Bertie immediately made us feel at home. We experienced Sutherland's hospitality and had a great time.
Good, friendly service from Bertie. Accommodation met needs, was third time we stayed there. However, renovations to the shower and water pressure would be a big improvement. Inverter for power outages will also help.
A suggestion would only be to make access to the guest house wheelchair friendly.
The location was good, but the shower pressure was really, really bad. No one could take a shower. Was safe and lovely to have electric blankets on beds.

We had a very nice stay. The house as a whole has everything one could need. The heaters and electric blankets are a winner. An enclosed porch would have been the icing on the cake, it gets a bit cool outside with the braai.

Our hosts were great - the house was clean, well-stocked and spacious, all modern amenities. We hadn't ordered breakfast, but changed our minds after arrival and there were no problems - wonderfully flexible hosts. TV with DStv, nice electric blankets on every bed, warm fireplace with wood - fantastic place. Very happy.
The house is well equipped for a larger group, but even if individual rooms are booked it is just as comfortable. We were caught off guard with water pipes that froze and so we didn't have water the next morning, but the staff were very helpful in helping us where they could. About enough warm blankets etc. Thank you for a nice evening.

The place was clean and tidy. Great stay and appreciated tranquility. Braai grids may be replaced and braai tongs could work. Will sleep here again when I visit Sutherland.
The accommodation is average, but I should add that it's good value for money.
There was a double booking and we were informed just before we arrived. Was moved to a place that was not up to standard at all.
From our arrival to our departure, we were particularly pleasantly surprised by the owner's friendliness and hospitality. The sleeping and washing facilities were of very good quality. The breakfast was more pleasant than expected. It was safe and the parking good and secure. Will use them again if we visit Sutherland again. Would highly recommend them.

This typical Sutherland cottage is located right next to the NP van Wyk Louw house and is walking distance from the historic old church.
We had to wait a long time to receive our room key, didn't realize that Ms. Jordaan was sending someone from far away with it. If she had communicated the situation to us, we would have gone to town first.
Clean, neat, good braai and staff are excellent. Our water pipes were just frozen as a result of snowy weather but unfroze again at 10:00. Had a nice breakfast too.
If you are looking for a neat, cute plain house, then this guest house is the place to go. Close to almost everything and very friendly staff.

We were in Sutherland to do some star-gazing at SALT. The guesthouse has the ideal location and has friendly staff. We appreciated the breakfast as well.

After we initially had to phone to gain access to the guesthouse, we were shown to a lovely and neat room. Bertie provided all the necessary information for us to go and see the telescopes the next day as well as some eateries in town. No TV was available and you could just relax without interruption from the outside world. The breakfast that was served each morning was top notch. A clean and comfortable bed as well as hot water in the bathroom is the only things you need to make you feel human again.
Very friendly people, we also visit The White House Inn for supper and the hostess informed us about the other restaurants and what they serve.

Frustrating about lack of crockery and cutlery.
Dirty site. Dirty barbecue and courtyard. Linen washed out and thin. Two plate duster didn't work! Will not stay there again nor recommend to friends.

We were moved to Alpha B&B. This guesthouse is truly fantastic. There were 2 bedrooms with a bathroom each. All the necessary facilities including DStv, braai facilities and everything you expect from a self-catering guesthouse is there. The place was neat.
No DStv and the shower water was cold!
The service from the staff was very friendly and we really enjoyed them. Unfortunately I wasn't happy with the room they gave us. It didn't feel clean and was dark and cramped. The linen was old and worn, and I don't recommend the colour brown for decor and linen. We were in the self-catering unit and if I have to recommend them it would be for the delicious affordable breakfast and only as a B&B. What I was able to see about the other rooms looked better. And the fan in our room was out of order. Thanks again for the good service and the tasty breakfast.

Had a great night at Sutherland Guest House. Simple old house that is very neat with everything you need. Definitely value for money and the breakfast @ R30 per person is truly worth it.
It is really inconvenient if the water pipes freeze in the winter and one cannot shower and wash in the morning. A different system in the bathrooms will work more functionally than the electric geyser in the roof.
We were kindly received by Esther. The place clean and tidy. Just think the inside could be adjusted a bit with today's time. Will stay there again. Perhaps it should just be mentioned when booking that no shops are open after 05:00 and fuel is only available from 11:30 on a Sunday.
Guest house was nice and big and the breakfast was delicious thank you.
Upon our arrival the lady was there to give us the key. After we calmed down, the day was really nice, even though the village was already packed away for the evening. We grilled some meat and the next day's breakfast was very well prepared and of good quality. Would definitely recommend the place.

The room allocated to me was extremely cramped and had no privacy, ba There were rooms that were better but they were already occupied. It would appear that the owners are only out to make money without considering the comfort of guests at all. I would not recommend anyone to consider this guest house.
It is clean and tidy accommodation. Ester was helpful where needed. The information file about the activities in the area was of great value, especially if you are coming over a weekend and don't know where all the attractions are. We had a great time.
