Idyllic seaside experience at Stroois in Stilbaai: We had the privilege of spending a weekend at the beautiful holiday home, Stroois, located along the coast in Stilbaai. This experience exceeded everything we hoped for for a relaxing getaway. Location and view. Stroois' location is exceptional. The house is literally a few steps from the sea, making it a perfect destination for anyone who has lost their heart to the coast. Every morning we woke up to the peaceful sound of the waves and an unparalleled view of the sparkling water. Stay. The house itself is spacious, well appointed and extremely comfortable. It has all the facilities you might need for self-catering accommodation, from a fully equipped kitchen to a cozy lounge with a large indoor braai. The bedroom was just as comfortable, with clean bedding, a beautiful view and a peaceful atmosphere that makes for a good night's rest. Hospitality. The owners made us feel welcome. We were kindly received and quickly felt at home in this home away from home. The attention to detail and the beauty of the property clearly shows that they care about the experience of their guests. Activities and environment. Stilbaai itself offers a wide variety of activities for anyone who wants to explore and seek adventure. We had a lovely walk on the beach, visited farm markets, and even soaked up a bit of local history. The location of Stroois is ideal for this kind of exploration. Rounding off. In short, our stay at Stroois in Stilbaai was an unforgettable experience. It gave us the opportunity to relax and recharge amidst a beautiful natural scene. We found it bitterly cold in the house as it is fully thatched. The bathroom and bedroom was freezing, but of course that is thatch and the draft filters in everywhere. Next time we would like to go back when weather is warmer.

We had a lovely, restful stay at Stroois. Firm comfy bed, huge indoor braai, all the basic kitchen facilities. Felt very private but only because there were no people in the Voorhuis, which is a part of Stroois and rented for larger groups separately. Beautiful surroundings! A slice of heaven for sure!

If you are looking for a private, romantic break, this is an absolute gem. Tucked away in a quiet corner of a tranquil private nature reserve, Stroois is the ultimate way to get away from it all. Hosts Ben and Woutrine go above and beyond to ensure everything is perfectly prepared - all you need to do is pack your food, swimsuits and sun block and turn up. The cottage sits perched on a hill above the ocean, so you fall asleep and wake up to the roar of the waves. It is the closest I have ever stayed to the ocean without actually getting wet. There is an endless choice of beaches, rock pools and hikes within easy walking distance of the cottage and feeding the tame eels at the Tourism Office every day at 11am is an eclectic experience not to be missed. However, the cottage is so idyllic, you may just want to stay home and soak in the gorgeous views and peace and quiet. Highly recommend.

Wonderful place and it is also the second time we have chosen Stroois as accommodation. The view is breathtaking and nice walks in the area. There are also the interesting fish pond to watch. Just be aware that the house can get very cold if there is a cold front with a cold wind. There was definitely a cold feel up in the bedroom (close the bathroom door, it helps) and also in the lower part of the living room it can get cold. Bring warm clothes for the unpredictable. Fortunately, there is a heater. We had a great time relaxing.

Permanent sea view when you sleep, shower and eat. One hears the waves breaking on the rocks all day and night. It was idyllic! We could barbecue inside the house and still sit and watch the sea. Saw whales 2 times and even encountered a seal on the rocks when we went for our walk. It was really a very nice experience.

The private path down to the beach was also a bonus. The kids enjoyed the sea shells and rock pools on the one side of the house, and the beach on the other side so much. It was a lovely sandy swimming beach. Really great value for money and we'd definitely stay here again.
