19 guests' feedbackWe had such a nice stay at Sun Karros Daan Viljoen Wildlife Park. The wildlife was amazing, the place is so nice and clean and you could just relax. The staff were very helpful and we had a very nice meal in the restaurant. I would definitely recommend the place!
Value for money and will spend time there again.
The camping facilities were simply excellent. We had our own private bbq, toilet, shower and wash up facilities. We saw plenty of giraffe, kudu, warthogs, baboons, ostrich, wildebeest, some springbok and some smaller deer. It was good for 1 night, and if we were able to do a small hike than 2-3 nights would have been better. 2 nights is probably about right perhaps, as there are no significant predators within the park. So depends why you have gone there. We had a good time.
We had a lovely stay here on our way back to South Africa and were actually very surprised that there were so few holidaymakers as it is a lovely place with excellent facilities and wonderful staff. We regret that we could not stay longer but Daan Viljoen Game Park will see us again. Highly recommended!
Very neat camping facilities. Showers are difficult to drain as there is no sloping floor. WiFi very limited!
Beautiful small nature reserve, ideal for hiking and a little game drive. Lovely cottage, but the bathroom was not clean. There was hair in the drain and mold on the wall in the shower. I accidentally broke a glass in the bathroom. The broken glass was removed, but I still found a lot of glass splinters on the washbasin after cleaning. The restaurant offers a very limited menu, with no starters at all. The healthy breakfast is perfect, and the staff in both the restaurant and the reception are professional.
Had an amazing time. The staff was super friendly. Rooms were spacious and clean. Baboons are a nuisance, though.
Very nice place, quiet and in nature.
We stayed here for 2 nights, and it was lovely and comfortable. Two things to consider: 1. Baboons come by every morning and night and are tame and will take anything they think is food - up to my electric kettle. So everything must be under lock and key. 2. Nowhere in the discussion was I made aware that a conservation fee and vehicle fee must be paid additionally to the Park!
Campsites very sloping with little or no shade trees.
Limited facilities.
As soon as we stepped in, I was annoyed with the gate guard who did not welcome us properly. He sat and lay in his chair and did not even deign to get up. Grumpy too. Unit no 3 was a big disappointment as we had no hot water for showering the next morning in the bitter cold. The gas system simply did not work. The terrain around the unit is also not level and I was forced to pitch my tent on the unit's porch. There was no mention of grass, as in the photos. The restaurant area also closes at 17:00.
We really regret that we only used Daan Viljoen as an overnight stop - it's really worth staying for a few days. The accommodation is very unique and luxurious, neat and modern. There are nice routes where you can go for a walk in the field and among the wildlife (goats). And it's barely a 15-minute drive outside of Windhoek. So if you want a peaceful visit outside the city's bustle, but still want to be close to the city's amenities, Daan Viljoen is just the place for you! Highly recommended - enjoy!
The rooms are very nicely done, the sinks are a bit impractical - waste water. The lights' switches are a bit funny spacer - bedside lamps' switch e.g. at the front door and outside lights at braai not available.
At the beginning of Sep the grass was sparse, but apparently after the summer rains it will grow well again.
They don't do refunds.
Nice peaceful place to stay on the way further or to explore Windhoek which is nearby.
Excellent accommodation and the food at the restaurant - dinner and breakfast - was also excellent.
Our stay was pleasant and we were able to see 12 different species of antelope during our circular route in the park. This is in addition to the tame ostrich, warthog and blue wildebeest that we visited at our campsite.
