45 guests' feedbackHad a great time. The cottage has everything one needs. The milk in the fridge and the bun were a welcome surprise! The view from the porch is picture perfect with August's wheat green and canola yellow. The dogs could also stretch their legs on the farm roads.

Beautiful scenic landscapes with everything you need to unwind. There are animals on the farm which you can visit if you choose. Clean, quiet, safe and neat place where you can braai regardless of the weather. Communication was excellent throughout the stay and the host really goes the extra mile to make your stay perfect. We will definitely be visiting again.

Upon arrival, the owner welcomed us with delicious sandwiches. Friendly people, farm atmosphere, good dirt roads and nice places to visit. Will go again.
A peaceful experience away from city life, outstanding hospitality, a lovely huge fireplace to braai, with a beautiful sunset to witness.

What a peaceful long weekend! We were made to feel so welcome and were greeted with a freshly baked sourdough bun. Delicious! The hostess went out of her way to make sure we were settled, fed and comfortable. Her husband came to help us with a fire when we forgot to buy flashlights. Oops! The highlight for the children was giving the lambs a bottle and they could feed the lambs as many times as they wanted at feeding time. The animals were such a delight! The children flattened the farm. The hostess even offered us another night for free, where do people still do that these days. Unfortunately we had to go back home. Now that was a very nice farm experience! We will definitely visit again! Thank you very much.
Accommodation did not meet our needs and standard, the furniture and electrical appliances are very old. The linen and towels are shabby. There was no soap at the sink, nor a towel. The previous visitors dog poo was not picked up and we had to pick it up ourselves, the dirty laundry was just left in the unit by the door, which is not a nice experience. Don't think you can stay up late, it's a working farm and on Saturday morning, before 5 o'clock in the morning, the plowing and tractors woke us up. The hostess was friendly and treated us to a freshly baked bun.
A very pleasant farm stay. The cottage is completely standalone and equipped with all the basic essentials. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and feeding the lambs. We felt comfortable and safe during our time here and would highly recommend it.

It is very quiet there, you only hear the bleating of the sheep and the sounds of nature. The house is super clean and very beautiful and everything you need is there. The people are very friendly there. Will definitely go again.
The farm was located close enough to N2 and finding it was easy. Enjoyed the peace and quiet. The accommodation was just large enough for our needs - two persons. Would visit again.
We had such a wonderful stay. Starting the morning with a cup of coffee surrounded by those green, rolling hills with the farm sounds around us was heavenly. Children had so much space to roam, cycling and playing with the sheep and the friendly dog. Driving next door to observe the kudus, springbok and zebra was also a real treat.
The quiet and tranquility of farm life was a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the city. The hospitality we received was excellent. Would really recommend the getaway.
The Aloe Cottage is a very nice, clean and tidy house where you can relax. It's a good base to explore the rest of the area. You have an option of an indoor braai and an outdoor braai and the living area, porch and kitchen are well equipped so that you can have a good time there. The owners were very friendly and went out of their way to make us feel at home.
We had a great time on the farm! Gawie's effort with the boys was a big treat! From tractor driving to taking out eggs and milking Hans's lambs. If it rains there are fun things to do in town with the children. Fairy sanctuary, Bee things, Wild bramble farm, etc. The bag full of water flowers that Gawe and Marthie gave us from their pond was the cherry on the cake! You will definitely see us again!

The cottage was not quite ready when we arrived after a long, cold and wet cycle ride, so our hosts treated us to a few glasses of good red wine and got a roaring fire going. All in all a great place to overnight or spend a few days exploring. In the heart of a working wheat and sheep farm.
We had a great stay but unfortunately the advertised things to do such as fetching chicken eggs or milking cows are not available.
In all the years we have holidayed across the country, Aloe Cottage is the most memorable experience. Gawie and Marthie and their son Dirk's hospitality and warmth make you feel like you are family. Nothing is too much trouble for them, and they just always want to do more. The cottage is beautiful and fully equipped and the tranquility of the farm is soul food, with spring goats grazing just outside the porch. The lapa and game are also an experience on their own, and we look forward to one day staying in the oxcart or in the old house which is currently being restored. Many, many thanks for the best few days of our entire holiday, Cloeteskraal's people.
Aloe Cottage is ideal for people who just want to get away and relax, breathe clean air and experience farm life. The springboks are a daily sight just like that from the stoep. The owners give new meaning to the word hospitality. The accommodation is close enough for day visitors to De Hoop to see whales. We can highly recommend Aloe Cottage!
We had a wonderful time at the Aloe Cottage. It is perfect for a family with small children who just want to get away from everything that is busy and spend some time in nature. Our 2 year old boy enjoyed it so much and didn't want to sit still for a minute. There are spring goats right in front of one's house and some sheep and lambs that are very tame. It's really great to experience a bit of farm life. In the afternoon, you can fetch fresh milk and get your own eggs - any child's dream. There is a very nice barbecue area outside and the house is fully equipped with everything you need. Marthie and the farm staff were very hospitable. We will definitely be back again.

Conveniently close to De Hoop Nature Reserve by the coast, also Marloth Reserve with beautiful proteas and nature in Swellendam. Was wonderful to get so close to nature.
Except that we got lost because of wrong directions we had a great stay and the owners are wonderful people. I would advise anyone to stay there.

Where else can you take your bottle and go get milk and take out your eggs for breakfast in the morning? It was so peaceful and there is a lot of space to walk. Also lots of birds to watch. The place is nicely furnished and very clean and tidy and the hostess very friendly. It was so much fun for us, we will definitely go again.
Great value for money as well as situated in a beautiful setting on a dairy farm. Well situated to get to De Hoop Nature reserve. Loved seeing the cows coming home to be milked, free milk, eggs and wood supplied by our hosts. Having sundowners with cats and dogs and sunrises with the springboks. Will be back if in the area and recommend to friends and family.
Surrounded by hills and green fields and splendor and animals that call you early - too lovely if you seek silence. My little girl was so excited because she could go get eggs for breakfast herself. We had a great rest and that's just what you need to recharge your batteries. I will definitely go again.
