This renovated cottage has double-glazed windows throughout, as well as insulation below the floor and in the ceiling. The cottage comprises 1 bedroom furnished with a queen-size bed and an en-suite bathroom fitted with a very large shower, a basin, and a toilet. The open-plan kitchen contains a gas countertop with a gas oven, a halogen oven, a dishwasher, an electric frying pan, a fridge, a kettle, a microwave, and a toaster.
The adjacent open-plan living area features a TV with full DStv channels and a cosy wood-burning fireplace. Stacking doors separate the lounge and veranda. On the veranda is a built-in braai facility and another set of stacking doors open to maximize the incredible views. Guests have access to free Wi-Fi Internet access.
The cottage is within close proximity to the town’s amenities. It exudes tranquillity and peace away from city life.
The Umzimkulu River is accessible from the back of the property. Walking sticks and a picnic set are provided in the cottage.
In the private garden is a stone fire pit where you can sit and watch the sunsets over the Southern Drakensberg. There are two rescued donkeys on the property and very friendly dogs and free-roaming chickens and runner ducks.

19 guests' feedbackWe were greeted by the very friendly and welcoming hosts. We had a lovely stay, from the stunning view and sunsets to feeding the chickens in the morning and playing with the dogs. It's very close to the shopping centre if you need anything, but it also gives the feeling of being in nature and not near any roads. Truly an amazing stay. Would highly recommend to anyone. The flat is very well equipped and stays warm even when it's freezing outside.
It's a new, clean and well-kept cottage containing anything you might have forgotten. The owners are lovely, friendly and accommodating. The setting is just beautiful, with it earning its name as Sunset Cottage. It has a lovely little private garden with a braai. If it's too cold, there's one on the enclosed patio too, which has big glass doors to let in the sunset but keep out the cold. We loved the animals! There are gorgeous dogs to keep you company and some curious chickens and ducks to feed, which all just makes for an all-round lovely experience.
Our stay was amazing and our hosts were attentive to every need. Next time we are in the area, we won't even consider staying anywhere else.

We had a very nice stay. The accommodation was neat, clean and the surroundings beautiful. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. (We could only find a braai bowl for our meat and the mattress was already a little crooked.)

Firewood for the fireplace, tea, coffee, milk and sugar. The firewood, tea, coffee, milk and sugar were very welcome and an added bonus. Virginia was very accommodating and helpful.
Accommodation is extremely neat, best view and location. Very well furnished, wood is provided for barbecue, firelighters and even matches. Owners go out of their way to make you feel at home. Best service we have ever received.
We booked at Sunset View Self-catering Cottage Underberg. What an incredibly special place. The owners, John and Virginia went out of their way to make our time special. There was not a thing that was lacking, not even during load shedding. They have the most beautiful view and what a beautiful environment too. It was our first time in the Drakensberg, what a good experience we didn't have? Even the village is spotless and tidy. This place deserves 5 stars! Can highly recommend it to any couple. Thank you very much John and Virginia for your hospitality.
This cottage is absolutely comfortable and relaxing for a couple who wants a peaceful break, the environment is so lovely with poultry roaming around animals if you are a lover of dogs and donkeys, cats didn't visit as I have a phobia for them, the owners are warm and loving people who go out of their way to ensure your vacation is a good one, thanks to Virginia and John, will definitely love going back at another time.
This cottage was everything we expected and more. Very well situated with wonderful views of the mountains! The hosts are are amazingly friendly and we felt right at home. We were there in the middle of June and the cottage was lovely, warm and cosy. We got such a kick out of being able to make fires in 3 different fireplaces in one day. Would absolutely recommend to anyone.

Sunset View exceeded our expectations. From the moment we stopped there, the hosts welcomed us very kindly. The cottage was very stylish and tidy. We had a wonderful time at Sunset View Cottage and would love to go back again.
Brand new, great design with necessary s/s fittings. Folding patio doors make indoor barbecue tops! Unique welcoming committee with chickens and dogs as members. Have a nice time, thank you.

This accommodation is excellently designed with modern furnishings and comfort in mind. The indoor braai area is separated from the rest of the house by a glass door so the smoke from the fire does not blow inside the cottage - a very nice touch after we have experienced smokey bedrooms in other holiday cottages in other parts of the country. You are able to braai and watch the views on cool days and evenings in the warmth of the double-glazed enclosed verandah. Everything one can need on a holiday is available including a warm comfy bed, a dishwasher, firewood, and all amenities. Lovely touches by the hosts include flowers on the table, tea and coffee facilities, and also herbs and salt and pepper for meal preparation. The hosts went out of their way to accommodate us, recommending a wonderful tour of Sani Pass and good fishing spots. Lovely animals on the property that was very friendly and cuddly but would never bother anyone who didn't enjoy being around furry friends. We would really recommend this cottage for a getaway. We will be back for longer next time!
