The Cottage is spacious accommodation with everything needed for self-catering. Lots of space to relax.
Lovely big cottage with super kitted out kitchen, good hot shower.
The unit had everything we needed, plus a lot of extra's. The short, untarred, suburban road is a little tricky to navigate due to all of the rains.
We had a very pleasant overnight stop while travelling between CPT and KZN. Hosts were very helpful and we would love to come back in future for a longer visit.

Very comfortable facility with most amenities one needs for a stay. Parking is a bit tricky, particularly if you are towing. Elske was a very helpful host.
Elske was a very helpful hostess but still allowed privacy. The Cottage is beautifully fitted and the main bed very comfortable.

My only criticism is that on the day of our arrival it was pouring with rain. A covered walkway over the stairs down to the cottage would be great. Other than that we enjoyed our stay. The hostess was very friendly.

Elske and Hans were welcoming and helpfulness itself, even to the extent of supplying braai wood, charcoal and firelighters. Their four happy dogs are equally welcoming, so it's a real homely feel! The unit is well-equipped for self-catering. The lower unit (which we occupied) is approached by a flight of stairs which can be a little challenging when lugging suitcases etc. The garden is beautiful and peaceful, but a clean table on the stoep when braaiing would have been appreciated.

Pretty self-catering cottage in a lovely garden. Full DStv, helpful hosts supplied a fan and bottled water at my request and directed me onwards on lovely roads. Safe location and parking. Thankful.

We were met by the owner, Elske Britz, who was kind and very helpful, and we introduced our dogs to each other; they got on well. She showed us the cottage, and said if there was anything we needed, we had only to ask, then left us to our privacy. The Cottage was very well equipped, the shower worked well, and the bed was cosy. We had the use of a lovely braai area on the deck, which we didn't use, as it was rather cold out at night. All in all, a lovely choice of self-catering places to stay in Maclear.
We had a wonderful overnight stay at The Cottage. We were kindly received and the apartments were beautiful, neat and very comfortably furnished. Can highly recommend it!
Friendly hostess and had a lovely overnight.
For self-catering accommodation it was fine.
Upon our arrival, we have to ring the phone for a while, before the hostess answered. She "apologized" that the place was not quite right and the mattress was not up to standard and she did offer to provide a better mattress. We couldn't sleep because of mosquitoes - no mesh in front of the windows or doors. It was hot and stuffy in the apartment, but we couldn't open the windows because of mosquitoes. There was mosquito spray provided, but my grandchild cannot use it. There was a standing fan provided in one bedroom, but since it makes a lot of "noise", we couldn't use it either. The small bed's bedding was not clean, the pillows were flat and there was no sheet on the bed. Upon our arrival, the host's large dog ran into the accommodation and jumped on my 2 year old grandchild and scratched her in the face. The parking area is very steep and not suitable for cars that are low.

We were extremely surprised with the beautiful apartment and view, Elske, the host, was helpful and friendly and even brought us biscuits. We regret we only stayed overnight and couldn't stay longer, because it is a very comfortable apartment with a beautiful view from the balcony. It was the middle of winter but we were snuggled up with extra blankets and a lovely hot shower to chase away the cold. I recommend The Cottage to anyone wanting to visit Maclear.
Cozy and comfortable.
Very clean and tidy, especially the bathroom. Wood by the fireplace, milk in the fridge and biscuits for morning coffee was a pleasant surprise. Will definitely stay there again.

Accommodation was very neat and I a beautiful setting. Host is friendly and helpful. Would book again. Only drawback is that the wooden floors in the top unit creak too loudly. Also gap on the bottom of the front door needs to be fixed and bugs and insects kept coming in. Otherwise beautiful.

Clean an neat with all the facilities we needed. The host lady was so friendly. I recommend Alpine Bistro for a delicious breakfast.
We had a great stay, and will definitely stay at The Cottage again if we are in the area. We couldn't find anything wrong. The only problem was our GPS which struggled to get us to The Cottage (both Garmin and Google Maps). The GPS coordinates along with the details of The Cottage, for future visitors will make the whole experience that much more enjoyable.

We only stayed overnight on the way to Mooirivier, but Elske went to a lot of trouble to ensure we had everything we needed and more. It was clean and neat and lovely and peaceful with a view from the balcony over the garden full of trees, and there are braai facilities on the balcony.
Elske received us very kindly and made a lot of effort for us. The accommodation is clean and modern with a lovely veranda overlooking the garden and beautiful barbecue. Absolutely everything needed is provided here. Definitely recommend.

Arrived exhausted from an over-long trip to a warm welcome, hot shower and comfy bed. Beautifully crafted kitchen and bathroom. Enjoyed the tin of rusks with our morning coffee. Sitting room led onto private veranda and piece (peace) of the garden. Lovely.
The place is newly redone and it is very well done. Everything needed for a sleepover was there, even a heater and nice blanket to sit under in front of the TV! All I would like to see in addition are separate switches for the two bedside lamps.
It is spacious, comfortable and luxurious with every available facility. The owners are terrific people. We loved the stay and would definitely stay there on a return visit.
