Pool available, nice chill area next to pool if kids need to be monitored. Peaceful, relaxing and lots to do in the area for adults and kids.
What a wonderful holiday! Storyhouse is beautiful, neat and clean. It's perfectly located in a quiet neighborhood walking distance from the sea. Antoinette and Charl are very hospitable and happy to help where they can. We will miss our morning coffee on the veranda in the picture-perfect garden. We will definitely go again!
Excellent and friendly owners.
Very well received and owners very hospitable. Meals can be recommended. Misfortune doesn't make it up for service. My room was not serviced. The bed was not made and the towels were not hung out to dry. Clearly not wiped or vacuumed. Access to the room is impractical with stairs, very narrow and steep. Will not work for people with a problem. Access to the stairs is through the kitchen and pantry. No television in the room.
Charl and Antoinette did an outstanding job with this gem called "Storyhouse", we had an absolutely wonderful time staying in the "Gysbertus" apartment. It was very neat and clean with stunning view out of the huge wooden framed windows over Chapman's Peak, and the lights of Houtbay at night is just magnetic. It is close to the beach and truly a very friendly neighborhood. But it was all the little things that Charl and Antoinette did extra that really made this holiday/experience stand out as the "complete package" for us (worth every Star). Needless to say we fell in love with "Storyhouse" and Kommetjie. A big thanks again, we'll be back.
Great location and great hospitality.
My husband and I had a wonderful time at Storyhouse. We had a wonderful welcome by Charl and Antoinette. Chocolate on our pillow as a welcome. Strawberries, yogurt and juice in the fridge when we got there. We went for a walk on the beach and although there were dogs on the beach, they were all so friendly that I didn't even need to be scared, (when I was younger I was attacked by a dog). We had our own kitchen and a separate entrance and it was great. I would definitely recommend it.
Antoinette and Charl are truly salt of the earth people and we will visit them again.
The owners are very nice and helpful. The area is very safe. It's walking distance from the sea.
It was private, cozy and beautiful. Nice view from our room with its own kitchen and braai area. Very good lighting with large windows, nice breakfast every morning.
I would definitely recommend Storyhouse, the weekend was relaxing and the hospitality warm. I traveled alone, and was part of the family. Long Beach is breathtaking. Thanks for everything Carol!
Antoinette and Charl are excellent hostesses and hosts. We arrived late and it was no trouble for them to receive us. Stayed in touch before the time and even asked if we had transport from the airport. We are very glad we chose Story House.

It was a lovely weekend away, which felt like a week long holiday. The host lady and gentleman were so welcoming, comfortable and helpful. It was a pleasure to stay in Storyhouse. Will definitely go again!
The well-prepared tasty breakfasts were too enormous to contemplate so need to be smaller and cheaper. The comfortable bed ensured very restful sleep. Access to the accommodation during the day was difficult as there is no separate entrance but a key was made available for us after a couple of days. The Malawian houseman was extra special and a wonderful carer for guests. One small thing is that we feel older folk (like us) should be discouraged from hiring the upstairs Rhonda room ... as the very steep stairway is inviting disaster.
We had a great stay. Will recommend this experience to anybody going to the area. The owners were great to talk to. The place was neat and tidy.
