It was so peaceful and such a beautiful place. The customer service is fantastic and I would recommend, which I have already done. What I suggest is maybe putting a gate or door at the entrance of the rooms, so that people don't walk through your garden while you enjoy the tranquility. It was really nice, I will stay longer next time.
Stornoway is a great place for families to have a break from busy city life. We came through from Johannesburg for a long weekend away. We stayed in the standard Jacuzzi room and the room was as advertised. The Jacuzzi room has more privacy than the standard rooms with a beautiful view of the lake. Our highlights of Stornoway were the beach bar, the Jacuzzi and of course the food. The complimentary breakfast was great and had a good variety.
Everything to satisfaction, staff very friendly and food was tasty.
To start with, the place is old and not looking as nice as on the pictures. It seems like they are advertising it with its old pictures. The bed wasn't comfortable at all. We had to turn it around the following day, with the feet to the head, and it was much better. The towels were white but had some yellow stains on them. On Sunday for breakfast, we had to wait for 55 minutes to be served, and most people who came before us were served before us. It seemed like when someone was supposed to help us, the male waiter who helped us on Saturday kept pointing at others to be helped and left us unassisted, even though he saw that we arrived before them. Maybe it was because we didn't tip him on Saturday, I don't know. We had to complain to be helped. Thanks to a waiter called MOSES, finally he came and served us. His service was good, and we really appreciate how he treated us. In short, I will never recommend the place to anyone.
The Fat Olive restaurant was very quiet, but service was a bit slow. The food was otherwise enjoyable.

The only changes I would recommend is that due to a person paying more for the room with a Jacuzzi is to make it more private. We only got in in the evening cause of the walkways passing the room. Making it more private would make the stay even more amazing. And then there was no hot water Saturday evening. Not sure why.

We booked on a self-catering basis and whilst there was a braai, there were no utensils (plates, knives, forks etc etc). The food quality was average (not bad, but not great). Unfortunately the main road runs past the establishment so there is constant vehicle noise. Great day venue, but would not recommend over-nighting.
This is the type of place you go to if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It's secluded with several places to visit nearby for activities.
Apart from all the loadshedding, it was a nice weekend break.

Stornoway Lodge is an all in one overnight destination. The staff are professional, friendly and helpful. The premises and accommodation are neat and clean and exactly as presented on the website. Feel free to stay there.

We stayed in the permanent tent and expected a peaceful weekend (that's also how the photos represent the place). But there is a bar area 50 m from the tent with incredibly loud club type music, it sounds like you are inside a club when you sit in the tent. Public toilets are right behind the tent with drunk people coming to bother you all the time. They also walk past the tent all the time, when it was said this was a private unit. The outdoor shower is also right next to the toilets with holes in the wooden fence, so you can't even shower there. There are also pigs behind the toilets that screamed for over an hour throughout the evening. There is also a very large road nearby and the cars passing by make incredibly loud noise. We couldn't last another day and night there and the manager got arrogant when we mentioned all the things to him and defended the place as if it was what we booked. The pictures don't show what it's like at all. We had such a bad experience and would not recommend this to anyone!
We only spent one night, but it was extremely nice! The bubble bath in the room was the highlight.
Close to Johannesburg on the one side and Hartbeespoortdam on the other side and lots of activities in the area. We dropped by the nurseries, the iconic JASMYN and enjoyed a delicious meal at the restaurant at the lodge. The little duckies waddle right past your room. Staff went out of their way to be helpful and the Jacuzzi was a nice bonus.

Very good accommodation, well located in relation to Lanseria. Only downside is the fact that the kitchen and restaurant close at 8pm on Mondays.
The following comments are important to consider, otherwise the experience will be very negative: Towels are old and broken and should be replaced - make sure they were clean. The outdoor shower is next to the guest toilets and therefore offers no privacy - raising the sides of the shower area or moving the toilets may help. The reeds at the dam obstruct the view from the veranda. There were braai facilities and a bag of wood would have been great. The dinner at the restaurant was very nice, but more expensive than expected. On the positive side, the breakfast was excellent and the tent very cute. Thanks also for good service. It was very nice.

Stunning venue with amazing views. Fantastic restaurant. Everyone so helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend it. My only problem was with the manager. He made us pay for the breakfast which was supposed to be included. My booking confirmation clearly stated bed and breakfast. He told me because I got a discount through Travelground that breakfast was no longer included. Very strange.
We received great service, als was great - breakfast was not as great as dinner, we had to wait a bit.
It's just the frogs that make such a terrible noise in the evening, that no one can sleep. The rest of the accommodation and restaurant were fantastic.

The accommodation is well located. The rooms are spacious and clean. The on-site restaurant is located along a pond/lake with swans and ducks/geese which creates a nice atmosphere. The food is also very tasty. The service as a whole is good and friendly. There are also a few things on site to keep kids busy.
The management appeared slightly inexperienced. The workers in the restaurant and bar need more organization and better leadership. While we didn't have a bad experience, it did seem chaotic at times. The driver is loud. The accommodation itself and room were as desired.
It's a shame that the location is so close to the highway. Maybe they could put some soundproof signs along the highway? The noise at the party area on Saturday night was disturbing even though it was only until 10.30pm.
We are getting married early next year and are looking for a place for our wedding - Stornoway Lodge was one of the places that looked good, so we decided to stay one night and then make our decision from there. We were not impressed at all. Breakfast : (10:00 - 11:00 as indicated in the information booklet in room 13). During breakfast, The Fat Olive's staff were already busy setting the tables for lunch. What a mess, we got up later and left our breakfast just like that. It was shouting over and over from one member of staff to another about where to go (clearly our table was in the way). The breakfast was really not worth his R75 either. I know the people at a table diagonally across from us also had the same feeling because they also got up and said they would rather come back at 11:00 and order from the other menu. The service at The Fat Olive is very poor, but we found no fault with the accommodation itself.
Although the staff were friendly and helpful, this was a misleading advertisement. The photos testify to a luxurious, panoramic experience in the countryside. However, it was less than 1 km from a busy highway that buzzed with cars throughout the night. There was also a late-night party of other guests who only finished hanging out at 3 o'clock Friday morning on the stoep barely 200 m from the tent. It was a wasted milieu and a poor attempt at quality. "Luxury" !? What a disappointment.

Afrikaans is not used at all even though the Lodge advertises on the internet "Here we speak Afrikaans"! No provisions were made for power outages, the water tanks became empty and we were without water to take a shower for a long time. SAB's year-end function was held on Saturday and the staff and children were bussed in for it. The noise was bad, had we been aware of such a thing, we would not have booked at the Lodge.

A wonderful place to stay in Landseria.
Absolutely fantastic stay. Loved the service, the breakfast on offer, rowing in the river, and the peace and fresh air. The weather was great and a quick drive takes you to The Cradle for meals.
It is a good area to go away to, though the landscaping would do with some touch-ups. But overall it was great!

The service was amazing and they were very accommodating when they heard it was our anniversary. They really went out of their way to make our stay extra special. The cottage on the lake is an absolute must, with it's beautiful setting, and lovely scenery. The outdoor jacuzzi is nothing short of magical!
