Good and friendly reception. The room is luxurious with the most beautiful view. The meal was of gourmet quality. The atmosphere in the hotel was hospitable. The staff were all very helpful.
We were traveling to look for snow in the Eastern Cape highlands and Tenahead seemed like the place where we would be able to see the snow best. We were a day too early for the snow at Tenahead, but the accommodation, service and food were top notch. A true 5 star experience.
This place did not disappoint! it is absolutely stunning! It's remote and quiet, the scenery is breathtaking! You also definitely can't only stay one night, because the last 90 km is along a dirt road and is very slow going and quite rugged (it took us 2h45min and we damaged two tires. We do have low profile tires though!). Also, while the hotel is beautiful, it could do with a little refresh (the furniture was a little worn and there were cables running to our television joined with green electrical tape just lying out in the open - not quite what you'd expect at a 5-star establishment. Other than that - we would definitely return!

Wonderful host and hostess. Although the food was tasty and beautifully plated, it was quite basic. I can have that at home. For the price we paid to stay there, we expected a better dinner.

The view from our room, towards the little stream is absolutely beautiful. The food is 5 star. I have no idea how they are able to get fresh product considering the distance to the nearest town.
Incredible, unspoiled surroundings where one is spoiled with 5-course meal. During dinner, the warm blankets were put on in the room and the fireplace lit. Definitely recommend for any traveler. We visited Tenahead, having traveled there on our bikes.

We were the only guests in the lodge, but the weather was too unpleasant to spend time outside. However, the rooms are wonderfully equipped and we lit the fireplace and enjoyed the beautiful views. 5 star service with the meals!
It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The most peaceful, beautiful place.
Getting to Tenahead is quite difficult but absolutely worth it. The road is really rough. Chef Heinrich's food was absolutely top notch. The staff went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. We will recommend Tenahead to all our friends.

Unbelievable experience! Got engaged on 13 June in the snow. The road to the lodge challenging but not insurmountable, a must for anyone in search of a slice of paradise!
One needs time to be able to enjoy all the activities that Tenahead has to offer. Wouldn't mind being stuck here in the winter!
Out of the ordinary and very beautiful. The dinner offered at the Lodge started really well, but mains and the dessert weren't great. Overall though, this didn't detract from the experience. However, I wouldn't agree with the statement that it's a 5 star meal.

Most beautiful beautiful location ever. The view takes your breath away. The rooms are stylish and very comfortable. Unfortunately the service was very poor, definitely not 5 star. But the food ruined our experience of Tenahead, it tasted like the chef was completely untrained, inexperienced and without a palette. It was the worst food, 5 course dinner and breakfast, we have ever had to pay for. Big disappointment.
The road to Tenahead Mountain Lodge is not up to standard; but it has nothing to do with the lodge now.
