The stay was fine the issue we had was paying for the jacuzzi which is something that should be included in the amount we paid for accommodation as its part of something to use in the house like the pool but either than that everything was perfect we enjoyed our stay.

Quiet, a place where you can breathe, but also enjoy joyful visits with family and friends!

"The house is in urgent need of attention. The neighbors disturbed our rest and drove the wildlife away with their quad bikes and riding up and down the long weekend. The house was not clean on arrival, and one gets the impression of a "shiny upstairs and stinky downstairs" approach. There are two other residences (one permanent and one weekend) very close to the farmhouse that were not originally mentioned."

What should have been a week-long bushveld getaway on a game farm turned into a disappointing stay halfway through. It was clearly once a lovely farmhouse but unfortunately has somewhat fallen into disrepair and is disappointing for the money we paid. The roof needs repairs and some of the ceilings have ugly water stains. The master bedroom ceiling has water damage and is pulling open above the shower and the ceiling paint is peeling above the bed. Kitchen and wardrobes have missing glass/wooden panels and some of the wardrobe drawers are broken. The house's wiring is messy in places and unsightly disconnected wiring hangs from the ceiling in places. We had to scrub some of the kitchen equipment before use, e.g. dirty glasses and bowls, wet plates, dishes with old burnt paste inside. On arrival we had to scrub the fridge and shelves with Jik and a toothbrush and wipe down with lemon juice to get rid of the rotten meat smell and packed meat soup. We had to do without the fridge shelves because they don't fit properly and fall out. Luckily there was the 'soft drink fridge' outside at the boma. We donated a bottle of Jik and dish soap. There were gecko (rat?) urine & dung stains behind the fridge and somewhere in the hallway which left the kitchen and bedrooms extremely smelly*. [*Also mentioned in a previous review!] The tub and shower in the master bedroom also had stains that were never cleaned during our 6-night stay. We treated the spots ourselves with Jik to get rid of the smell. The other bathroom's shower was clogged with hair and draining poorly. We had to share a remote control ('remote') for the main gate with the neighbors and the builders, and we had to chip at times to locate it to receive guests. The big attraction of the house was the woodland silence and we looked forward above all to the antelopes that move in front and sometimes through the garden. The neighboring house ('cottage' 20m in front of the farmhouse on the erf) entertained guests over the long weekend, in itself not a problem. Unfortunately, they spent almost the whole weekend racing around the field around and in front of 'our' house with quadbikes and a mini dune buggy for the children. The weekend neighbors on the other side (where they build all the time) walked into 'our' garden out of the blue one night to get firewood from 'our' boma. Our rest was therefore repeatedly disturbed by strangers who drove or walked through the field right in front of 'our' house and we enjoyed no real privacy. We were very grateful to uncle Koos who dropped in every day and lit the gas stove, Hannes who cleaned the fallow every day & stacked new braai wood and prepared the hot tub for us, and Julia who did the dishes every other day washed and made beds (and was paid for).

This location is magnificent and lovely. The staff is really kind and accommodating and we had a lovely weekend on the farm. The setting, the animals, and the Jacuzzi were all amazing.

I can recommend Thaba Tholo to anyone. It is delicious and nicely equipped with the wild animals that just come into the camp. This is the closest I have ever been to a golden wildebeest. It's just perfect. Feel free to make a reservation, you won't regret it.

It was a wonderful weekend and we had a great time in nature amongst all the animals. The accommodation is fantastic and the people incredibly friendly and helpful.

Everything was wonderful. We specifically booked here because of the jacuzzi for our rugby boys and then it did nit work. So that was pretty bad, but otherwise it was lovely.

It was really quiet and private. Everything was nicely clean and in place. Koos and Johannes were always helpful. Koos goes to great lengths to tell about the farm and wildlife. One bathroom and kitchen can be upgraded a bit. Other than that everything was 100% correct.

Whenever I make a booking at any of the online booking sites I first check the reviews. There were some negative reviews, however the majority of reviews where positive. We where welcomed by Koos, the Farm Manager and he made us feel at home from the time we step out of our car until we left the Sunday. All the staff that we interacted with were very friendly. We were accommodated in the main house. All the room were clean, bedding was clean, braai area was clean, etc. The main house is old and needs some "TLC" then it would make the breakaway even more remarkable. Koos explained that we can do our own game drives. Everything in the house was in working order. Will we go back? The answer is Yes. Thank you for a great weekend.

Lovely area with beautiful surroundings. Oom Koos is a great help. House is good but needs attention, especially the first bathroom and kitchen. The kitchen is not a great attribute at all. Dirty utensils, dirty pots, cupboards inside dirty where your groceries must go. Cupboards in rooms has articles stuffed in there. Bedding didn't smell fresh either. The only thing that was not nice is the overall cleanliness.

I wouldn’t pick this place for another visit I must say. No one told us the Jacuzzi was not working, we were promised a game drive, nothing of te sort happened. We could’ve stayed at our houses had we known the type of stay we were heading to. Very disappointed!

Website photos very misleading. Accommodation much older and low maintenance. If 10 people stay there on one night, the price may be justified. At R2500 per night, much more modern and luxurious accommodation can be obtained in the area. No hot water in apartments. 10 km dirt road with limited accessibility. I would recommend the place for hunters and also the friendliness and helpfulness of Lientjie, Joseph and Koos, but not at the price of R2500 per night.

We were a group of friends on a men's weekend away and everyone was very satisfied with the facilities: swimming pool, Jacuzzi and 2 lapas. Really good value for money with very friendly reception and service. Would definitely stop here again! The road on the way there is less than ideal, but with a bakkie or a SUV, it isn't a problem. It also isn't a problem with a normal car, other than the vehicle shaking a bit. I would give everything a 5 star grading taking the price into consideration. Thanks for a great weekend!

What a lovely, quite and peaceful place, the kitchen needs a proper spring clean. All crockery, utensils, glass wear, pots and pans dirty and sticky. Maybe a good spring clean through in out the main house (bathrooms), will do the world of good. Koos, what a wonderful, friendly host, always busy in and around the premises, took us for a drive and showed us the other camps and game. Other than that, we had an enjoyable stay even Chaka the friendly dog was friendly. Many thanks.
