249 guests' feedbackAs always, very nice and relaxing. Everything you need and with a beautiful view of the beach and ocean. The host was as helpful and accommodating as ever! One of our favourite places to visit!
Amazing spot, everything you need. Beautiful spot and makes you feel like you never want to go home. We'll be back.
Will definitely do it again.
Owner contacted us and we were able to check in earlier. Very nice stay. Conveniently close to everything.
Very good location - we walked everywhere we wanted to be, neat little place with a nice view. Also received very good communication from owner to book in. Would definitely recommend the Strandlopertjie.
We thoroughly enjoyed it! Good location with a lovely view of the sea while barbecuing.
Yip. Only sorry for 1 wine glass. And stove needs renovation. Very dirty and shabby.
Spent 2 nights for the Jazz on the Rocks concert, arrived after 2, no communication regarding key. Arrived to be told it's under a rock. After not finding the key, had to get the cleaner to open the door, wasting time. Arrived home to load shedding, no communication regarding backup light. No light available in the room for load shedding. On the positives, clean and in a good position overlooking the ocean.
Yes, it was nice to be able to stay there. It with our needs. Beds gave us enough rest. Thank you very much.
Strandlopertjie is nicely located by the beach. The area is a bit busy and the lobster sellers are too much of a bother. There is no secure parking and the car parks in the street. The kitchen was not very pleasant and they can certainly upgrade a bit, but apart from all that the stay was nice. I wasn't very impressed upon arrival, but after a while it grew on us.
We loved Paternoster, but were very disappointed with the upkeep of the accommodation. There are a lot of things that need to be fixed and upgraded. This little cottage is in the prime position of Paternoster but has been very neglected.
Had a great time. We could just walk along the beach to the restaurant!
Thank you to the friendly and helpful staff! The location is the best in the world.
Restaurants were nearby and the vacationers were friendly. The weather was wonderful. Our place was very nice.
Unit was neat. Parking on the street is a problem. Parking could be better marked. There was coffee and tea, but own milk had to be provided. Would recommend just putting a small container of milk in fridge. Furthermore, the unit was neat and would like to spend the night there again.
Very nice spacious room, with a beautiful view.
Will definitely recommend friends and family. Looking forward to a next time.
Unfortunately the weather and winds were very bad. Unpleasant to walk on the beach or even sightsee. This however was a last minute decision to visit to see what was was on offer for future trips, so unfair to give the place a decent review.
The house is cute, but the bed is very hard and uncomfortable.
Incredibly beautiful and peaceful little fishing village.
We had a nice time. The lobster peddlers are very troublesome. Strandlopertjie is in urgent need of renovation. The owner/agent will have to carry out regular inspections to ensure that the place and facilities are tidy for the next guests.
We booked a last-minute trip up the coast and were thrilled to receive a quick response and acceptance of our booking request. However, upon arrival, no one contacted us to advise on where to get the keys or park. After searching for 5 minutes and calling the owner/property manager, we managed to find the keys. Upon entering, the overpowering smell of the fireplace was evident, forcing us to open all the closed doors, windows, and curtains. There was no light or air flow in the room, and the strong smell of fire was pervasive. Everything smelt like fire. The spot is conveniently close to the beach, which is great, but be prepared to be approached by every person trying to sell Kreef, even if you're sitting quietly on the stoep, minding your own business. The bedding and towels all smelt like fire, and there was no back-up power or any system in place to notify us of load shedding or assist us in the darkness. To top it off, there was no WiFi. Not even firewood to make a fire, ironically. The next morning, we received a message 20 minutes before we were told we needed to check out so they could start cleaning. I won't be returning.
Very disappointed that the owners didn't even bother to come and see if everything was OK.
No reply from owner when asking if there was WiFi. On departure, no reply as to where we could leave the keys.
Can't compare it to other beaches. Place on its own. An experience on its own.
The leakage from above causes the walls to be musty. No WiFi or any facilities for loadshedding. No lights. No parking or shelter for vehicle. Disappointing.
Loved the rustic finish of the room however, shower drain was blocked and water leaked into bedroom. Parking was a problem as our car had to be parked on pavement in open sun. View was wonderful but unfortunately a chair or little table outside would have been nice. The little bar fridge was totally to small for basic stuff.
The walls were filthy. Rugs dirty and the towels smelt terrible and iffy. Coffee and tea available, but no milk. Kettle cord too short to pour without unplugging. Curtain linings are torn and threadbare. Shower absolutely filthy. No chair to sit on outside. Broken window covered with a cardboard sign. Room was freezing. Paternoster beautiful but continuous harassment from street people. Accommodation not recommended and certainly not what was depicted in the pictures when booking.
The unit is on a very busy street and no secure parking.
I have stayed at places for R750 p/n which is much better than this place that charges R1200 p/n. The parking is right next to the road, in front of the unit, and my car got scratched on the right-hand side.
Very disappointed, the stove does not work and the temporary gas stove is also not in working order. The unit has a sewage smell. We were booked in for 2 nights but only stayed 1.
Not worth the money. Booked unit 2 for one night, but it's in such bad shape and uncomfortable, we didn't stay the night. The neighborhood was noisy, the unit smelled and the mattress was hard and uncomfortable. The unit needs a lot of repairs. Too expensive for what you get and a waste of money.
The one shower's water ran very poorly. I think the whole Strandloper setting needs a good overhaul. The braai area has a piece of cloth for a canopy which is not sufficient at all. In case of bad weather, the guests will have to huddle in a cage on a bed. .Vehicles must park on a busy street. It is not safe at all. Lobster peddlers shout up and down the street all day.
Most friendliest little place. Place is very neat and tidy. We had dinner at De Seekat restaurant and their sushi was awesome. The place is also reasonably price.
Neat room, fantastic location. Very helpful host.
It was very peaceful and owner was very helpful with everything.
Nothing more needed than the accommodation. The location is perfect, everything you need, we will definitely book there again!
Strandlopertjie was very accommodating. Quaint rustic rooms with everything necessary for a short stay. Quick stroll along the path to access the beach.
Awesome location. If you don't mind rustic then you will enjoy it. Small things that need attendance but nothing major. We enjoyed our stay.
Perfect cottage for two right on the beach. We had everything we needed and could walk to all restaurants. Great service from the owner who lives next door.
Very close to the beach and within walking distance of nice restaurants. The owner suggested us a fantastic restaurant.
We were received with open arms. We were informed about what to expect. I will definitely come again and recommend friends. Best location ever. One word: fantastic.
Very comfortable room right by the sea. Room was neat and clean and completely adequate. Owner also very friendly and helpful. Will definitely visit there again.
Most beautiful beach! Perfect room with everything needed! At the beach. Will sit on that beach for hours and watch all the fishermen. The most delicious food eaten at Voorstrand Restaurant! Nice picture Paternoster!
The reception was warm, thank you very much Princes. You are truly a suggestion. Clean, comfortable and quiet on the beach.
It was miraculous. The sound of the sea, the sight of the fishing boats. My spouse was ecstatic. It was his first time and my 2nd visit to Paternoster. I will go again and again.
Good Location and comfortable.
Please book on the website!
Wonderful place. Had a great time. The lobster capital of SA. Definitely recommend. Couldn't ask for a better location.
We spent one night at Strandlopertjie and thoroughly enjoyed how close it is to the beach and all the restaurants. The self-catering rooms were an excellent choice for us and worked very well.
Beautiful beach cottage. It was a hot midsummer day. Sadly the cooling fan in the room was out of order and the patio light was also not working. Otherwise a pleasant stay.
The room was spotlessly clean, nicely furnished and everything needed. Our room did not have a veranda, but it is 10 steps from the beach, which is better than any veranda!
Unfortunately, the country was under phase 5 loadshedding, so we had no power most of the time and therefore no hot water to shower with the next morning. This is not something the owner could help with. The room was very tidy. Everything was clean. The owner brought us an extra light for the loadshedding and helped us with a reference to a very good restaurant for dinner. One point I can highlight is that no form of milk (not fresh or even powdered milk) was offered for coffee. However, we decided to drive instead, as our son had an accident. Beach runner can be recommended.
Calmness. Comfortable.
Paternoster accommodation is expensive and Paternoster accommodation with a sea view is really only available to overseas guests and the wealthiest South Africans, so Strandlopertjie is a nice surprise for those who need budget accommodation, which is most of us these days. Emil communicated with us throughout, so we always knew what to expect. The accommodation is not upmarket, but it really does have everything you will need for a short stay, including a sea view and really close proximity to the beach. It is close to the main parking area, which might irritate some, but we were not bothered at all. The indoor fire place, outdoor braai and seaview made up for the occasional noise, mainly of children and young peole playing, which in my book is not noise. I noticed that some of the complaints in earlier reviews, re blankets and soap, for example, have been addressed by Emil, so those are no longer relevant. We had a lovely time, cosying up in bed, whilst watching the light on the ocean. The beach is literally 30 seconds away, and the little cottage is well-stocked with all the necessary home comforts to make your stay lekker. We can certainly recommend Strandlopertjie 1, which is the self-catering option.
Comfortable accommodation - on the beach close to the harbor and places to eat.
Will definitely drop by again and make use of the web page.
Location, location! We could lie in bed and look at the sea and lovely beach.
Could cook well with a nice view. Very close to the beach, with a good atmosphere.
Emile was very helpful and privacy was also good. I definitely recommend them to prospective guests. Thank you.
The guest house has everything we needed. The accommodation was neat and clean.
Awesome place to stay, Emile was very accommodating! Super cosy with everything you would need. Great location right on the beach with great views. Very special place, can’t wait to stay again!
Very nice peaceful place. Close to the sea, walking distance. Met a lot of people. Our view was one of the best.
Stay was fine, although we did not feel very safe with people harassing us constantly to buy crayfish/mussels/shell hearts. The roof is also leaking in the kitchen and in the room, above the table.
First stay at Strandlopertjie was so nice we decided to visit again. Lovely, clean spot with everything you could need for a beach getaway. Relaxing, great views and safe.
50 m from the sea. Next to the parking area and market. Parking area can get a bit busy until late at night. Nice clean and good linen. Had a nice stay.
Strandloptjie felt like an old fisherman's cottage and therein lies the charm! The plants only grew in the interim so the view is less and there is no direct path to the beach from the 2nd unit.
Saturday evenings with fish market next door very noisy until early hours. Sometimes worried about intoxicated passers-by and vehicles parked on the pavement. For me, good internet service is important for my work.
The place stinks of smoke when you enter. The fireplace smoke in the cottage, the doors and windows must be kept open all the time when making a fire. Everything stinks of smoke. The bathroom is terribly small, shower door only opens a little bit. The bathroom light doesn't work, neither does the outside light. There was no gas for the dust.
We considered the unit to be slightly neglected. Cups that are chipped and stained. Bedding shabby. We stayed in a few places on the West Coast over the course of a week and this was rated as the worst. Although it was not poor as such, but compared to the others, while the price was the same.
Very nice view and bustling against busy street. Place is very small and shower is pathetic.
The little room is a little neat but neat. Thank you very much for the overnight stay.
We enjoyed the stay. The noise is only bad at times. The mattress can be replaced. Unit clean and tidy. Would recommend to someone who wants to be close to the beach.
What I paid here versus other places at the same time, I feel was not worth the money, except for the location.
Roof leaks like a sieve when it rains.
Nice location, place needs attention and a proper cleaning. No closet to hang clothes.
I was not impressed by the place at all. I struggled to get hold of Emil on the day of our arrival. The place was filled with that smokiness of the previous fire inside. The welcome was just the keys handed over and that was it. Got a WhatsApp message later giving me loadshedding time. We couldn't light a fire inside the place because of a bad backdraft which filled the place with smoke as soon as you close the doors. The mat in front of the bed was very dirty, I didn't even want to walk barefoot on it. The bathroom light flickered and eventually remained on. I tried closing the bathroom sliding door and ended up with the handle in my hand. At some time there was a leakage on the fridge coming from the roof (and by the back door) and it wasn't even raining. The stove wasn't working at all and a single gas burner was left to cook on. The microwave door had no handle which was a struggle to open. The shower didn't look clean at all and we showered with our thongs on. The kitchen sink with that old wooden finish wasn't doing it for me either. A door knob on the wardrobe was missing too. The DSTV remote did not work at all. Had to manually change the channels on the decoder - thank God that worked.
It was difficult to get the key to the room as the owner was having lunch and didn't answer his phone. We waited about 45 minutes after arrival. We were tired and wanted to have a shower but had to wait. There was no soap in the room. We had find a shop to buy some.
Room is very small, poorly equipped. Bathroom is so small, one can hardly move. Blinds are broken, can't open. No parking, we had to park on the street. No microwave oven. Fridge very small, and everything was frozen. Very disappointed in the unit.
Bedding and bed are old. Dirt under the bed as well as a vape from a previous client under the bed. Toilet leaks which makes it very unhygienic. Constant noise from the harbor as well as locals shouting at the gate all the time to sell lobster. Shower curtain does not add value to cottage.
Floor mats dirty and broken. Toilet door offers no privacy. Shower curtains (in both units we used) and shower floors dirty. Closet door knob off. TV cables very dirty. Busy street next to the one room. No Wi-Fi. Totally overpriced for what we got.
Location nice close to the sea but very close to the port. On Saturday morning around one o'clock, a bunch of people who had been visiting came to stop at the harbor and turned on their loud music in the car. No one in the vicinity considered.
Was a lovely holiday at a beautiful place.
The silence, the view, location were all good.
Very comfortable for a single traveler with your own path to the beach. Lovely bed linen. Excellent value for money in Paternoster.
Beautiful little cottage. Loved the lavender and chocolate that was placed on the bed.
Rained terribly. Drops like that on the roof were incredible. When we woke up our power was off, but the agent talked to us the whole time and soon everything was sorted out. House needs some attention outside.
Toe ons daar aankom was daar ’n probleem met die eenheid, maar die eienaar het ons sommer dadelik te gemoed gekom met ’n ander eenheid. Ons het baie lekker gebly en die uitsig was uitstekend.

We arrived quite late in Paternoster and the owner left a few bags of wood for us in the fireplace which made for a nice warm seaside weekend.
It was a lovely break. Strandlopertjie is ideal for a weekend getaway. The place is clean and very tidy. Very centrally located within walking distance of the shops and eateries.
I just suggest that the bathroom and toilet facilities should be made more friendly for guests with disabilities. My wife couldn't get up from the toilet by herself and there wasn't enough hold in the shower either.
The location of the unit could not be better, although I have to say that I think it will be a very busy place in peak season. We were there in peak season, but due to lockdown it was quiet. You are, so to speak, on the swimming beach and too happy to see how the fishing boats go in and out to take out lobsters. A precious culture of its own.
The unit we rented was very well equipped and we will definitely book here again.
Friends told us that there is a lot of theft in Paternoster, so we only booked 1 night which we now really regret, it was lovely!
Very nice area and nice place to just go and relax if you want to get away from the city's hustle and bustle.
Mattress needs to be replaced. Handle on the microwave oven. Exterior light bulb needs replacing.
Well equipped, immaculate and in an unbeatable location in Paternoster with a view of the sea. We were just there during a bitterly cold weekend, and should have brought some warmer clothes.
Perfect location if you love the beach.
Strandlopertjie offers accommodation right by the main beach and swimming area. Lay on your bed and watch the beach. Walking distance from the shops and restaurants. Beautiful view!
We needed a place to stay overnight to do a run in the morning. This was perfect for that and it was lovely to be able to walk onto the beach.
It's a lovely cozy little place with a fantastic location. Unfortunately, the draft of the indoor fireplace is less than ideal, so to get the smoke out, you unfortunately have to keep the doors open all the time.
Beautiful, neat room in a stunning location. Small suggestion: The host should consider getting a mattress topper/cover, to convert the twin beds to a comfortable double bed, when it is pushed together for a couple sharing, also provide a double duvet in this instance, instead of 2 single duvets. This being highlighted, it was a lovely evening away, in a stunning setting. We will definitely stay here again if these small changes are available the next time.
See stars.
It was very cold when we were there, and we badly missed extra blankets.
Few steps from the beach and the rest of the town. If proper drawers and hangers can be installed in the hanging closet, it will make the stay much easier.
Basic but very comfortable. Nothing short.
The location is perfect. Close to eateries and the beach. Only one drawback that the fridge did not make cold.
We felt at home and had a great time. The unit is walking distance from the beach and very central to everything. There were wheelchair facilities. Everything was very neat. The fridge, kettle, toilet and shower were in working order. It's a really nice place to stay.
Mr Visagie really needs to fix the roof, it's leaking all over the walls, it was really unpleasant, but it's a nice place.
A little close to the street.
We were not at all happy with the service and communication from the host. We waited an awful long time to check in and the fridge in the first unit didn't work nor was there a porch with a braai. The 2nd night in the larger unit with the stoep and braai was much nicer.
It's located on a very busy street and if you are noise-sensitive it can be a problem (even out of season).
However, lacks attention in terms of maintenance. Power in two of the units trips when you turn on the stove/lights. Light bulbs that don't work. Woodwork needs attention.
A simple fisherman's cottage on the sea. Met our expectations regarding facilities and location. However, security is a concern, not only linked to the unit but the apparent increase in crime in the area. Attention will need to be paid to the shower door.
The unit has a view of the beach and sea.
Als was as advertised, person who had to hand over keys was 20 minutes late and bed definitely needs a new mattress.
The fireplace really smokes a lot into the room and makes it very unpleasant and everything smells of smoke. The bathroom is extremely small and you hardly get in and out of the shower, the drain of which is closed, so you stand in a pool of water. A little extra maintenance will make a big difference.
Lots of noise and you don't feel safe.
No 1's water in the shower runs out very slowly 2 people cannot shower towards each other. Plumbing problem. Window handle broken in toilet. Blinds/curtains by fireplace lining are broken must have had too much sun? Mats in front of bed old, but clean. No blanket for cold nights at no 1. No 1 no WiFi at no 2. No 2 no place to hang clothes. Emil the owner communicates very well with us on WhatsApp and email!
Very disappointed that the presentation of this establishment bore no resemblance to what we encountered.
The location and everything is very nice, but could be better maintained and cleaner.
The place is small but has everything we needed. We could enjoy looking at the sea from our porch, although there was quite a bit of noise with the adjacent parking area right next to the street. The cottage is beautiful and so unique to that area of the West Coast and is very traditionally furnished, which made the experience very special.
The shower wets the entire bathroom, maybe just build a small wall between the shower and the rest of the bathroom. Condensation causes the roof to leak, then drips onto the bed. The TV could be a little bigger. No closets to pack clothes. Pillar right in front of stove makes it very difficult to move in kitchen.
The exterior of the building does not create a good impression for the amount charged per night. Urgent maintenance is required.
Place urgently needs an upgrade. Power tripped continuously. Lights in kitchen area not working. No hot water last morning. Roof leaks rainwater. Place is not very clean. Very expensive for what you get. Carpets are dirty. Wicker chairs are covered with dirty fabric. Cushions on chairs and throw pillows on bed have stains on them.
Not feeling clean.
The house was very clean. Shower door works very hard. Stovetops rusted. For us that only two nights there was sufficient, but do not think for longer than that.
We booked for 4 persons. So we expected to get 2 units next to each other. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Good customer service would mean that we would be informed that the 2 locations are quite a distance from each other. We specifically asked if there was a fireplace - the fireplace was a hearth. The units barely had enough seating for the 4 of us to hang out together - we had to sit on the bed. The roofs leaking both were the last straw. In the bathroom it leaked to such an extent next to the toilet that the toilet paper was wet. A wooden chair's seat is already warping as it seems to rain regularly. I took pictures of this because I don't believe a place should be rented out in such a condition.
All that was acceptable about the place was the clean bedding. Our car was literally parked in the street with no security. We couldn't sit on the porch because the afternoon sun was too bad right on the front door. The window curtains fell apart when we wanted to lower them to get some privacy and to keep the sun out. There was only 1 wine glass. The toilet is so close to the sink wall that I couldn't sit there with my long legs and you bumped your head when you wanted to get up. The shower door couldn't open wide enough either, because it pressed against the other wall of the sink and if you opened it too quickly you would smash it against the wall. I don't know what criteria the website uses but would like to suggest that this particular place be re-evaluated.
Even if it is only a guest room, it was very comfortable, will go back for sure.
Area is quiet. Location and placement of building is fantasy. It was wonderful to enjoy a cup of coffee or to grill a piece of meat with the beach in front of you.
Friendly service and beautiful place.
Strandlopertjie offers everything needed for a peaceful escape from the city. Beautiful views, all the necessary facilities and the indoor and outdoor barbecue is a bonus. We enjoyed our stay and hope to visit again soon.
Wonderful site and neat. Friendly owner. Great value for money.
Pleasant experience, friendly owner.
The place is small but has everything you need, including 8 beautiful views from the braai area and friendly service.
Had good weather. Restaurants nearby and very convenient.
The unit we took was advertised as a wheelchair unit yet there was a step from the stoep into the unit. The unit inside didn't really have enough space to move a wheelchair in so we ended up having to rearrange the bed so my husband could get around. The shower was great but the sink was way too high for a wheelchair user to us. Also the kitchenette had a column very close to it which meant the wheelchair couldn't use the kitchen as there wasn't enough space. Honestly this unit is cute and lovely but did not fit our needs at all and it should not be advertised as a wheelchair unit as it would not pass the tourism board wheelchair standards. We did end up leaving a day earlier than scheduled due to the busy road next to the unit and an ice cream van that stood across the road making a lot of noise on the Saturday. It wasn't quite the relaxing setting we were expecting. The owners of the unit were wonderful and very helpful. I would recommend this unit to non-wheelchair friends.
Very disappointing and totally overpriced. The vacant plot in front of the property is infested with mice. The blinds are in tatters and the pillowcases are worn and washed through. The bathroom door is too small for the opening. Compared to other accommodation at this price in Paternoster, for R1000 per night this unit is sub standard and unacceptable. No Wi-Fi available. It wasn't advertised as being available, but it is the least one would expect in today's day and age. On the positive side, the unit has an excellent location and is in walking distance to everything. I am a host myself on various search engines and consider myself qualified to give a honest opinion and true reflection of our experience.
We felt like the owner was watching us to see if we were doing anything wrong in his place. The place was definitely not worth the price we paid. Seemed like we were living in a place which was just cleaned up quickly for us for the weekend. The bathroom door couldn't even close properly. Unattractive place. Will definitely not be going there again.
Place was neat, tidy and clean. Location is the best, could walk to the beach anytime.
The lady went out of her way to welcome us.
The house was neat and clean. Very well set up. No need for anything.
Fireplace inside, barbecue outside, neat and clean and everything you need with a view of the sea that is unobstructed and beautiful!
Accommodation was pleasant. We felt that our vehicle was not safe.
It was a wonderful weekend. The place is situated on the beach and it makes for a fantastic view in the mornings and also afternoons. The place is spacious and neat. Will go back anytime.
Unforgettable dream holiday. Tons of seafood. Small problem with bathroom, brought it to the owner's attention.
My partner and I spent a lovely two nights at Strandlopertjie. We stayed in the twin room, and loved the on-beach location. Please note that no one cleans the room during one's stay, so remember to bring dishwashing liquid for the crockery. Besides this, we had a brilliant time and would definitely return.
The location right next to a public area was a surprise and a concern (as ultra security conscious Gautenians), but we soon realized it wasn't really a problem. We had a great stay!
It's comfortably furnished with everything you need. The bathroom is a bit cramped. Apart from the fact that we had to wait an hour for the key because the cleaner took it to her house, the stay was otherwise pleasant and I can definitely recommend it.
Very good location and at affordable price. Neat and clean facilities.
The location is good, but was warned by everyone that it's unsafe. The bathroom is very small.
We had a nice view of the sea and the place is within walking distance of the sea. Unit 2 was better equipped and the kitchen was much more convenient. Overall the stay was pleasant.
I really liked the place. Would just have liked to get clean cups and towels every day. Not enough milk and sugar for the weekend.
We spent a lovely, peaceful weekend at Strandlopertjie 1. In holiday times it can probably get a bit busy as the place to stay is close to the sea market, but nice and quiet when we were there. Just a few meters from the sea (with a sea view from the veranda by the outdoor barbecue) and within walking distance of the hotel and other places. The indoor grill for those cold evenings works very well.
Strandlopertjie urgently needs an upgrade. Everything is old and sheets and pillowcases weathered. Floors need urgent renovation, as well as the bathroom.
The room is a shack of about 5 x 5 m. It hasn't been painted in a long time. Braai area in the room stinks of soot and ash. Have to sit diagonally on the toilet due to cramped conditions. The shower was blocked. You should not be marketing such places. We moved out after one night to much better accommodation.
Was incredibly nice. The location and view was amazing, right on the beach. Cottages are small but very well equipped and our host made sure we arrived safely was always close and available. Would recommend if you are looking for a quiet, small town where you can just sleep and walk on the beach or read a book. Maybe just needs a hammock on that porch.
Had a lovely stay. Everything was neat, clean and stylish. Will definitely stay here again.
The place is beautiful with the most beautiful sea view. Close to the beach, walking distance to everything you need, driving distance to Tieties Bay. The owner is very pleasant and helpful. Thank you very much for a wonderful week.
First visit to Paternoster and will definitely visit again in the future.
My wife and I decided to take a peaceful ride with the motorcycle to Paternoster. The booking for Strandlopertjie was problem free. Emil even sent an e-mail beforehand to confirm that our unit is just a room with no kitchen facilities or braai (the other two units have apparently). Strandlopertjie is 40 meters from the sea. Even though there were two major events in Paternoster that weekend, it was not disturbing. Strandlopertjie is walking distance from at least seven restaurants. I parked on Friday afternoon and did not climb the motorcycle on Sunday again. It's great to go for a long afternoon to the Voorstrandt Restaurant for something to drink while sunbathing and just sitting there for dinner while the dusk and sea are right in front of you.
Strandlopertjie was ideal for the two of us regarding our expectations for the weekend. We just wanted to rest and went out for a romantic dinner every night. The kitchen is smart enough to be able to prepare huge meals but meets all the basic needs. There was a group of young people who stayed opposite at the weekend and were rowdy but we were minimally at the unit so it didn't bother us much. View in the mornings is lovely with a cup of coffee on the porch. Just one tip - maybe you can put an ash bin in the kitchen for coziness.
Very nice stay. Pretty view.
We enjoyed our stay - it was a good location and nice place.
Quietest 2 days of a 14 day road trip from Pretoria, Elandsbaai to in J-bay. Very good stay and would visit again and recommend to anyone.
It is a lovely cottage with everything you need supplied. Loved the fact that you are meters from the sea and just down the road from restaurants and shops.
Very good location in Paternoster. Might just buy a new mattress as we didn't sleep well. The unit is very neat and everything you need is there.
Overall impression and experience typically that of a small coastal town with pleasant people.
Annoying public noise carries on for too long into the nights. Loud music from vehicles and the revving of vehicle engines makes it very unpleasant during night times, this happened from early evenings and continued to carry-on past midnight.
Towels had stains. Kitchen and cutlery very limited. Rickety furniture.
Apart from cold weather it was very pleasant.
Location great, fridge big enough, my 2 Morkies were together, they enjoyed it too, shower a nice big head and water nice and hot - even nicer that it was an indoor and outdoor barbecue.
Neat and clean although our shower's drainage was not up to standard. Great visit and walking distance to everything.
Paternoster is a very pretty town. Strandlopertjie was very nice to spend the night in.
The accommodation was one of my highlights of my holiday. Along with that, everyone was friendly. And yes, the place cannot be described in words, thank you very much Ina.
It was great, from arrival on Friday until depature on Sunday. Will want to stay longer on my next holiday.
Beautiful place and neat.
For us city jays, the tranquility is heavenly as befits the West Coast.
Hubby and me had 3 wonderful days, just too short. Little house was cosy with the fireplace.
The accommodation was excellent and you couldn't ask for a better view. Highly recommended.
The location is perfect and the people are friendly. Really enjoyed it and would recommend it for sure.
Wonderful weekend for a getaway and relaxation. Three of our friends will definitely like this trip. The food, environment and people were wonderful.
Clean and neat accommodation - also near the beach, restaurants and facilities. Communication with LekkeSlaap and Strandlopertjie was excellent. Can recommend it to my friends.
The accommodation exceeded our expectations, the location was perfect and the view any tourist's dream! We will definitely come back. Facilities are more than sufficient.
Pleasant, friendly, quiet and peaceful. Nice getaway from everything. Wil be back anytime. Doesn't look like much when you arrived and the location made us a bit nervous, but it was unnecessary worries, the place is great. Thanks for nice, comfy accommodation!
Have always loved Paternoster, but Strandlopertjie was the cherry on top! Awesome place! Definitely one of my bests!
The room is close to the beach and conveniently close to the town also for a nice walk. The room is comfortably furnished for a night or two's stay. The one drawback is the proximity of the public amenities for street market. Lobster vendors can become overbearing after a while if you want to sit outside in peace.
Peaceful, lovely cottage right on the sand.
Small but clean and comfortable. Close to the beach and central to the town, on a very noisy road.
Lovely place, everything you need for 2 people! Perfect location, because you don't have to drive anywhere with restaurants on your doorstep! Just a pity that they all close so early! Expected a lot more noise because of the previous reviews, seeing as how it was the holiday season! Customer service: no complaints, friendly and helpful especially if you take into account that Lossie Visagie can't speak because of her illness. Very pleasant hostess and family that supports her.
Strandlopertjie is located right at the entrance to the main beach. There is a lot of noise because all the cars, buses, motorbikes and walkers pass/walk right in front of you. Besides the fact that the place is very small, there is no place to hang clothes. The stove plates were rusty and the shower curtain was very dirty.
The unit is quiet pleasant. Just because it is located in a very busy area. There is traffic day and night.
I don't know what the other units look like but Strandlopertjie No 1 isn't value for the R950 spent per night. You can believe the other people who say the same - I didn't and got a big surprise.
Great for relaxing and recharging your batteries!
Thank you very much, the booking was without any pains, I received regular feedback, and the time in Paternoster was pleasant.
Definitely worth while.
Just one word for the place: Beautiful. It is a beautiful, clean and tidy place to stay and I will definitely go there again.
Exactly what we needed, paradise near the beach. Will definitely go back.
We enjoyed the unit very much, it was very neat and well-appointed. Walking distance from the best restaurant in town (Voorstrand). Only negative thing is that it is close to the public parking area that gets busy. We really enjoyed the place, it was very peaceful and quiet during the week. Will definitely stay there again.
Very nice. On the beach. Everything you need is there.
Strandlopertjie is beautifully furnished, very tidy and well located. We enjoyed our stay and the beautiful view from the porch was very special.
Good location and well equipped. Great for 2 nights. Bathroom not suitable for large persons (doorway of the shower is narrow, but lovely shower!)
The agent who had to give us the key called and said that they only until 17:00, and on the web it is different. There was also no information about where the keys should be handed in.
Nice view of the sea, close to the stalls which makes it feel a bit unsafe.
Very nice place with a nice view.
See rating.
Paternoster is beautiful and we will definitely return there, but the location of Strandlopertjie is by the fish market and where the boats are let out to water, so there's no privacy or silence.
Basic amenities for a night or two, but wouldn't like to stay longer than that. No hair dryer.
Parking a problem. Unit is not cleaned. However, there is everything needed and the location is excellent. Beautiful place.
The town itself is very nice. Our host was a no-show the whole 3 days we were there. We arrived late afternoon 31/12 with no host in sight. A SMS was sent to let me know where the keys were and we had no idea where to go from there. We did feel a bit lost and unsure. The accomodation can do with a braai facility - even a portable braai will do - as the town itself closes down early in the evenings and no places were open on 31/12.
Sien gerus die sterre.
We stayed at Strandlopertjie No 1. Something needs to be done about the gate. Need to be able to lock it when going out. The toilet was stinking during the day and night.
The roof of the first unit leaked. The dishes were dirtye and the place smelled bad. The bathroom of the second unit was so small, you can't even properly get to the shower or sit on the toilet. Think the place is not worth more than R250 per night.
Good points: The location of Strandlopertjie is unbeatable... in all probability one of the best in the world! The fresh air and beautiful weather that currently prevails is good for one's soul. The fireplace in unit 3 is a bonus and the atmosphere created by the guest house and the village is very nice. Bad points: The standard falls a bit short compared to other places of the same class. The roof leaks when it rains, the toaster in unit 1 is broken and the mattress is not of tourist standard. It appears that Mrs. Visagie doesn't want to interact with her customers, and I'm sorry. She is sitting on a "prime spot" and should capitalize on it. Nevertheless, a fantastic place!
Very nice place, just a pity about the smell in the room, flies in the room and noise from the locals driving their cars on the beach.
Although it was a really cute little place to stay. Being right next to the beach parking, on the Sunday night people were playing music full blast till late at night and there were lots of people that were begging for food when we sat on the balcony. It was very loud with traffic for most of the day. The place was very neat and well kept and would have been great if it wasn't for the noise.
Great location, but very sparsely furnished. Safety a huge concern - for us much worse than Jozi!
We received good service when we arrived. I have not yet received my receipt for my final payment at Strandlopertjie. It was going to be emailed to me but nothing to date! The power was out on the day that we left. The manager/owner did not do anything to inform guests about the power outage. They sat and drank coffee, but didn't think about offering guests boiling water or to make them some coffee. Only when I mentioned that coffee would taste nice they offered, but it had to come from their side first. Your guests are your priority. I am used to having complimentary coffee, milk and sugar at any self-service unit (and we have been to many). They usually have rusks too. At Strandlopertjie it is not available. There weren't even shampoo and body lotion which is standard at other places. The bath towels are too small and not standard for a place that make its money off tourists. One probably just pays for the location and not the service.
Too close to the street and felt unsafe. Not worth it.
We slept very well. Good linen. Cute layout of the room.
Strandlopertjie offers comfortable self-catering accommodation right on the beach. Restaurants are within walking distance. Affordable and relaxing getaway destination.
A well equipped place to stay, very private with a nice view from your private veranda.
