Room was neat clean and modern. Outside on your private veranda there are two chairs and a table. We sat there and enjoyed the surroundings. The breakfast was delicious. Everyone was friendly and the service was great.

"Our stay was marred by a confusing description of the rates on the site."

Our stay was good, but it was marred by a little incident that left a bad taste in the mouth. The site is advertised as " Price Includes: Double Room: Rates displayed are on a B&B Basis". So my take on this is that breakfast is included in the advertised price. But when we went to breakfast we were told that breakfast is extra. I emailed you: "Thank you for organizing our stay. There is a small problem: our booking with you says that the rates are on a B&B basis, but the hotel says that breakfast is not included. Could you please investigate and amend the described rates accordingly". Their response: "The host listed the unit as a B&B but the breakfast is extra if you want breakfast it is on a B&B rate. ". My reply. "I'm sorry, but that doesn't make sense to me". Their response: "Thank you for the email. It will state that breakfast is included in the quote but this property does not include breakfast, they are listed as a B&B under other rates. When breakfast is included it will say on the website a continental breakfast included. ". It still doesn't make sense to me.

We received wonderful service from the time we checked in until we left. The unit was beautiful, neat and modern with all the necessities and the breathtaking green grass and beautiful garden by the river was a bonus. Truly felt like we were in paradise. Will definitely go again. Breakfast was also delicious.

Our room had two single beds and they turned it into a king size bed for us.

The campsite is clean and well maintained. Ablution block is cleaned every now and then by friendly workers. Teenagers were at the water all the time fishing and gave us a chance to hang out with other campers. Too bad some of the boats were rushing by, but didn't bother the fish much. Would camp there again anytime.

Clean and tidy, friendly staff. Room was beautiful and the bed slept great. Would definitely recommend it.

"Bittersweet."

We were the only guests in the campsite which was very nice and quiet and clean. The next morning we went to the restaurant for breakfast. (7h15). But the reception and the restaurant then only open at 8h00. We then sat there dry-mouthed on the beautiful, pretty stoep that looked out peacefully and quietly over the lawns and the Gamtoos River. Take out my Laptop and do some admin. Lovely and peaceful. But, there then started a noise from a bunch of people in one of the rooms, and at first we thought it was a group of tourists from the hotel who woke up and started standing closer for breakfast. But no, it wasn't tourists, it was about 15 staff members chirping and "chatting". (7h30) An annoying noise, because even though we couldn't even get coffee, (with about 15 staff members there) it was at least nice to appreciate the early morning silence and the birds. But then we had to listen to the noise instead of the silence. (The marketing brochure does say something about "tranquility".) Finally 8h00 comes and someone comes to ask if we want to order something. Highly annoyed by the noise and the loud music that they also put on at 08h00, we would rather just order coffee. I was going to ask if they would turn the music down? The manager then very kindly reckons that there is a group of people on their way at 10h00 (2 hours later) who have booked out the restaurant. I then told him that it is only in 2 hours, and we would like to have quiet now, since we are the only guests. But I walked away instead, because I didn't feel like more poor reasoning. At least he turned the music down a little. I then went to ask him again to please. to sit even more softly, which he then also did. While we were sitting and drinking coffee, 2 cleaners came and swept the stoep's floor. But again with a chattering noise as they move the metal chairs around and bump their paws against each other. We then call the waiter again and ask him if it is really necessary? The staff have been sitting there laughing and making noise for 45 minutes, but now that it's 8:00 and guests are trying to enjoy their coffee (or breakfast), now they come and once again make a noise while there are guests. He then asked them to come clean later instead. Just then the manager and his young and friendly receptionist also walked by. We then told them about everything, and their defense was that the Hotel reception and restaurant will only open from next week (around the 10th of December) earlier than 8h00. We tried to explain to them that some guests want to eat earlier than 8h00 so that they can get in the way earlier. But they don't seem to understand anything we're trying to tell them. In their courtesy and their friendliness, they defended that "these are the hotel's rules".

"Mixed Feelings."

The location is great, the view is fantastic. The room and bathroom have no ventilation holes and you can't actually leave the windows open when you're not there - so it stays damp and stuffy. Unfortunately our room was not clean, when I contacted the manager about the used bedding he immediately brought me new ones. But I'm expected to make my own bed (and helped me in the end) - not death cases, but I'd have it differently. The breakfast was oily and there is a lot of room for improvement - we only ate one breakfast at the hotel and otherwise preferred to go to the town's restaurants. The staff in the restaurant were very friendly and helpful, the receptionist treated me (when I called to let them know we might check in late) as if she was doing me the world's greatest favor. So. Mixed feelings, but I would probably go there again.

What a lovely place. It was our first time visit, and I am sorry that we booked such a short stay. Definitely planning a longer stay soon. Well maintained camping area and ablutions. Friendly staff, and they even have a shop on site for the forgotten items for our camp. Felt very safe there and we even left all our camping stuff outside when we went to bed!
