The property has 2 lovely homes, which are professionally built cob houses with beautiful indigenous wooden window frames, doors and counters. Both homes feel cosy, natural and uncomplicated. They are well insulated. Each has its own large secure garden area.
The farm has 8 hectares of elevated, thick indigenous forest which can be experienced close up when doing the Jackal Buzzard Trail. This is about a 30-minute walk, taking guests through the forest, with shady places to stop and have a rest while admiring the view over the lakes.
The Wilderness Milkwood Village is 14 km away from the farm and has a variety of shops, restaurants, medical facilities, hairdressers and a laundry service. The scenic route takes guests along the edge of Langvlei Lake, past the Brown Hooded Kingfisher hiking trail, along the banks of island Lake, across the railway bridge at Ebb and Flow National Park, past the Half Collared Kingfisher hiking trail and along the Wilderness lagoon with its boardwalk.

12 guests' feedbackUnique accommodation and very friendly and helpful hosts. I just recommend that the ad mention the fact that there is a fairly long, ugly stretch of dirt road to drive. I wouldn't have gone if I had known.
Stayed six nights in Hobbit House at Funny Farm Shire (over Christmas) with family - very beautiful, fantastic view and very peaceful. Really enjoyed the Lord of the Rings themed accommodation/farm and walks (my dog too! Best walkies!) Very friendly and helpful hosts too. Large private/fenced garden.
The house was clean and spacious, and fully equipped to make our stay very comfortable. The property was fully enclosed which enabled us to take our little dog. That area is beautiful, a great getaway, close to the sea, and forest walks. The owners were friendly and welcoming. We will definitely go back when we next visit the area.
The view over Langvlei is very beautiful and the call of the osprey is the "cherry" on the cake.
My dogs loved running around on it, and encountering the (neighbour's) horses. The cottages are "hobbit-themed" and whether that appeals or not it is certainly well-built, charming, and well laid out. The stoep extends from the living area and we spent the cooler parts of the day on it, enjoying that lawn.
Rich bird life, beautiful scenery, neat accommodation, friendly owners, great place for your dog children!

Very special house with a nice view, very quiet and in a peaceful environment.
We really enjoyed the accommodation. Our house was clean and neat. The nature is incredible and the stars left us speechless. Tessa and Jerry was friendly, helpful and made us feel at home.
Had a nice cozy stay in the Hobbit House. The calls of the ospreys and the owls made every braai just more special. Location is ideal for a peaceful holiday by the sea.
