68 guests' feedbackBeautiful place, very big with nice areas to hang out. The village is very interesting too!
Enjoyable, cosy, very nice.
Nice house for 2 families.
My stay at The Blue Swallow in Kaapsehoop was delightful. The charming atmosphere and breathtaking views made it a memorable experience. The surrounding nature provided a peaceful escape, with plenty of opportunities for hiking and exploration. My family and I had an amazing time and will definitely be staying here again in future. Overall, I highly recommend The Blue Swallow for anyone looking to unwind and enjoy the beauty of Kaapsehoop.
What a fabulous experience. Will definitely recommend to everyone. The accommodation was great, views from the cottage were spectacular. The town and people were amazingly friendly. I loved the tour to Adam's Callander. Had a tour guide, which made it even more spectacular.
We spent a weekend at Blue Swallow from 11th to 14th October 2024. The house is very well maintained and equipped, and the owners, a friendly and lovely couple, take good care of it. However, having the owners living directly above in a granny flat was not ideal. The houses in Kaapse Hoop are generally close to each other, but this proximity felt a bit too close for comfort. Every movement made by the owners could be heard, and I'm sure they could hear ours as well. Despite this, we loved the views from the veranda and the animals that visited the watering hole at the back of the house. The lack of covered parking was a concern, especially with the approaching summer. I would suggest that the owners consider adjusting the rate for the house when more than 3 people are staying. Unfortunately, the sounds coming from the ceiling constantly disrupted the peace and tranquility throughout the weekend. I wouldn't consider returning unless this changes.
Beautiful location and well appointed guest house. Owners very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, high mould content in the guest house resulted in a week's of sickness recovering from the stay. Insufficient air circulaton (windows closed all day), no fans and high humidity with average air humidity at 60% - creating a health hazard. Rooms not used are also closed and locked keeping the air trapped and making the guest house feel very inhospitabe (rather charge a set rate for hire versus treating it like a boarding house). Thick carpets in the house and bathroom making the mould smell and incidence worse. Very cold on two days and no heaters (typical weather conditions in the area) or indication on whether the fireplace could be used (although there wasn't any wood provided. Guest needed to ask the next day about this). Interruptions from owners and cleaning personnel for two days of my stay with owners needing to clean and tidy and workers on the property and roof. Understood the reasoning (family emergency) but it was still a detractor from rest. The noise from the roof repairs was so loud that guest had to escape for the whole day from the accommmodation. Really unpleasant. Tiny en-suite bathrooms not practical. Noise from owners living in a connected granny flat (actually part of the house) very disturbing - phone calls, conversations etc and odours of cooking. Felt very strange and inappropriate. Maybe not a problem for a short weekend stay, but not for a week's retreat.
A lovely home with everything you need. The large deck is our special place with glorious views! Thank you Lekkaslaap and The Blue Swallow.
The kitchen is well equipped with a gas stove and dishwasher. Good quality linen on the beds.
We enjoyed a lovely, peaceful few days in Kaapschehoop away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Our stay at The Blue Swallow was fantastic. The unit is neat, spacious and furnished with everything needed and more. Truly breathtaking with beautiful views. Some of the best accommodation we have ever booked. Will be back soon for sure.
A lovely, spacious, fantastically equipped house. The view from the porch is beautiful - I could just sit there for days and rest and recharge. The weekend was fun for a tired soul. I definitely recommend it.
It was so nice to just walk and visit all the places to eat and hang out in Kaapschehoop. The beds in the house have electric blankets on them for the cold evenings and a nice fireplace in the living room. The house is definitely set up for power outages because there is a gas stove, bedside lamps that work as if there is no power, enough flashlights that you charge, large barbecue on the porch, excellent WiFi and always hot water. We will definitely make time to relax there again.
Very spacious and value for money. Beautiful view. Town is very safe and beautiful. We will visit there again for sure.
Well located and equipped. Ideal for longer stays and lots to do in the area.
We had the most amazing stay at Blue Swallow. The setting is absolutely stunning, you could not ask for a better view! The house is very spacious and clean and extremely well-equipped. Amazing option for a family holiday or a group of friends.
It was perfect for a group of friends. The house has everything one could need. Was nice and clean and well located at the end of the village. Was lucky to see the wild horses early in the morning.
Peaceful visit in beautiful surroundings. Thank you for a well-equipped home where you really feel at home.
We were 8 friends who participated in the Kaapsehoop marathon. We were pleasantly surprised with the accommodation. Homely, tidy, fully equipped and the price very reasonable for what you get. We are already planning to book it for next year. Not serious but the TV didn't work and on the 2nd day the WiFi was not available. However, this only contributed to us having to talk to each other more.
Characterful house on the back border of the town, with fantastic views. Large living room and well equipped kitchen. Large porch for sundowners. No solar panels, there were automatic battery lights. The house was clean but needs some maintenance. We could not use the master bedroom and slept on a smaller bed. The en-suite shower and toilet were far too small and impractical. WiFi was not working, we could log in but had no connection.
We have had the most amazing stay in the Blue Swallow. The house is so spacious and well equipped and we could spend hours on the deck taking in the breathtaking views. I have already recommended the house to several friends and will definitely stay here again!
We loved the view and wildlife around the house. The house itself is neat and clean.
The view is amazing, the location is great, the rooms are spacious and comfortable and the house is simply great. Everything you need is provided for you and we had a really great stay.
We loved our stay and will definitely be back. The house is huge and had every possible thing that we needed and more. Charmaine was very accommodating. Guests just need to be warned that when there's load shedding, there's no hot water.
Large, comfortable house with several rooms and full kitchen. Wonderful porch with braai facilities. Incredible view over valley and forests with visits from horses, baboons and birds.
Visited Kaapsehoop on our way back from the KNP. The house has the best view in town and looks over the mountains. It is quiet and has a lovely patio. There are walking trails and other adventurous things to do or you can relax on the patio enjoying the view and the peace and serenity.
Blue Swallow is in the most beautiful location with a view of the mountain scenery from the veranda. The house is big with lots of space.
My friends and I had the most stunning time in Kaapsehoop. The Blue Swallow was perfect for us as a group of 7, with each couple and myself having our own rooms and bathrooms plus a lovely balcony with the most peaceful view. The Blue Swallow is excellently situated in the charming little town of Kaapsehoop. The home is spacious, clean, and extremely well equipped. Our host was particularly helpful and always available whenever needed. I would highly recommend The Blue Swallow for a breakaway with friends and family.
The house has a beautiful view and the photos give you a good idea of what it looks like inside, but there is much more detail in the house than the photos show. The location and view are amazing. The kitchen is fully equipped and the house has everything you need, with many unexpected extras. Feels like the owner just removed their clothes from the closets and left the house like that. We enjoyed every moment and are already looking forward to our next visit.
This wonderful, huge property is situated on the edge of town, has stunning mountain views, is very quiet and secluded but still within walking distance of all the town's attractions. The size and fireplace of the living room, main bedroom and deck came as a welcome surprise. It would also be perfect for a group of friends, due to the four en-suite bedrooms. The kitchen is very well equipped with state-of-the-art appliances. Our stay was a pleasure. Will be back.
We were looking for a spacious unit where three couples (one with an eight year old) could comfortably stay at home and The Blue Swallow far exceeded our expectations especially in terms of space. This is a spacious house that is excellently equipped, with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. We would definitely recommend it to any larger group that wants to visit Kaapsehoop!
The house has a beautiful view and the photos give you a good idea of what it looks like inside. (But it's even bigger than expected!) The kitchen is fully equipped and the house has everything you need, with thoughtful extras. I immediately felt it was my home. Thank you so much Charmaine, we enjoyed every moment and are already looking forward to our next visit.
Loved the home. Thank you so much.
Spacious and comfortable, and there is a crib in the bathroom!
The location is perfect and the atmosphere is like your own home, excellent.
I will definitely recommend to all visiting the area.
Absolute farm feeling. The wonderful veranda overlooking the plains, the large spaces, the well-equipped house. Our visit was a privilege and an experience!
It was a family stay consisting of 6 adult couples and 2 small children. When we arrived we were so impressed - the house is even better than in the photos. The beds were all so nicely made with chocolates left on the pillows and fresh clean towels at the end of the beds. There were 5 rooms to choose from (one with 2 single beds for the kids) and the house was so clean and tidy. It felt as though the family who stayed there had upped and left and we had a complete house with absolutely everything we needed and more. The kitchen is so fully stocked - there is absolutely nothing you cannot find. They left us each bug spray and torches in case of power outages (which we didn't have to use) and there is even a generator should there be load shedding. There was WiFi which we could connect to, and an alarm should we need it. The closed fireplace inside is beautiful and warms up the whole house - we made a fire every evening and Charmaine was kind enough to make sure we had enough wood for our whole stay. I was also delighted to find so many tables and chairs outside as we would spend quite some time on the deck. The wild horses came up to the fence which the children loved and everything in the little town is within walking distance. Charmaine was amazing - answering all my queries before I arrived and even kind enough to leave us a bag of charcoal as we were worried we would arrive too late to buy on the way on our first night. We honestly did not want for anything - even sugar and coffee was provided. Strongly recommend this house - think it is the best self catering accommodation option in Kaapsehoop.
The weekend was very nice. The house is very beautiful and it's very peaceful. The porch has the most beautiful view. Will definitely want to visit there again and the village itself is very nice. We heard many stories from the local people who live there themselves. Would love to retire there one day.
The Blue Swallow is an absolute gem, the house is fully equipped with everything you could need for a short or long visit. Big enough for a large family and well located for nature lovers. I will definitely go back to visit there again.
Unfortunately, the DSTV was inactive and a nice outside table that can accommodate enough people would be lovely.
Please book this house. Charmaine is really helpful, and makes sure your stay is wonderful. Kitchen has EVERYTHING you need! Lovely walk into town. We will be back.
I would definitely recommend the stay. Ideal for large family gathering or even a group of friends. House is very spacious, two of the bathrooms a bit neat, but not the end of the world at all. It's the last house down the street, so lovely privacy, plenty of parking. We have stayed in various places in Kaapsehoop, but will definitely come back to The Blue Swallow.
Very nice, neat place, everything one needs to recharge. Beautiful surroundings, saw the wild horses and drove back to Pretoria in thick fog. Kaapsehoop gets bad fog, I just wish the people would drive more slowly in the fog, and consider the horses' lives!
We are a group of older bikers who often struggle to get everyone together. Blue Swallow is perfect with enough bedrooms and bathrooms. Beautiful interior decoration with large living areas and a lovely patio with an unspoilt view. Excellent value for money. We'll go again soon!
Great house, perfect location, stunning views.
The surrounding veranda provided a view of the scenery and horses walking by. We also took the most beautiful photos from there. You are right on the edge of Kaapsehoop with houses behind you but on the stoep side you are completely isolated from everything and everyone. Would stay there again anytime and highly recommend.
The Blue Swallow exceeded all our expectations! Perfect place to stay in Kaapsehoop.
The stay was excellent. We were particularly impressed by the space at the Blue Swallow.
I booked this place for me, my wife, our 8 year old, my in-laws and grandmother-in-law. There was so much privacy for each of us with our own bedroom/bathrooms. It was special to sit of the veranda and watch the fog or sunset and just relax. Being on the quiet edge of town was great and its a short walk to the shops. The kitchen and communal areas were huge making it easy for us all to not feel cramped and relax together.
The house is fully equipped with everything you might need. Everything you can think of is in the kitchen, even if you unexpectedly get inspired to make something for dinner. It feels as if you are staying in a neat family member's house without them being there: Nothing is staged and it feels very homely. We definitely want to go again for longer. The only "criticism" I can mention is that there wasn't a guest book/information sheet that tells you how things like the alarm and WiFi work or contains important contact numbers in town. Maybe it was there, but we didn't find it. Parking is outside on the street like most places in town.
Beautiful comfy home with all you need is available. Neat and clean. Beautiful view from the veranda, lovely space to drink your morning coffee and start the day.
Die beste plekkie in Kaapsehoop.
We only stayed one night. The view is beautiful and the accommodation spacious and comfortable. It bothered me a bit that the tiles of the showers were painted a little black. There was no hot water in the master bedroom in the morning. Overall good stay though.
The Blue Swallow exceeded all our expectations! We had a wonderful stay and really enjoyed the view of the forest and the visits of the horses! You will definitely see us again!
Very friendly, hospitable reception and accommodation.
We had a wonderful rest and visit. The house's location gives guests the best of the village with a beautiful view. Thank you very much, the house met all our expectations and more.
Could definitely recommend this accommodation. Very spacious, neat house, fully equipped. View is excellent.
We booked a weekend in Kaapsehoop for a group of friends, none of us having been there before, and randomly chose the Blue Swallow since we were 4 couples so needed a big house. The overview and pics of the house don't do it justice at all! We had more than enough space - and the house is generously equipped with things like cutlery and crockery and a dishwasher, so chores were not a concern. It is centrally located in Kaapsehoop, which is tiny and wonderfully quaint, so we parked our cars and walked everywhere, including some of the many beautiful walking trails accessed directly from the town. But the famous wild horses come right up to the edge of the property while they're grazing so you don't even have to leave the massive covered deck if you don't want to!
Neat, spacious, homely house with all facilities. Good location to enjoy the horses grazing, foxes walk around early at night and the exceptional birdlife.
The accommodation is the ideal location if you want to explore the area. The house has absolutely everything you could possibly need and more. The view is breathtaking. The fireplace is a bonus.
We really enjoyed our time at Blue Swallow. The house was beautiful, clean and tidy with everything you need. Very nice view! And very cute town. We will definitely come back again.
Lovely place. Beautiful accommodation. Five star customer service.
We had a very nice stay. Spacious house. Well equipped. Comfortable. The horses grazed in front of the house and there were lots of bird life.
See stars.
Of all the houses at Kaapsehoop, this one has the best location. The veranda is a lovely place to socialise whilst enjoying the view. The home is so well equipped that it actually feels as though one is staying at the owner's house.
The house has a lovely location at the end of Kaapsehoop with a view over the plantations. The kitchen is well equipped and we could easily prepare meals and braai. We enjoyed the big patio and lawn a lot, more than enough space for the kids to run around without bothering anyone. Unfortunately the DStv didn't work, but there was more than enough to keep everyone busy.
Very beautiful, well equipped, delicious and fantastic. Definitely back on our list!
Our stay at The Blue Swallow was very comfortable, peaceful and carefree. The kitchen is very fully equipped. The whole house is very clean and tidy. The beds are comfortable and the layout of the house very practical. The best points of the house are the view, the privacy and the fireplace! We will definitely come back again. Thank you Charmaine for your and Jabulani's effort.
