We had a nice stay. It was cozy. Booked a king size bed but didn't get it.
Trouble sleeping. Music and drums rumble in the distance. Until the early hours of the morning. No. 1 is too close to home. Could hear neighbors talking and TV was loud until late at night.
Our stay at Stonefly was wonderful. . Positives: Good rooms, spacious, clean bedding. The fireplaces and wood provided make a huge difference in cold weather. The owner was flexible in terms of check-in and check-out which we really appreciated. We would definitely go back. . Negatives: We only found out on arrival that the oven was not working. This was actually a good thing, because the oven was filthy. Unfortunately the shower floors were also not clean. The gas for the gas heater was also finished pretty quickly after putting the heater on. . I believe if there is some effort put into the cleanliness of this place, it has alot of potential! I would definitely go back.
Although there was an unplanned power failure, there was no information on the website on the lack of generators and WiFi. At times there was electricity outside but none inside the house which caused some discomfort due to the use of the CPAP machine. During no electricity, there was also no water. This should be on the website to make informed decisions and preparedness. Also, the duty manager could have checked in and communicated more frequently to alleviate anxieties.
Would just recommend they get a boiler for the gas stove for loadshedding times.

Value for money. Beautiful, large garden. Only thing that was inconvenient is the gate that doesn't work with a car. It feels unsafe to get out in the evening and open and close a gate, but once you are inside you do feel very safe.
My husband and I booked here just for an overnight stay. It was very pleasant. Booking was easy. It is ideal for a place to sleep if you have booked to visit Dullstroom for the evening. The location is ok, yes on the border of the town, but it didn't bother. It was just a big issue to get there. For example, the man told us that you should stop before the train track, if you get to the train track you have driven too far. But actually you turn off directly towards the train tracks. He said you turn right, when you actually turn left. Google Maps can't get you to the destination. Street names are different from the ones on Google, or there are no names in the streets at all. So getting there irritated us a bit. Other than that, we didn't really spend time there.
The braai had no grate and the smoke hung in the room all evening.
We arrived in Dullstroom and struggled to get to the guest house. Only after I contacted the owner and he had to explain to us, we were able to find the guest house. Signs with directions are very poor and unclear. We were very disappointed to see where the guest house was located, after I had inquired about it ahead of time. I specifically inquired ahead of time about the room with the "spa tub" and canceled other cheaper accommodations specifically for this guest house and room with the spa tub just to get there and not include the "bubble action" of the tub. operation not. Although a bath, so no spa bath, after I specifically inquired about this. There is a television in the room - the owner came to show us the room and everything, but made no mention of the fact that the remote was not working (although he knew about it). We were there for a whole afternoon and my husband had to go and call him to get his attention from the TV that wasn't on. Only then did he show us where to turn on the TV at the back. So extremely disappointed as we certainly did not receive value for money. The pictures on the internet look very nice, but are very misleading. Also regarding the location. The photos on the internet of the room are accurate, although what is advertised (eg the bathtub) is not in working order. Although WiFi is advertised, the detail was not communicated to us on arrival nor was it available in the room.
Keys when leaving were an issue, but otherwise it was nice. I will stay at Stone-Fly again any time.

Stone-Fly guest house offers comfortable accommodation at a reasonable price. However, the road to the guest house is not in good condition, a stony, beaten dirt road more suitable for SUVs and vans.

Accommodation is good and will be nice to book the entire house for a weekend. There was just a problem with the lights in our rooms. Google Maps wants to take you on the wrong road.

We had a very nice stay. The place was neat, clean and you can see that quality has not been neglected. The location just wasn't that nice, but we didn't feel unsafe at all.
With the exception of the last bit of road which is poor, the reception by André and accommodation comfort is great. The cleanliness is top notch and facilities spacious and in very good condition.
Uncle Craig who is the manager is very friendly. Maybe it should be indicated that there is a gravel road to the establishment. We went there with motorcycles and we usually plan according to that. Other wise it was very nice.

Stone-Fly Guesthouse is perfectly comfortable and clean. The major drawback is that they are right on the edge of Dullstroom, bordering the town's informal settlement. They are ideal if you don't want a view and are happy to have a more city feel.
The Internet does not indicate the location of the premises. Although the room inside the guesthouse was neat and clean, the location is not good.
For the type of accommodation they offer, it's definitely a rip-off. I would think that there should at least be winter sheets and more than 1 extra blanket. There isn't even a warm blanket or fireplace, and it's a honeymoon suite? You can't even turn on your side without the bed creaking loudly. The place is really very cold and definitely not honeymoon standard.
Although the facilities are beautiful and clean, the location is extremely poor and safety was a concern. We couldn't relax at all. There were not enough beds made for the number of guests booked. No extra warm blanket on the single bed which was made up. Been bitterly cold. Kitchen water does not heat up. Dead bat in bathroom upon arrival.
The place is neat and clean for families who want to cook themselves! There is too much furniture in the rooms and there is no room cleaning service.
The road to Stone Fly Guesthouse is almost impassable, although we were on a motorcycle I wouldn't even want to drive the road with my car. The manager was very kind to give us early access to our room, so it didn't bother me that the porch and braai area weren't clean. But it was not cleaned even later, the braai area was not cleaned, all the ashtrays were full of stubs and there were dirty dishes. Our room did not have a kettle so the manager lent us his private kettle. For the price we paid, we expected much better.
We were pleasantly surprised at the rental. For what we had paid we expected far less from both the caretakers as well as the place itself. We will most definitely be seeing Stone-Fly again.

Very nice guest house with a pleasant atmosphere. Peaceful, quiet and yet close to everything.
The room and bathroom and kitchen and braai area were clean and well stocked, although the tea and coffee weren't replenished for the second day. Bed and bedding excellent. Only suggestion I have is that they provide some space, packing and hanging for garments. None available.

Although a bit out of the way, the venue makes up for it in the friendly owner. The rooms were clean and self-catering kitchen perfectly equipped for a couple wanting time away.
We enjoyed the stay, the place is nice, clean and tidy, can recommend but the TVs were knocked out by the weather and were important to me / us, sure it would be better if they were working (weather was heavy and they have apologized, accepted without any problems), the street there is one big mess and for that reason I can't / won't simply recommend it - the place itself is not 5 star but no reason not to recommend, we enjoyed the stay.
We would just like to request for the directions to be amended. The GPS coordinates leads one to a cul de sac and the place wasn't well sign posted. You can't recognise it as a guesthouse. The sign post was smaller than an A4 piece of paper. It was quite an effort to find the place.
