Yes, very nice, they can look into maybe installing aircons in the rooms. It gets pretty hot.
Management was very helpful and obliging, but there was no fridge in the rooms for consumables. I had to request new shower gel as the cleaners did not replenish it.
A lovely place and excellent stopover for either lunch or a sleepover on your way to KZN. There is a lovely play area for kids and also very special animals to view. The accommodation is very modern and beautiful! The views awakening you in the mornings are just spectacular.

Although a very unique destination, in the most unlikely of areas, the accommodation offers excellent comfort with a lovely restaurant, petrol station, brewery and gift shop, with modern, unique and well decorated and established accommodation, with amazing predators / animals near every room, we were disappointed in the lack of urgency when we tried to book safari drives / guided tours before our arrival. The two men we encountered were accommodating and ready to help and had some interaction with our arrival and departure, but the staff at the accommodation, as well as the restaurant and curio shop, lacked the same sentiment and level of professionalism if they shared not.
We were moved 3 times to another chalet. One had no water and the other only cold water. Linen had holes in it. It was not a pleasant stay. It was not a pleasant experience. After 9 hours on the road, the least you expect is clean linen and a hot shower. Neither materialized.
Bed could be better. But was okay for one night.
Refrigerator exterior operation. Television outside operation. Bed linen still wet when we checked in. Unit lots of water damage inside and musty smell. There are signs of water damage seeping through and peeling off everywhere. Shower tiles are all falling off the wall. Cupboard doors loose and crooked and outside operation. Staff not aware of fully paid accommodation and had to search and forward proof of payment again. Gardens and common areas dilapidated, flower beds untidy, grass very long. The best part of the stay was the high standard breakfast.
The rooms were so modern and much bigger than they appear in the photos. Because they are a wildlife conservation center, we could spend as much time as we wanted with animals whose enclosures connect to the chalets' grounds. The animals are also very well cared for with large, clean enclosures which are fantastic! We enjoyed it much more than we ever thought we would, considering it was just an overnight stop for us. Will definitely go back to spend more time there!
We were very well received & our two dogs were welcome. Beautiful, neat and clean. Lovely 5 star bathroom makes it a number one overnight stop on the way to the South Coast.
Units require urgent maintenance. Paint shell on in many places off due to water problems. There are signs that they are recovering some of the other units.

There were 5 rooms booked. Room one has no heater (and no air conditioning either). Room two has coffee capsules but no machine! Room 4's walls are covered with moisture and the paint is peeling terribly and is not really habitable. One of the two single beds has a warm blanket and the other does not. Room 8 was fine and room 9 had no bath towels. It was requested that the credit be converted into meal vouchers at the Spur on the premises. It was not done. Dinner at Spur was extremely poor. On arrival we were told we couldn't order anything with milk, it was done. We then suggest buying milk from the shop in the same building. After permission from the manager we were "allowed" to buy our own milk and supply it to them so we could enjoy hot drinks with milk even though we were charged full price for the coffee with milk and milk shakes that were ordered. That sums up the whole experience, very disappointing and cannot be recommended at all!
I will visit Thanda Tau again for sure! We really enjoyed it. The rhinoceros and little lions were something special! Their customer service was 10/10, everyone was friendly and happy to help. Would recommend this place to everyone!

Attention to detail required though - edging of lawns not done, damp in rooms to be urgently addressed and also dying frogs in ponds in front of management offices not good. I made suggestions to management regarding the pond issue - the rest requires tighter management control. Also as a final comment - the cages for Jaguar and Jackal requires in my mind more focus on making it more enjoyable to be in. For the rest - very good.
We stopped at Thanda Tau on our way to KZN and what a find! The chalets are stunning and have everything you need. Enjoyed some of the brewery's beer before dinner, and decided it was our new overnight spot. We hope to be able to eat right there in the pub next time, I hear they might start serving food. Was woken up by birds early the next morning and was already in a holiday mood. Thank you guys!
Great sleep, rooms very luxurious and delicious meals, but one issue, the hot water is useless. We couldn't bath or shower because the water is only lukewarm and not hot. Would have been fine in summer but not during the Free State winter. We complained at reception and they admitted that there was a problem and that the other guests also complained. Will stay there again.
It's a stunning place, very stylish and neat. We really enjoyed our time there. Thandu Tau also offers the opportunity to literally enjoyed your morning coffee within 40 m from the cheetahs, lions and rhinos! We will definitely go there again.
