I arrived having booked the Kingfisher room but unexpectedly got very sick on my way to Stutterheim. The kind host upgraded my boyfriend and myself to their cottage which she felt would be more comfortable in my unfortunate state. The cottage was so beautiful, the gardens were gorgeous and I would absolutely recommend The Croft Cottages.
Did expect a bit more, but for value for money, I cannot complain and will definitely stay with you guys again, thank you.
Could do with a little fabric, would be nice, but everything is perfect there.
We stayed there on two occasions, a week apart. We had booked the Kingfisher room, which was fairly basic but exactly as described, comfortable and well-equipped. For the second stay we were offered an upgrade to the Guinea Fowl cottage which proved to be well worth the extra cost, and was very spacious and comfortable. The only drawback, which afflicts all accommodation in the area, is the condition of the tarred roads which are terribly potholed and are a disgrace to the authority involved, though some attempt has been made by locals closer to the accommodation to fill in the holes with sand.
The stay was satisfactory.
Our visit to Stutterheim and the Amathole District is mainly for birding, specifically for the Cape Parrot. The natural surroundings are beautiful. The hosts are very helpful.
