Very nice place, quiet in nature, exactly what we were looking for, we will definitely see you again for a follow-up visit. Very friendly reception on arrival and helpfulness from host.
Quiet and safe. Chalets are very neat and comfortable. Can definitely recommend the lodge to any nature lovers young and old. We were at the lodge with boys 17 & 15 & who really enjoyed getting out of the city. Lovely pool area that everyone can enjoy. Chalets are in the bushveld, easily accessible with paved paths up a higher hill with a beautiful view and goats passing by everywhere. The chalets are very clean and neatly equipped with everything you need. Wonderful hospitality. Can definitely recommend the lodge.
It was a lovely weekend. The 3 teenagers kept themselves busy with potty play and swimming. The lion feed and the game drive were a bonus and we really enjoyed it. For someone who likes to cook, the kitchen equipment was limited, but we could do what we wanted.
My only problem was that we had to require service on things that were part of the package. For instance, they didn't want to clean the pool and also had to ask for a game drive.
We stayed very calm. Unfortunately it rained quite a bit that night and the power was largely out (I realize that this is not under the control of the lodge). At least we could boil water on a gas bottle. We slept comfortably, but it would have been nice if (with the rain) one could sit more comfortably inside the house (the seating inside the house is limited). Having said that, I realize that the accommodation is probably aimed more at larger groups of people who then all hang out together in the lapa.
The rooms were clean when we arrived. The people were friendly. The game drives were very nice.
It was clean, tidy and everything was in order.
A piece of heaven on earth! Humble houses hidden among the hills, tranquility without any rush, incredible sunset game drive and the privilege of seeing the most beautiful animals. How did we overlook the piece and just always drive by? We could switch off at night under the stars, without technology, next to a barbecue. Aunt Erika and Uncle Theuns are the most humble hosts, and immediately make you feel welcome and at home. Pack a weekend cooler and go hide in the middle of nowhere. On Saturdays you can feed animals and see the most beautiful lions (Wow! Wow! Wow!) What an incredible experience! On the game drive we could see an incredible variety of other animal species, goats and beautiful birds - the most beautiful were the beautiful rhinos. Kevin was our driver and stopped specially if we wanted to capture something on camera. Do yourself a favor and visit the precious place! No frills, just country hospitality and beautiful scenery.
Can recommend Tarentaalrand to anyone. Safe, quiet, fun.
Our stay was very pleasant. We were the only people on the farm. The surroundings are incredibly beautiful and it was fantastically peaceful. Have a great family time!
Do yourself a favour and go here.
The place is very relaxing. The freedom you have to go and walk on the game farm and see the animals per foot is great
I will definitely recommend the lodge to my friends, family and acquaintances. Had a great time and fed the lions and game drive was top notch.
Reception was what one would have expect from such a beautiful safari lodge. Chalets and braai area are perfectly situated. The view was spectacular. Will surely visit them again.
Unity is not really 100% clean. Owners may put TV in unit. Farm is beautiful but we were not warned that there is dangerous wildlife like buffalo on the farm.
Absolutely worth it. Theuns and Erika are the perfect hosts and the place is breathtaking.
Nice quiet and peaceful farm atmosphere with lots of animals to see and lions. Very comfortable houses.
Very nice wildlife seen, at the water hole and also on the 3 km farm road where you drive into the farm. Theuns put the TV on the rugby channel especially for us on Saturday afternoon so we could watch. The chalets are very cute, make you feel right at home with a nice farm atmosphere. Children had fun swimming at the pool which is right in front of our chalet's front door, with a very nice forest view. It was great, we are definitely going to visit here again when we have another open weekend. We missed the wildlife viewing drive as time was limited. Will definitely do it next time we go again. There were also cages with game and other tropical birds in them, peacocks walking around etc. Well done Theuns and Erika! It was great!
Pool was green so we couldn't swim while it was very hot. The zoo and the area around the zoo were very dirty and unkempt. The 6-sleeper unit we stayed in (no. 3) is not really suitable for 4 adults and 2 children, maybe 2 adults and more children. Apart from this we were welcomed and the environment was very quiet and peaceful during the night, which we really appreciated. Thank you.
Erika and her husband are both very friendly people, we had a nice visit and barbecue, the game drive and lions were a big plus that was on the house, because we stayed longer than 2 nights. Nice environment and quiet.
The location of the lodge is perfect for a peaceful and quiet break from the city and to see the magnificence of the Milky Way again. The variety of wildlife seen during the safari drive was more than we expected. The staff was very friendly and made us feel at home. The highlight was standing by the lion cages and listening to them all roar at the same time.
