We recently had a beautiful stay at the charming Studio 28 apartment that truly exceeded my expectations. From the moment we walked in, I was struck by how well-equipped and meticulously neat the space was. Every detail was thoughtfully arranged, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The amenities provided made our stay incredibly comfortable, allowing us to relax and enjoy our time. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to prepare meals, and the cozy living area was perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. We are left with wonderful memories and a desire to return.

Had an extremely pleasant and peaceful stay at Studio 28a. The location was perfect and serene. In close proximity to the town. The studio was very neat and met our requirements for the duration we spent. A kind suggestion to fix the tap in the kitchen and the shower head as this causes water wastage for the owner. A small toaster would also be great. The check-in and check-out was swift. No hassles.

We enjoy staying at Laroral Terrace. A very safe complex in Clarens. Studio 28 is nice because you can park in front of the unit for easy unpacking and packing the car again. Has everything you need cutlery and crockery wise. Love that the furniture is minimal, more than enough for 2 people, no unnecessary stuff standing around just taking up space. Thanks Val, we will definitely be back again.

Very nice stay at Studio 28. The grill at the braai just needs to be replaced and the sliding door is stuck, so it is difficult to open and close. It may also be recommended to put handrails at the stairs for older residents and guests.

I called the host and asked for the iron, and she told me that in 14 years nobody asked her for the iron to iron the clothes. I think they should tell people in advance that their toilet is not working properly and visitors should bring their own iron.

Absolutely fantastic service received from Valerie, although communicated via email due to the pandemic. Apartment is beautiful, and incredibly neat. Due to circumstances, my dog children, who are both still very young, had to travel with us, with arrangements at short notice, there was also no problem with them traveling with us.

We did notice it was not too far from Clarens, one could walk to the village. Adequatley furnished all round.

The only thing I would improve in the unit is the fridge/deepfreeze. The deep-freezer is extremely small for a self catering unit we could only fit a packet of frozen veg and one pack meat. So if you are like us and enjoy making food plan your foods that wont need much fridge/deepfreeze space. But other wise the unit is amazing and has everything you need for a relaxed trip to Clarens.

No ventilation. Had to close back door because there was no security gate. The back door on the street and not safe to keep open. Faucets leak and bathroom not clean.

There are enough heaters, warm blankets and regular blankets for when it's cold. We did not visit cold Clarens but now know for the future.

Upon our arrival, the room had a very funny smell. The place was neat, but there were areas that were not properly cleaned. The dishes weren't washed so nicely, I had to wash what we wanted to use again. The room was nice and warm and we also slept nice and warm. It's a pretty old place, not modern at all. There is a small two plate stove, and old fridge that is falling apart. Would we book there again? No, not just, no.

There was a water leak in the bathroom. I called owner and told about it. She says her handyman has already fixed it. Handyman came out on Saturday. Said he would bring it to her attention. I asked for extra towels or cloths for the water. Couldn't even sit on toilet then your feet were wet. Owner does not live in Clarens. Couldn't help me with extra cloths. If you go on Hello Peter, in 2019 there were already people who complained about the water in the bathroom. Refrigerator doesn't work well either. And is just a small fridge for a weekend stay.

Garden is not really taken care of. Can be upgraded. Cracks in the walls and there was still dust on the bedside lamps.

"The worst place I have ever stayed in Clarens."

En route to Clarens the owner called to say that they have discovered a leak in the bathroom "that morning" - as I understand that these things happen and nobody can predict it I said we understand and if it is a small leak we can live with it - she assured me that there's a towel which will absorb the water until Wednesday morning when we depart. When we got to the apartment we noticed that this is not a "small leak" - I've sent a message to the owner (because she called me about this problem.) and she got back to me with a very rude voice message to say "she is driving and she can't read my messages" she also continued to say "when the plumber was there yesterday (so she was not honest with me by saying they saw the leak that morning). The plumber told her it was under control and he can not fix this leak now. I would have accepted her apology if she was not so utterly rude! So on Sunday when we arrived the bathroom was now flooded - it was uncomfortable and also a health risk - and I told her so - she said we can turn the water off and it is not such a big leak. This is her responsibility! She was very very rude - and due to that we spoke to her in the same manner - as she did not show any respect for us - her guests, she made us feel as if we are unreasonable and we were not! We had to turn the water off and the next day the plumber arrived - when he opened it the water was pouring out and he said it is worse than what he saw on Saturday (the day before we arrived). Why did they not fix it properly then the day before we arrived. We stayed in Studio 28 A & B - the kitchen cupboards are not very clean and there was a bad smell. The fridge was smelly too. I suggest if you stay at Studio 28 you do not attempt to cook anything - the kitchen is very very small and inconvenient, The trash was not taken out on Monday - we took it out ourselves only to find that the outside bins were also so full. The owner did offer to move one couple to another place for one night, but we were a group of 4 and by that time we were already having a braai and wanted to be together - that was exactly why I booked the 2 rooms next to each other - eventually, she refunded us half of our one night's accommodation - I am not worried about the money - no amount of money can compensate for her rudeness. The only positive remark I can make is that the beds were clean and comfortable. As this was the first time our friends visited Clarens we were embarrassed by this establishment. Ps - the one plastic chair broke - the plastic gets hard and it cracks from being left outside in the sun. We broke one glass and replaced it with 2 other glasses. We had a very unpleasant experience.

Unfortunately there was a lot of noise and commotion on Friday and Saturday night.

"Place needs a cleaning and an upgrade."

The location, right across from a water treatment plant or a very old municipal swimming pool that sits empty. Well only 1.5km from the CBD but it's not walking distance. Also opposite the informal settlement, which is not too safe in Africa, the late night noise also bothers. The unit itself definitely needs attention and the bathroom is not clean, especially the bathtub. It should almost become a requirement to have photos of the bathroom on the page as well and no photo older than 12 months.

Self-catering unit well equipped with a cleaning service for every day, including Sundays. Very cold unit due to tile and cement floors. Heater doesn't help much, thankfully for electric blankets.

The area is well located, quiet and away from busy city life. I think the owner just needs to be more accommodating and approachable. I paid for two nights, but the money for one night didn't yet reflect on her account, but she was adamant that if I do not pay the outstanding amount, she will not allow me to sleep over, not taking into account that the one night has already been paid for. I paid that night and only to get SMS the following morning, making the unnecessary refund though it was not a hassle to get money back. The bath didn't have a stopper causing us to use the plastic. In general, Studio 28 is a very quiet place giving you the moment to relax.

We had to stay one night in Clarens and Studio 28 was perfect. Friendly customer service and accommodating.

The location is not ideal, because the nearest neighbourhood is quite noisy (which could be attributed to the holiday season). It did make us feel a bit unsafe, but the presence of security guards on the premises and especially at the parking was very good for our peace of mind. The unit itself was very convenient and everything was very clean.

Studio 28 is adequate accommodation for a couple. Just a few suggestions which we found could be improved. 1) The fridge is too small and does not provide sufficient space for a couple. Self-catering unit should have a fridge which at least can take more than a small packet of meat and some ice. 2) The freezer was frozen up and needs to be checked before guests arrive. 3) Consider to have better channels on the TV bouquet, no sport channels etc, SA played an international cricket game and had to watch it at a restaurant. 4) Consider to have a somewhat larger TV set in the room. The unit is well fitted out with all the needs for self-catering.

We did not like that the cleaners put our personal belongings in other places. It invades your personal space.

"Accommodation was old, neglegted and dirty."

Compared to the other places we booked with LekkeSlaap, this place was bad. The firdge wasn't turned on when we arrived. Bathroom tiles covered in mildew and the bottom of the soapholder contains the remains of previous bars of soap. There was a mouse in the bathroom (but I don't think I can blame the owners for this). Notice in the bathroom says guests may use the ashtray outside - there was no ashtray. The TV is terrible - we had to call the owner the first night to help us to get the thing to work (she was very patient and gave instructions on the phone). Maybe we were under the wrong impression that we could get the same level of accommodation at the same price in Clarens that we got in the previous town - our conclusion: accommodation in Clarens is expensive - next time we will choose a more expensive accommodation option to make sure we get better and cleaner facilities. All things considered, Clarens is a wonderful place.

If one flees the city noise to Clarens, the last thing one expects is the night sounds, music, sounds and sight of the neighboring informal settlement. Literally in direct view from the unit. The unit is not "near" the town rectangle of Clarens (as referred to in a previous review), unless the term "near" refers to transport to it by car. If so, well then all the areas of Clarens are "nearby". Regarding the unit itself: the bed, bedding, crockery and cutlery are in good condition and clean. Overall the unit is clean. The heaters are a welcome addition. Parking is approximately 40 to 50 meters away from the unit in a central covered area.

It was nice to be contacted by Valerie herself to make sure we got the Studio, she met us at the entrance to the town and escorted us to the front door. She explained everything and gave us a map of the town herself.

Totally overpriced for a very small chalet. Extra attention to cleaning especially floors required. The kitchenette consists of the double sink behind the entrance door with a double plate stove attached to it. No work surface for preparing food. So guests are actually forced to eat out which is very expensive. Refrigerator far too small to bring own meat, can only make ice. Informal neighborhood is nearby and the blare of music during the day and especially at night is incredibly disturbing, it feels like the sound equipment is right next to the chalet. Definitely will not use this again.

"Place we never see again!"

The accommodation was adjacent to the location. The bathroom was in a state, does not look at all like in the pictures. We were without water from early Saturday morning and only when we got home late Saturday night, there was water again. After I called the owner in the morning and also in the afternoon to say about the water and that we have a wedding to go to so we need water. I know a burst pipe is beyond one's control, but then someone providing accommodation must have a plan B. Only after I contacted LekkeSlaap, the owner called us and said we could shower at a friend's house. It was a nightmare experience, and I will not recommend the place to anyone or will I ever go back again.

Studio 28 did not live up to expectations and I certainly would not recommend it. Location dubious, the unit itself was pokey and dirty. Very overpriced for the location and amenities offered. A few stale tea bags, sugar but no milk and no basic toiletries at all. A ripoff!
