We loved the house and its location to Kalk Bay and Fish Hoek and very comfortable, however the house needs a deep clean, there were lots of cockroaches and the gas braai was covered in fat and grime.
What a pleasant holiday. Everything was perfect!
Although Baytree is located right on the main road, it is just outside the busiest part of Kalk Bay which can be very noisy, yet close enough to leave your car (there is a garage for 1 vehicle and reasonably safe street parking in front) and go into town to walk Apart from the location, this large house is also very comfortably furnished for a family holiday or a small visit with friends. With the large, open spaces, it is wonderfully cool, but can get cold quite quickly, so take something warm with you. The little fireplace in the corner of the living area would have been nice for us to burn, but unfortunately it was burned by a previous large group to such an extent that its glass broke. When he's ready, next time, let's hang out again! Thanks to Thomas and his team!

This a a stunning location with wonderful views of the bay. All the grace and elegance of an old Kalk Bay home. With this, there are sides of wear and tear and poor maintenance behind the beautifully decorated veneer. Upstairs windows do not open and close, resulting in having to leave the window cracked open on a cool night as the handle was found broken off. While the curtains have blackout lining, the street light is right outside the window and as the curtains are on tabs, the light radiates into the room at night above the tabs. Ear plugs for traffic sounds and a sleep mask recommended for light sleepers. There is the smell and evidence of damp in some of the rooms. Unfortunately the extra blanket provided for warmth in the main front room was not useable as it was filthy. Bedding was stained.
We had a lovely weekend. The house is very well equipped, and was neat and clean. The location is ideal and within walking distance of the shops and restaurants. The only complaint (which doesn't really have anything to do with the house) is that the cars are noisy from early morning in Main Road.
We really enjoyed our weekend at The Beach House. The location was excellent, the view so beautiful, and it's close to many nice places to eat and shops in Kalkbaai. We visited during the lockdown, which means we mostly had to hang out at The Beach House. How grateful we were then for the choice. We couldn't ask for a more beautiful view - we felt pure luxury. It was freezing cold, so we were very grateful for the nice fireplace. Bring enough wood. If we can make any criticism it will only be about the towels. It was just a little small for the bigger bodies. And if it's winter - bring extra blankets and maybe your own pillow if you're full of fiemies. It was a bit flat. Furthermore, the service was very good, and we would definitely recommend the Beach House to everyone. We will definitely be back too!

Although the house itself is stunning and has gorgeous views, the following leaves room for improvement. A lot of windows in the house don’t open. Dishwasher was not in working condition, had grimy and undissolved tablets in it. Glasses and oven dishes was dirty. Some plates and glasses are chipped or cracked. Alarm in top apartment where other visitors were staying kept going off 2/3 times for 2 days and the box for alarm is in the main house so we sat with the noise until sorted. They need to state in the listing that there is only 1 garage per house especially if large amounts of people is staying there. Otherwise it’s a lovely home with stunning views and calming sounds from the ocean. Tidal pool is just across the street and many restaurants so no need for cooking.

We had a fantastic time in the house. The house is big and spacious. View is breathtaking. Is close to all the shops, the sea and Simon's Town.
Just a few things they need to pay attention to: Front window wouldn't close/lock." Chipped" plates and cups as well as dirt. Oven trays not clean, had oil in them. When stove/oven is turned on, it makes a funny sound, not always.
Suggestions - more comfy chairs in the living room. Early morning traffic does wake you. Incredible views over Fish Hoek Bay. Easy walking distance to Kalk Bay and restaurants. Beautiful interior. Strongly recommend this self-catering rental as a wonderful getaway.
We really enjoyed our time at The Beach House. We were a couple of friends from Durbanville and it was so nice to experience Kalkbaai. To just wander around in the shops, galleries, restaurants and the sea. I even swam twice in the tidal pool. Kalkbaai is unique with the railway between the sea and the main road. It just gets very busy and noisy at times with the cars passing in front of the house. The house is lovely, everything we needed. Maybe just better braai facilities for our farm girls!
The house was in a very good condition and clean. It has the necessary equipment and utensils which made our stay so much better.
The Beach House is a fantastic accommodation option right by the sea. Although I expected parking for a second vehicle (due to the amount of guests the house accommodates) was there parking in the street that was quite safe. It is excellent value for money.
Good host, beautiful house.
The house has been redone recently - modern, comfortable, airy and stylish. There is enough room for 2 families with separate rooms for teenagers. Cosy indoor woodburning stove. Wonderfully equipped kitchen. Walking distance from Kalk Bay's many interesting restaurants if you do not feel like cooking.
