We were a group of parents who attended the Bethlehem Tour. We were kindly received and our host went out of his way to receive us a little earlier and later help us put together a braai for the group. The restaurant/bar on site was very convenient. The rooms are not luxurious, but very comfortably furnished and have everything you need for a night or two of sleepover.
Price is good, rooms are spacious and clean. You walk past a bar from the parking area to the accommodation. I don't know if it's always so quiet in the evening or if we were just lucky. Welcome was curt and rushed.
We did not have such a nice stay. The room was not very clean, the shower was not clean either, to the extent that no one from my family could shower. The TV is a very small 54cm box TV, so we could hardly see anything. The beds are very soft and creak a lot, the mattresses have been slept through. We couldn't drive early the next morning as planned, because we were parked and there isn't enough parking. This caused us to be late for the appointment. At least it was quiet during the night. We were helped with ice free of charge.
With my arrival, I was given a packet with tea, coffee, milk, sugar and the wi-fi password. The room was clean and comfortable. Bed had an electric blanket on and aircon. I know BHM weather, I lived there long enough to know it can get cold. The only thing I did not like was the door joining the rooms. I could hear the people next door, Room 6 talking for hours and then snoring during the night. But other than that it was an enjoyable stay. Thank you.
Booking was already made and confirmed in June. On arrival we were allocated a different room than was booked and confirmed. Mattresses weak and worn while pillowcases looked like they had grease stains on them. Luckily we had our own pillowcases. Floor tiles very cracked and broken or just filled with cement. The loose carpet was so full of leaks (it was actually creepy) and on arrival there was no water. Only when I inquired was JoJo tank's water turned on. Restaurant/bar on premises just such a dark place with extremely unprofessional staff and poor food. Provided owner with photos and informed that I will notify you. It certainly does not bode well for the website.
Room was clean and bed comfortable. Enough bathrooms and well equipped kitchen. Secure parking behind the gate and even a television. Friendly staff and an on-site restaurant. WiFi unfortunately did not catch up to the room.
Upon my arrival I immediately felt at home and could rest in complete privacy.

Safety, all gas bottles are not in closed cages. They advertise as standalone rooms, which they are not, all are semi-detached with interleading doors into the next room. People drinking, making a noise till late at night, not our scene.
We booked two rooms, Nos 3 and 5, for two nights over the weekend. Rooms were neat and place was safe. However, there was no hot water in either room. The bedside lamp in Room 5 also did not work. So we left after one night (without showering!) and thus unfortunately forfeited the second night's money.

The Highland Inn is a nice comfortable place. Everything is close and at hand. I was not satisfied with the room I booked. The Highlands simply quickly and comfortably gave me a better room. The room was nice and comfortable. Good service rendered to me. Thank you very much for the stay.
Accommodation sufficient to stay overnight or two, but not for longer! Very limited and certainly large families (2A + 2C or more) will feel very caged. Parking is very limited.
Beautiful neat units, well equipped. Just a pity that the Bar and social area is 15m from the units' windows and that we were the lucky winners to spend the night on karaoke night or Bethlehem got talent (or not). The noise at the bar was really disappointing as some of the guests who had been hanging out at the bar all day decided to sing into the microphone. Sunday was wonderfully quiet, because the Bar was closed. People should be aware that there is a high possibility that you will have to listen to "want to be" singers until late, against your will. If you are looking for 100% tranquility, your chances of disappointment are high, especially over a weekend. If you like socializing and noise, this is your ideal destination.
On arrival we were told that the on-site bar closes at 9pm. My family and I used the braai facilities on the deck in front of the rooms, which creates a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately the bar didn't close at 9pm then. The noise only got worse as bear pong was being played. Around 22:00 someone started talking and singing on a microphone and just more noise. The ladies screamed and screamed like crazy. All the rooms are a few meters from the bar and were extremely disturbing until after midnight. We stayed there as we had a sports day in Bethlehem on Saturday morning and we wanted to enjoy a peaceful night's rest without getting up at 4:00 to drive from Bloemfontein. We should have slept at our own house instead. The bar, which is open to the public and has clear regulars, is clearly much more important to the owners than their overnight guests. Even when you walk into reception it smells like smoke coming from the bar, and then the dining room is right next to the bar without any precautions to get rid of the smoke. No non-smoker would want or be able to sit and eat there, it's disgusting! The owners will have to decide who they want to accommodate, because a bar on the same premises as a guesthouse just can't work. I will never stay there again or recommend the place to anyone. Unless you want to hang out with the people in the bar until the wee hours of the morning. Very very poor style.
Right from the start of the booking until I left, it was a very nice experience. The communication was excellent all the time and I felt very welcome when I arrived. The Highland Inn is ideal for any traveller and I will definitely stay there again.

I call it a gem and a special place to stay overnight. It contains more than one expects. I would definitely, if at all possible, use The Highland Inn again. The reception was friendly and we were really thoughtfully accommodated.
The accommodation for our family of three was extremely affordable. The bathroom that some of the rooms have to share might be a problem for some people, but it wasn't a problem for us. Everything was clean and tidy.

The security needs greater attention as there is also a bar, especially on weekends.
The bedroom is without issue. The bathroom was a disaster. No hooks for pajamas. Also no towel railing or rack for toiletware. The biggest problem was that cold and hot taps were not indicated. The basin and the shower. Hot shower for basin, but no hot water for shower. I kept both taps running for a very long time in the shower without any success. After a long day I had to be satisfied with a cold shower. This is not acceptable, I definitely didn't get value for my money. I also feel the advertisement should say that the bathroom is not connected to the room, you have to walk down a corridor. For us senior citizens who have to visit the bathroom a few times during the night this setup is not ideal. First time I experienced a bathroom and bedroom not connected.

The accommodation was neat and clean, but very small and cramped after our previous stay in Gariep. Was well equipped though.
We stayed in the old house, was very neat and value for money. All problem I did have is that it was against the main road, especially if the trucks exhaust brake and gears down gear that it disturbs your rest, especially if you have been on the road for 15 hours.
It's just a shame there is no mention of the hangout that later played music. Furthermore, the ad stated there was WiFi, but it was exhausted after a short time of work, rather it states limited WiFi available.
The braai facilities and bar on the same premises is ridiculous. A big group of people were also there during our stay and partied till 2:00 in the morning.

Reception was outstanding and the rooms were better and larger than expected for the price. The GPS was in English and we struggled to find the street.
Parking and security are not up to standard.
The room is spacious, clean and tidy. The bathroom is spacious, but the workmanship is not good at all. I can look past that though. What bothers me a lot is the following: Parking lot is very small. If there are 3 or more cars, you will struggle to get out. The entrance to the car park is also only big enough for 1 vehicle to pass through. They advertise safe parking on their website. To me "secure parking" at least means locked gates, which was not the case. People can come into the parking lot from the street and get to your vehicle. It also made me feel unsafe on site. There was no one at reception when I got there at 14:15 on Friday. I stood around waiting for a long time and later a cleaner came to ask if she could help and gave me the key. This is extremely poor service! Until now I still don't know who the owners are or who works at reception. I got there again in the late afternoon and a man came out of the unit next to mine and asked if I got a key. I'm still not sure if he's a janitor. I assume so since he unlocked reception once this weekend. On Sunday when I wanted to check out, no one was available again ("reception" was closed.) I then knocked on the unit next to the man I spoke to on Friday to ask where I should hand in the key. I was informed that I should leave the key on the inside of the door and just close the door. If something goes missing - who will take the responsibility for it?
For us it was the ideal accommodation as it was central to our visit and we will definitely use it again.

We had a very nice stay. A little cramped, but neat. The parking area is safe, but also cramped and it makes it difficult to get out again.
The environment is nice and quiet. Place to put the keys in the morning when you go out would also be a good idea.
By phone I received good service from the "Highland Inn" but we had to wait to check in after arranging a check-in time. We also struggled with a leaky faucet that dripped all night and a double bed in which 2 people could sleep uncomfortably. The bed and base were noticeably old and warped. I will not be able to recommend it to my family and friends.
Secure parking for cars very very limited. Only small cars can park comfortably, but it's very cramped. There are no fans or air conditioning in the rooms, so it's very hot. No glasses to drink water from. The round cups there look like tea cups which are also not nice to drink coffee out of. There are blinds in front of the windows which I felt were not adequate. Should you open windows for oxygen, the blinds will open and everyone can see you. Also had to open door for oxygen. Everyone can see you driving in if your door is also open to light. Should you only stay overnight for one night, it is sufficient to leave again in the morning. Two days would not have been pleasant at all.
It was very tidy with everything you need for a stopover on the way to your next destination. The people were very friendly and helpful. Secure parking for the unit we stayed in.
Highland Inn left a good impression on me and I will use their services again when needed. The room and the facilities were neat and clean. The surroundings were peaceful and the gardens quite well maintained. Parking was in front of the door and created a safe atmosphere. Although this is a self-catering unit, there are no dishwashing facilities. I don't like washing dishes in the bathroom! Will go back again.
These units may be suitable for just a night's sleepover, but certainly not for a weekend. Although we knew it was semi-self-catering, we were disappointed when we did find a microwave there, but nothing to use in the oven. A deep plate or two would be convenient. We eat e.g. cereal in the morning, and we had to use the cups as porridge bowls. Fortunately, January was available to provide us with enough knives and other cutlery.
Was welcomed by a cleaner. There were no fans or air conditioning. The blinds are in a terrible state, kettle, microwave and grill wires too short to reach plug. One has to put it on the floor if you want to use it. Only one bedside table for the double bed, had to use a chair. Will never ever stay there again.

The budget accommodation is a new addition to Highland Inn and is a house with 6 separate rooms, divided into 2 sections with one bathroom to share per section. Each room offers multiple beds, which makes it ideal for large groups, school tours, contractors or families, looking for a more affordable night's stay. There is a fully equipped, self-catering kitchen with a large shared living space.
All rooms and common areas are sanitized daily.
