Very nice place, it didn't have a shower (only a bath) and given any other day I would have preferred a shower, but I appreciated the bath that day.

The accommodation is really a beautiful and comfortable place with a friendly hostess who quickly makes you feel at home.
The hostess was very friendly and she explained everything nicely. Because it was Sunday, all the restaurants were closed. We had to get takeaway and she gave us the directions. Lovely clean room and the variety of birds in the cages was excellent.

Overnight stay was good, would have preferred a shower; people don't really bath anymore.
There is confusion regarding "self catering." In the photos there is a microwave and fridge which makes one think you can heat something and eat and use the fridge for food etc. However, there is no cutlery. So refrigerator and microwave creates a wrong idea. Then if one is early like 15h00, do you then have to sit in the room on the double bed until you go to sleep? We had to ask if we could sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine. There wasn't a wine glass either.

Well equipped and very tidy.
Safe and comfortable place to stay. Was just a bit inconvenient because the power was off when we got there, but that was out of the owner's control. The lights are indeed connected to solar power and I would recommend that power plugs are also connected to solar power so that guests can at least boil a kettle when they arrive. The service was good and the owner is friendly and helpful.
We were on our way from Cape Town to Pta and stayed here. It was a holiday and no takeaway restaurant was available. Please make sure of meals before going to the guest house. Service was friendly and guest rooms very neat and clean.

Warn older people against the stairs.
We had to ask for crockery and cutlery as none was anywhere in sight. There was no sink to wash dishes or water available where one wold expect it. We had to get water from the bathroom. . There was also a very low step on entry to the bathroom which is a tripping hazard.
The owner is really friendly and helpful. We were there just after 4pm. However, we could not check in and had to waste time for a late one. Not the end of the world, but would have appreciated knowing that ahead of time. Will sleep there again.
Poor - no hostess or person in charge seen on arrival or departure (boy let us in). Beds = old steel beds + old mattress = back pain. Will never use again.

The rooms are neat and comfortable. We were also able to relax at the braai area. The only negative was the parking - we booked 2 rooms but there was only 1 parking available behind the gate.

Owner was not at home when we arrived. Took over 30min to make contact, already considered driving on and looking for other accommodation.
Cleaning lady received me. She was able to give the WiFi password. Would have appreciated 5 liter water bottle to be able to wash up properly. Luckily the toilet flushed the next morning, couldn't shower.

Road from main road to town very poor. Streets untarred, very poor.
On arriving we had to phone the owner and she then arranged for someone to meet us and let us in. The room was pleasant for an overnight stay.

For a single female guest arriving on a Sunday late afternoon, there was nowhere to get anything to eat in Hopetown or at the guesthouse. The website photograph is misleading, showing a beautiful big tree, whereas the actual rooms are far from this in the back yard with the chickens. The car park was muddy.

Hopetown is a beautiful town rich in history and it was pleasant to be able to walk through the streets.
The rooms are neat, clean and comfortable. The pool and garden are a lovely experience. The area is safe and the service was very good.

Nice stay! The pillows were just incredibly hard and tight. But for someone else it would work again. Both times that we stayed there it was incredibly noisy in the area, not owner's fault at all. It's dogs barking all night and so on. So take it into account that it is in a residential area.

Friendly welcome, neat clean rooms. All negative point, we book according to the amenities available. The braai place was used by the owner's children and we could not use it. Guests must be informed when they inquire if facilities are not available.
Gate on my vehicle starts to close. Pin not pushed into the ground, while I looked for the owner to move forward because there was a reasonable height difference, and limited space. Gate moved and it rubbed against my vehicle. Not happy. No. 3's beds done. Both my wife and I had back pain.
We stopped over in Hopetown during our road trip back from Cape Town. Slightly disappointed that there was no shower in the room.
No one was there when we arrived. Everything was old. Furniture etc. Only a bath. Not good for elderly. Everyone uses showers these days.
On arrival we were greeted by the owner's daughter who is very impersonal. The protocol was also not properly followed as far as the regulations were concerned. I then called the owner from the room and asked if we wanted to talk to her personally about the amenities and plates that are not in the rooms, to which she came and reacted half furiously and also because there is no braai that we can use to barbecue, she said it had to be arranged in advance and they could not meet that need. She was very rude and disrespectful towards us as if our color was not good enough, whereupon we canceled the stay and went looking for another place. We only got a third of our money back. I do not recommend that guest house in any way, maybe if your color is right It was quite a humiliation for us. Her actions are totally unacceptable.

I would suggest they look at some small things. Soap in the bathrooms, and a bathroom door on the twin bedroom. My two sons shared the room so it was acceptable but would have given more privacy. The customer service was good and everything was tidy in the rooms.
