting. Furniture on the veranda will help to enjoy the beautiful view. The environment is very peaceful and safe.

The place is perfect for reception if you are expecting any guests. It would be a plus if there was a covered barbecue, but a Weber is provided that you can move to any place that is comfortable for you.

Our family really enjoyed the house, although it was very neat, clean and in working order. Older furniture but perfectly acceptable. Didn't need anything more, would rent the house again anytime. The fireplace in the house is an absolute winner, especially in the winter months.

It was wonderful. This house is well equipped and there is enough of everything. Only negative point is the toilet paper. Please provide double layer toilet paper.

The house is a stone's throw from the river and has a very nice view to the sea and river. The house lived very well with small children. There was more than enough braai wood and we had a great time burning the fireplace all weekend. The kitchen is well equipped. We really enjoyed the cottage!

The house was so dirty, it stank terribly because of a new thatch roof that "rained" dust and thatch during our entire stay, there were little creepers coming out of the roof falling into the beds etc, there were ants everywhere in the house, it was full of cobwebs and spiders. The inside of the cupboards, the plates, cutlery, pots and pans were all filthy and very very old. Sewerage came up in one of the showers, 2 toilets kept running. The bathrooms and toilets were old and filthy. There were no bath towels, it did state that on the description, but we all read over the small writing and didn't bring any. I've never been to a place where they have no towels for the guests. There were only 4 little smelly hand towels. There wasn't a second set of keys. The outside area wasn't swept in a long time. There was sand, dust, leaves and ants everywhere. As a whole the house is not taking care of at all. The furniture is very old, out of date and smelly. It took me a day of my holiday to clean the house and wash the smelly towels/linen/cloths. The owner of the house never returned our call. The agent was very uncooperative and never helped us with these problems and even tried to chase us out of the house two hours early by sending a cleaning lady at 8 and stating check out time was 9. She insisted the house had been cleaned just before we came in, but the wind had been blowing (also inside the cupboards? and the spiders did a good job returning and making so many new webs in that time?). I know R1000 a night isn't huge, but one can at least expect a clean house with working bathrooms/kitchen/appliances etc.
