37 guests' feedbackIt was such a beautiful and breathtaking place to have peace of mind.
We had a wonderful stay - the house was perfectly clean and all the facilities were in 100% working order. The farm is well located and the silence is perfect to get away from the cities' noise.
It was exactly what we were looking for. Isolation, tranquility and not a person in sight. The hostess is very helpful and friendly.
Cottage beautiful and remote with a stunning sunset. Stars amazing at night and lovely walks done.
For a long weekend break to find yourself again is the perfect place.
This is the best accommodation I could possibly choose. I'm always looking for secluded spots, and this was so perfect. People in general, that includes me, have become so used to luxury and comfort, that we forget what we can do without. The cottage is fantastically furnished with a solar geyser and collected rainwater and the farm is ideal for anyone who enjoys nature, wants to walk, mountain bike, or just enjoy the view. Thanks to Alex and Sean, we will definitely be visiting again!
Perfect for nature lovers. Nice hiking trails and forest experience. The cottage is well furnished.
Syringa Sands Mountain Cottage is perfect for someone looking for privacy away from the fast paced city life. Everything is very basic and very nice. Cell phone signal is not available most of the time. You do need a 4x4 to get to the Syringa Sands Mountain Cottage. Sean and Alex are both very friendly and helpful.
The road to get to the cottage can only be done with a 4x4 with good clearance. The cottage is neat and clean and has all that you need. Spectacular views. The tin roof crackles in the heat, which can wake you if you're not used to it.
Had a wonderful 4 nights. Will definitely be back. Thank you for making it so special.
Would not change anything, really a relaxing stay.
It was a fantastic experience with the beautiful scenery. Tranquility that speaks to one's soul.
This was our second stay and we will be back for sure. You do need a high clearance vehicle to reach the cottage and 4x4 will be advised. The cottage is self sufficient with a solar powered fridge-freezer and hot water shower. Spotless clean and super comfortable bed. Alex and Sean are great hosts.
The cottage is perfect: simple, tasteful design; wonderful views; perfect peace. We did the two hikes and saw lots of game - we couldn't have wished for more.
Private, comfortable and quiet. Will definitely come back again.
Good location with hiking trails in the mountain. Comfortable house, clean and tidy. Very nice view high up the mountain.
The unit is very comfortable, tidy and well equipped. The location high in the mountain is really special. Beautiful view of the Waterberg, with the most incredible sunsets. It runs on solar power and the water is supplied by a rainwater system. Really green! If you're looking for tranquility in nature, you can't do better. The game farm has many animals and a variety of eco-zones, each of which contributes its own special experience. You can have a nice walk or just sit and enjoy the view. The roads are stony in the mountain section, but still drivable with the right vehicle.
We went for a hike, the scenery is breathtaking. Sean and Alex were great hosts, I highly recommend it for any couple! The cottage was clean, the bed was comfortable, we felt totally safe and at ease in our environment. We went for a drive with our hosts which was very interesting, Alex and Sean know their animals which are very well looked after. The hike was well marked give the lush growth, it was easy enough to locate the white dots if we veered off. The weekend was exactly what we both needed.
The long dirt road (if there are people who are not birders) is worth every meter. Location of the cottage is superb, trails are wonderful, game is invigorating to watch. Staying in an off the grid dwelling brought one back to "What Is actually essential" in one's life and was very easy to adapt to. Sean and Alex were super hosts.
Friendly and hospitable reception. Made a lot of effort to make us feel at home. The mountain house was extremely well located and very tidy. Good hiking trails with wildlife to see. Can highly recommend the place.
The place forces you to rest. The clean air and nature around you, calms your heart. It gives you another chance for the busy life. The eco-accommodation is fantastic. There is signal. Not great, but good enough for emergencies. It's cold in the evenings, but the feather duvet warms you up quickly. The friendly hostess makes you feel so at home. The 5 km long walking trail to a beacon on the mountain's view is breathtaking. You do need a 4x4 vehicle to get to the mountain cottage. Will definitely go back. Thanks for the treat.
The view is amazing. Place was very clean. It is rustic, make no mistake but you have everything you need. The view though, and honestly the spot has a very calm atmosphere. You are very isolated.
We booked the Mountain Cottage, and it really is a wonderful place to experience the tranquility of nature. The place is clean and tidy, fully equipped and you are completely on your own on the mountain. I can fully recommend the place to anyone who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Mountain cottage. Serenity, tranquillity, diversified - you will not be left untouched. One of those places in our beautiful country that leaves you with a lack of words, emotions you didn’t even know you had. You will become aware of the the materiality of this world. Photos cannot show the experience, you need to experience it yourself to understand how amazing it is.
Mountain Cottage is the perfect getaway for absolute silence and rest in nature. Well equipped, neat and clean with a view that will take your breath away.
Clean and comfortable. Friendly host. Fantastic view. Nice hiking trails that are well signposted. Vehicle with high ground clearance is recommended.
We were completely overwhelmed by the hospitality of Alex. She quickly made us feel at home. The accommodation is 100% eco friendly. Nothing was lacking. The silence was overwhelming. Just what we wanted. Will definitely stay there again.
Both Sean and Alex are most hospitable hosts and made us feel very comfortable. The attention to detail in the cottage is excellent. The provision of a USB port meant we could stay in WhatsApp communication with friends and family and make them jealous with morning and evening views over the Waterberg. There are written directions (which in places we found a little ambiguous) on how to get from the cottage to the main gate - a map in addition to the written directions would be a help.
The silence was incredible, the view very beautiful.
The venue is located in a very exclusive part of the farm where privacy is guaranteed! The setting in nature with walking trails, and if you dare, mountain biking, is food for the soul. We were warmly welcomed and lead to the cottage, it was an experience beyond expectation and enjoyed in full!
Syringa Sands Mountain Cottage was an incredible experience. We were fortunate enough to experience the most incredible thunderstorms that you can literally see building from a 360 degree approach. The silence and peace is exactly what you need to recharge your batteries and being "off the grid" for a few days really relaxes you. Best of all were the fireflies in the evening! We will definitely go again!
Syringa Sands Mountain Cottage will take your breath away. Totally secluded and completely self-sufficient. Very simple, yet luxurious. The view is something to experience. The hiking trails will keep you busy for a long time. Be aware that you will have to drive a long stretch of dirt road - the last section of Bakkers Pass is not the most comfortable ride. But with a 4x4, it's easy. I highly recommend Syringa Sands!
It is completely "off the grid", no noise, no people no nothing. The place is cute and very clean. The fact that these places are totally eco-friendly was a bonus for those who appreciate it. The most beautiful view all around. Rest for the soul. We will visit again.
What a beautiful place. We felt like we were the only two people on the planet. The mountain cottage really is the most perfect place to get away from it all - a beautifully designed little cab surrounded by incredible scenery, gorgeous bush and under the densest canopy of stars we've experiences in quite a while. The cottage may be "off the grid" but we had everything we needed, with the addition of some lovely extra touches. Couldn't have asked for more.
Syringa Sands Mountain Cottage is a place for people looking for silence and seclusion. If you want to get away from everything and everyone and experience the value of simplicity again then this is the place for you. The 50 km dirt road is not ideal for sedan cars, but it is part of the experience.
Close to nature and the most beautiful sunset. Best place to charge your batteries. Lovely hiking routes. The house has a great location. Will definitely go again.
We would like to suggest some items in the kitchen, namely a casserole, iron cookware for the open fire, hot water was a minor problem, washing dishes and to shower at the same time.
