Wow! Wow! Wow! Everything absolutely excellent. We had a really nice stay. Room has everything you need: air conditioning, electric warm sheet, room cleaned every day, bed linen fresh and lovely. Drinks also with milk, then still water as well as 2 chocolates every day. Hostess excellent and breakfast really so tasty. And then that fantastic food in the evening with a lovely fireplace next to our table. The best food and restaurant in Nieuwoudtville. We will definitely visit there again and someone who is anywhere near Nieuwoudtville, plan your trip so that you can eat there! Thank you so much for spoiling us from start to finish! Wonderful stay, Wessie was great and attended to all our requirements. She went the extra mile for dinner when one of the group had allergies, cooking a special meal for her.

It was truly a pleasant overnight stay. Wessie is a super hostess and her staff is very helpful. Food is top notch and you feel like you can still create. Tasty! Biggest surprise was that the dinner was also included and not just the breakfast, so good value for money. Cute rooms and a rich history make it worth it. Definitely a "see again" and "sleep again" place.
Place is excellently located to see flowers. Hospitality and comfortable facilities as well as a nice plate of food. Staff excellent - nothing is too much trouble for them. We would definitely recommend them.
The room was comfortable although a little small. We would prefer and would recommend a room away from the main road as there was a lot of trucks going past early in the morning. The restaurant and food were very well presented and homely and was included in the price.
Rooms weren't ready when we got there after 2 pm. We were able to order tea and cake whilst we waited. Evening meal to the value of R195 pp was included in the cost of the stay, which we didn't know until we checked in. Food was okay, but service was very slow.

Ons het twee nagte in The Nedersetting deurgebring om na die blomme te kon kyk, maar daar is baie meer om te geniet. Wessie, ons gasvrou, het ons ook gehelp het met 'n reisplan vir die tyd wat ons daar was. My lewensmaat is 'n vegetariër, en hulle het uit hul pad gegaan om in haar behoeftes te voorsien, selfs vir haar 'n spesiale veggie-quiche gebak. Die hele onderneming word goed onderhou en goed bestuur, en die gasvryheid en voedsel voldoen aan die hoogste ware Suid-Afrikaanse standaarde. Ons word sterk aanbeveel, en sou ons The Nedersetting beslis kies as ons die gebiedsaanwins besoek. Dankie Wessie en span.

Very clean, best bobotie I have ever eaten - owner is involved and very friendly. Staff very helpful. Definitely go to the Kokerboom forest and waterfall, it's beautiful nature.
The Settlement was now a random, but excellent choice in light of the fact that we have never booked accommodation on Nieuwoudtville. Fully, modern and immaculately furnished with an 'old world' atmosphere due to surroundings/ old building/s, including the spacious and well equipped restaurant, the food was a feast! As country people we enjoyed the home cooking, especially the scraps, mmmm – the generous portion sizes are a compliment to country hospitality. The staff were indeed top notch - their helpfulness and friendliness must be commended. Cindy and Rosy, we will definitely come again. Not booked there yet? You won't make a mistake. Thanks again for excellent service. We are proud of our world, because we are actually born Loeriesfonteiners who have not visited the area for a long time - windmill servers!

The guesthouse is neat, clean and luxurious! The old-fashioned antique feeling is experienced right through the entire guest house and restaurant but with the backbone of excellent service and hospitality - old-fashioned values with absolute modern luxuries! It was a great place to sleep for one or two nights on our way to the Northern Cape. Just far enough from the Cape to not go mad driving. In general I would say this place is neat, the food is delicious and typical of the Karoo. Great stay.
Would like to recommend someone here, except we will have to mention that the persistent barking of a neighbouring pet is very disturbing and also breaks into a little later sleep in the morning.

We spent the night here on the evening of August 21, 2018. It was delicious and I can definitely recommend it. The rooms are large and very comfortable. The buffet dinner at the Settlement is a must and I haven't eaten so well in a long time. The breakfast was very well prepared with a variety to choose from. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

The accommodation was excellent in every way and exactly what any traveler would expect. The breakfast food package that we received in place of our breakfast was top notch. We were forced to leave early and could not have breakfast. The staff went out of their way to meet our need. We recommend the accommodation without fear of contradiction!

From arrival, eating, sleeping to leaving everything was perfect! Wessie, you are amazing at what you do! We arrived at the end of a bitterly busy long day in Nieuwoudville and we were received with a special kindness that is rarely found after such a day. Dinner was a buffet feast that we will be drooling over for years to come. We slept nice and warm. The bedding is of good quality. The shower was hot with good pressure. And because we had to scramble early, we received the cutest food parcel in the name of breakfast, which kept us busy for a full 790 km. The Settlement will see me again for sure!

Absolutely non-negotiable! If you're ever in the Nieuwoudtville area, this is the place to stay the night or just a quick stop for a fantastic meal or drink. Wessie, Hester and their team are the most wonderful, hospitable people we have come across in a very long time. The rooms are incredibly beautiful and tasteful, and there is absolutely nothing missing. We went home in "Die Kluis". This building, which serves as a guest house, has a most interesting history. The wine with which our bar fridge was filled every day was an extra bonus! After a long day of flower viewing we were exhausted and starving, and although we were almost two hours early for dinner, Wessie took our order and our food was ready within half an hour! Wink-wink, the lamb platter on their menu is highly recommended, not to mention the real country food buffet served in the evening! Thanks to Wessie's good knowledge of the area, we visited all the most beautiful and interesting places in and around Nieuwoudtville. And don't forget to pop into the little shop adjacent to the restaurant - the most delicious home-baked and handmade items, paintings etc. can be purchased here - even cookies for your 4-legged child! This is undoubtedly one of the places that one simply has to visit only once in their life!

We found the supper to be of good value with a lot of meat. The TV did not have sport channels.
My wife and I were comfortable but unfortunately our friend (a lady) had to stay in the Rooidak Huis which is across the road from where we were staying. We weren't informed of where this was when we booked. She was put in a small back room with a bathroom outside her room. In the room there wasn't space for a bedside table or a bedside light. The bed was against a stone wall, which was very cold. We were anxious for her security there, as when she went to bed she was the only one in the house.
Restaurant outstanding. Accommodation below par. Acknowledging Nieuwoudtville's short (6 weeks max) flower season, the Rooidakhuis rates are over the top. Specifically, rooms 2 and 3 of Die Rooidakhuis were charged at the same rate, which is outrageous! Good mattresses, heating and clean - but room 3 @ R1,200.00 for two single beds is ridiculous. No WiFi.
Very hospitable and friendly people. Meals were very well taken care of with a lovely log fire against the cold and electric blankets on the bed when it got cold after lovely rain through the night.

Homely atmosphere.
Die Kluis is comfortable, but quite dark. The restaurant is pleasant and the food is excellent.
The accommodation had everything we needed. Really! What was disappointing though was that the photos of the place (that's the restaurant and the accommodation next to the restaurant) wasn't of the place we stayed at. Our Lucky 7 is part of an old boarding school and had no nice view or special location. Maybe we had just been spoiled by the fantastic location of our previous accommodation that had a view of the ocean! We are not complaining. It's just that the advertisement of Lucky 7 is misleading and led to initial disappointment. Oh yes, and the braai facilities weren't cheerful.
