The Mountain House and Chalet are on one site however, they are not close together.
The Mountain House uses solar power, gas and a wood-burning donkey. It offers sleeping space for 6 guests and has 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen, a living room and a porch. The first bedroom is fitted with a king-size bed and bunk beds, while the second room is fitted with a double bed. The bathroom has a bath, sink and separate toilet. Hot water is only available in the bathroom and is provided by a wood-fired donkey. The unit has a splash pool and there is also a boma with braai facilities.
Stukkie Stilte Chalet is a self-catering unit which can accommodate up to 2 guests. The chalet uses solar power and gas and does not have electricity. The Chalet has an open-plan kitchen with a dining and lounge area. The chalet has 1 bedroom fitted with a double bed and a bathroom fitted with a bath, sink and a toilet. An outside braai area is available.
Both kitchens are equipped with a fridge, gas stove, oven, cutlery and crockery. Meals can be enjoyed at the dining table.
Activities in the area include bird watching, hiking and cycling. Massages are also available on request if arranged in advance.

11 guests' feedbackRest, rest and more rest. The weekend at Stukkie Stilte Berghuis was wonderful. The stars are so bright in the evening, it feels like you are in heaven.
What a nice weekend getaway with quality family time without technology. Quiet and private. Simple but all you need. The donkey was very interesting for the children to experience. Lovely little pool that also works with a donkey. Real old-fashioned farmhouse with the most beautiful view on the stoep.
The place was calm and relaxed and not too far away from Pretoria. 2 hr drive and you are under the stars. Great with the heated pool outside that the wife enjoyed and also save and fenced for our little Jack Russel.
We had a very nice stay. The house is very well equipped for self-catering with a fridge, gas stove and all cooking necessities. There were even farm eggs and coffee provided. The house is 'rustic' but families should enjoy staying there. There was mostly cell phone reception except when it was load shedding. The owner provided more than enough wood for the barbecue and to keep the two donkeys busy. The stoep is probably the best part with a very nice view of the farm during the day and stars at night. The splash pool was very nice and even on a cold night you could swim with the donkey heating it. We had a nice walk around the gorge and stream that flows through the farm. A carved out and marked walking route will help a lot, because it's a beautiful farm. Would recommend the accommodation to people who want to escape from the city's noise and are looking for peace and quiet.
Unbelievably beautiful view with farms and mountains all around. The cottage has everything you need and you can certainly use the pool/jacuzzi for a cocktail as it's great after a day of walking and moving around, watching the sun go down. The farm eggs that are given are just as delicious for a good breakfast that will start your day perfectly.
We had a wonderful stay at the place. The house has everything you need for a nice holiday: a gas stove, solar lights, and a very nice fire place/boma. The little pool came in handy. Dianna and Naas made sure we had enough wood for the fire and the donkey, and they were really very helpful. I would highly recommend the place.
We had a nice time. Ignatius and Diane received us very kindly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Bedding was spotless. We enjoyed heating the donkey for hot water and sitting on the porch for hours with the view. We could have a nice walk. Although the house is "rustic", it had everything we needed and gave us exactly what we were looking for - to forget about the city.
Family time without signal! Breathtakingly delicious.
We really enjoyed the place. Unfortunately could not cycle due to the type of soil and loose stones on the farm. But walked and experienced the peace and tranquility. Rested, nicely grilled in the lapa next to the house. Very quiet, only hear foxes at night. The donkey was a challenge, but after we mastered it, it was great fun.
Lovely to sit drinking coffee on the stoep or go for walks. Diane was a great host, very friendly and very helpful. The cottage itself has some details that need fixing/finishing off, but is equipped with all you need.
Diane made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The house is beautiful and she thought of everything to make it comfortable for people. Nature is beautiful. One wouldn't say there isn't power in the cottage with all the luxuries she added. Very comfortable. Diane and her husband went out of their way to assist us when we had a problem with one of our tires on our vehicle when we checked out. We will definitely use them again. Nice cozy place to hang out away from the city's noise.

Please note, that there is a gravel road leading to the accommodation, and it is advised that vehicles with higher clearance or a 4x4. The chalet can be reached with a regular vehicle. Sports cars are not recommended. Guests are required to enquire about the road's condition before arrival, as it could be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances.Depending on the road conditions, guests would need to walk up to the accommodation which is approximately a 500 m walk uphill.
Please note the house is not equipped with electricity but is powered by solar panels and gas. Guests are required to bring along their own wood and flashlights just in case the lights are not available due to weather conditions. There is no warm water available in the kitchen only in the bathroom and warm water is distributed through a solar geyser.
There is a fridge-freezer. Guests must bring their own wood, fire lighters and towels. Guests can also bring extra blankets and comfortable camping chairs for next to the braai. Two pillows per person are provided and there are 2 blankets on each bed.
Smoking is not allowed.
Please note that the chalet's geyser works on a timer.
Guide dogs are welcomed by prior arrangements.
Guests are to bring their own fire starters, camp chairs and towels.
