122 guests' feedbackWonderful place with everything you need—pool, pool table, foosball, bar, table tennis, and more. Plenty to keep you busy, and it's very close to the seashore. The pets were great entertainment for the kids. The host is excellent and always available to assist with anything you need. WiFi can be improved.
Beautiful, peaceful guest house.
Will definitely recommend to friends and colleagues.
Very nice stay. Accommodation is comfortable. Would help to protect the braai part a little from the wind.
We had a really nice stay. Pleasant host, clean and tidy place and the stay at HKB was a fantastic experience.
Very nice stay, thank you!
Most enjoyable. Lots of wind.
Lovely stay - host very helpful and friendly.
Place needs some serious TLC.
Our group checked in after several days of wild camping along the Namaqua Coast. Love the place. Clean, tidy and neat. Nice view and Attie, the owner, is a fantastic host.
Nice stay. Excellent location, tidy and Attie, the owner, is awesome.
Unfortunately we only slept over. Wish we could stay longer.
Great getaway spot!
Excellent place, will definitely visit again.
First overnight in Hondeklip Bay. Beautiful village. Very friendly welcome. The house was clean and tidy.
Nice stay. We would stay there again.
It was a lovely visit. Place was neat with pretty much all necessities. Own drinking water must be brought.
I am very happy that my family and I could sleep over for 4 nights (wish it was longer) at HonneHokke Resort. I would like to thank you again for Attie's kindness. Perhaps just a suggestion is to service the units and provide new towels for guests staying longer than a day or two.
Double bed mattress hollow and mushy. Paint shell off outside. Shower door is now. Big fridge, but get milk powder? Coffee machine, but instant coffee? Create sense of sharpening. Sorry about the negative feedback. In the photo the place looks by the sea, but in reality it is a few blocks from the sea.
Suited our purpose exactly.
The tranquility and surroundings do wonders for the soul and the place to stay offers all that is needed, hope to visit there again in the future.
Worth it will go again.
It was really a very nice place to stay. These are decent log houses that are double insulated. It creates a nice atmosphere. The place was spacious enough and you can see it is well maintained. Secure one of the nicest places to stay on the West Coast.
We enjoyed our stay on Hondeklip Bay.
We felt so welcome. Everyone was so kind and the little dogs kept my son so happy.
The room is clean with basic necessities. There are no coffee making facilities in the room without a kitchen. The room with a kitchen has basic utensils. Take drinking water along as none is supplied and guests are warned not to drink water from taps.
The owners are beautiful, no words can describe how special the two people are. People-people at their best. You won't find the extra mile with Disprin and After Sun for a burnt body anywhere else.
People-friendly, Zorrow the puppy will be greatly missed. Will refer everyone to LekkeSlaap.
I had to sleep over two nights - a week apart because I was going to walk the Namaqua Camino. I was very well received and the rooms were spacious and more than suitable for making preparations. I was also granted permission to leave my vehicle on the premises while I walked. Great service and friendliness.
Clean. Tidy. Helpful. Will definitely stay again.
Wonderful stay! Hondeklipbaai has definitely found a special place in my heart and I hope that I can make a trip there again soon. Esme and her husband are wonderful people, friendly service, comfortable accommodation in one of the most beautiful unspoilt coastal communities. I recommend it 100%. The place captured me! I would love to come back again.
Esme and her husband Attie made us feel very much at home, we were a group of 9 people and we were allowed to barbecue and hang out with them and later that evening Attie sang and played the guitar for us! It was very special! The kennels are a beautiful place where your animal children are also welcome! 5 star experience!
I appreciated a bed after a long trip. The people were friendly. Although I am not easily bothered by noises, the fridge was quite disturbing as I slept in the living and dining room.
Very remote and outside us city dwellers' norm. Enjoyed watching huge waves break over the rocks and explored a sad graveyard of people mainly lost at sea. Wild, lonely spot.
Room and living area very nice. Close to walking.
First visit to Hondeklip Bay was very nice and good value for money. Would definitely recommend to someone looking for something completely different to go to.
Nice little town. Really enjoyed the stay.
See stars.
Ideal for just sleeping to visit flowers and National Park.
We had a nice stay, everything was as on website. We love the village and the area has a lot to offer in terms of sun/sand/sea. Will be back for sure!
Kennels very neat and clean. Friendly, helpful service and hospitable. We enjoyed the visit! Will definitely stay there again.
Short upgrade, all in units very old.
Definitely not 3 star. Rooms were very neat and spacious. Kitchen needs upgrading.
Not value for money.
The Houghs are pleasant people and good hosts, they make you feel welcome with their warm and genuine hospitality.
Very quiet and owner very friendly and helpful. Was our 3rd time there and will go again.
It was a very nice place. Attie and Esme are fantastic people and looked after us very well.
The unit is not quite suitable for 4 adults, it will suit a family.
It was a nice time here and the accommodation is neat and clean. Nice swimming area with table tennis, pool etc. Remember to bring your own bath towels. It is not provided. Unfortunately we were not prepared for this and just used our swimming towels. Children must be kept quiet, noise is not tolerated. Nice walking distance from all the places to eat.
Very tranquil and safe with shipwrecks and viewpoints. Rest for the soul. Really nice stay.
Sorry that Hondeklip Bay has a problem with water. Although it is beyond the control of the guest house.
Very nice. Enough and calm.
We enjoyed the sea air. Very quiet coastal town.
It is expensive for what you get. Just fine to spend one night.
We had a nice stay. The owners were not there, but problems were solved by the staff. Hondeklipbaai itself is not in the best condition.
What was convenient was the fact that the unit we slept in had a closed yard which made it comfortable to be able to take Charlie (our puppy) with us. Haven't seen the other units but our personal opinion is the price per night in Hondeklip Bay with outdated decor is too much!
Die HonneHokke was a very pleasant place to stay, and the owners were extremely helpful - they helped us out with another day's stay at a moment's notice. The accommodation was really neat and clean and the beds comfortable.
For us coming from a busy town, this little town was something to experience! The house was clean, people were friendly and we could relax.
The purpose of our visit to Namaqualand was to look at flowers and unfortunately we were a week too late. However, we were fortunate to still see beautiful flowers here and there. At the Honnehokke, we were a bit upset with each other the first night and wondered how we were going to get through 2 days there. It turned into a nice visit and drive around the area and was surprised how many attractions there are in the area. Our visit to Koiingnaas was one of the highlights. My conversations with Attie and his hospitality and helpfulness (especially with the wheelchair accident) were incredible.
Thank you for a nice visit.
Friendly, helpful people. Pikkewyn is very helpful.
This place is well equipped and just the right place if you'd like to get away from everything. A jewel on the West Coast without a lot of people and city slickers.
We enjoyed our stay in the spacious and neat accommodation offered by HonneHokke. The sleeping facilities were good, and the kitchen was neat and fully equipped.
The owner was very friendly. The accommodation was clean and tidy. We could leave our property in the rooms with great boldness. Very friendly people and such a peaceful atmosphere! We had a wonderful rest.
Did not know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. Well kept and looked after for such a remote resort.
Honnehokke fit very nicely with the environment and it is a special experience.
Wonderful place to relax, beautiful scenery.
HonneHokke and Hondeklipbaai are synonymous. If you want to go to Hondeklip Bay, hopefully you already know what to expect. All that remains then is to enjoy the HonneHokke and the town and surroundings. We had a lot of rain, but together with the "Honne" we are grateful for every drop! One must pay a visit to Hondeklipbaai/HonneHokke at least once in one's life.
I'm so sorry we ever ended up there. It was the worst decision ever to stay there. It almost crashed the 2000 km ride. On Friday when we arrived the man was very friendly. The place is nice and clean. Everything looked so great. Friday afternoon we lit a fire (17:00) sat and talked, then Esmé came and told me we were making noise and we should please be quiet. It was around 6:30pm, not that we were making any noise either. We are too many people and more than what was booked. The children are apparently too old to be children and that we please keep other people in mind. What I don't understand is that we are too many people? We are only 6 as booked and a baby of 2. On our booking we were never asked how old the children were. She was blatantly nasty to us. After that, we found out that there is no water either. We asked about it and were told they have water restrictions - however the whole town has water but not them. We couldn't shower or flush the toilet. We packed our things on Saturday morning and went looking for another place in town to stay for the rest of the weekend. I will never ever stay at the HonneHokke again, nor do I recommend anyone to stay there. It's more like an old people's home with a nasty management team, where people just have to stay, keep quiet and preferably do nothing.
We had a delightful stay! These typical West Coast units were tidy and well-equipped with everything we needed. The staff were very friendly and hospitable.
Thank you very much for the friendly reception! We felt right at home! Neat and clean with everything needed for a vacation!
Honnehokkie and Hondeklipbaai gave me the best vacation I've ever had. Wouldn't exchange this for any other place in the world. Attie and team were wonderful. The quiet and privacy are priceless.
Very comfortable and nice people. We really enjoyed it.
We had a wonderful stay. Unit was neat and well equipped. Customer service excellent.
I've wanted to see the place for years, it's such a beautiful, peaceful fishing village. People are friendly and the accommodation is beautiful.
Honnehokke's houses are basic, but comfortable and clean. The unit we were in had 6 beds and I think if there were 6 people staying there it would be very cramped. We were only 3 and it was comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped. The owners are friendly. It's good value for money for sure.
We were received very kindly. The owner went out of his way to assist us. The power was out, but a generator provided the necessary. Had a great sleep over.
Although the local residents can cause a disturbance at times, the silence and the sea are heavenly. A big positive is that man's best friend is welcome.
We received a very generous and friendly reception and the place to stay was very nice. Als was clean and had all that was needed for a pleasant few days. Attie was very concerned and always asked if we were comfortable.
We really enjoyed our stay. No complaints.
Nice place for an overnight stay, not much to do except drive around. Place has a bar and gym and swimming pool. All the people there very friendly and helpful.
See stars.
Hondeklipbaai was a total disappointment. The town is depressing. I couldn't get away faster. The house was cold and smelled moldy. The electric blanket was too small for the bed and I had to sleep with the cable under my body. I was so relieved to leave a day earlier that I didn't do research on getting a refund. It feels good to have Hondeklipbaai behind me.
We felt special from the moment we arrived. Attie and Esme made sure we had a great time!
Honnehokke is just the place in Hondeklipbaai. Friendly people and clean rooms.
Hondeklipbaai is a very peaceful fishing village with a beautiful view of the bay where the boats lie in the shallow water and the fishermen spot the pike right there on the quay.
The house is neat with just the right atmosphere, no TV, which is excellent. The braai area and swimming pool is just right and we had a nice braai and just chilled. The friendliness and helpfulness of the man who checked us in is greatly appreciated, especially after he helped as when we were stuck in the sand. Thank you, we will give you another visit.
The service was good and if you want to get away from the hectic life this is the place for you.
Lovely stay with excellent customer service.
Real fishing village. Stay was pleasant and owner very helpful. Place very neat.
Honnehok: Very small bathroom, and persons (3) sleeping in the kitchen have to go through the bedroom (double bed). No hot water. Gas geyser not working. No towels. Wooden house with no soundproofing. Concise
Worth driving the dirt roads and relaxing. Friendly welcome and comfortable accommodation.
Stunning and nice place. Highly recommended.
Our stay in the Honnehokke was wonderful and even though we only booked one night, we stayed three nights and enjoyed ourselves. Wish we could visit longer!
The units are very neat and spacious. It is beautifully furnished with a sheltered braai area. Although it was very foggy we could still hear, smell and taste the sea! Attie was very helpful and made us feel at home straight away. Can't wait for our next visit!
Wonderful view. Nice braai area. Spacious living area and comfortable space.
Customer service excellent. We will definitely stay at Honnehokke again. The personnel go out of their way to make you feel at home.
Please see our rating.
Well and professionally managed with friendly management and staff. The area is very quiet with little to do, therefore DStv to the accommodation will be great and will make a huge difference to value for money.
Very quiet and relaxing. The houses are a bit old and need an upgrade, but it was neat and clean. What about cotton bedding?
We did not expect the accommodation to be of the same standard as the other places during our tour. It was not as well equipped as the others. However, it is small things like e.g. no salt and pepper shakers, and no soap for the hand sink. On the positive side, we could because the wind the sheltered braai at the pool area used in cities of the one at our unit.
The place is neglected and dirty.
Bed was uncomfortable. Unit smells like cigarettes. Bad lighting. Needs repair work.
Beautiful accommodation in a beautiful friendly town! We will definitely want to go back there again. Here one can truly experience peace and quiet.
The silence is wonderful. The unit was clean and tidy. The village is very interesting. Attie is very friendly. The kitchen could be better equipped. There are e.g. not ladles. There are no tongs. There is a massive big pot and one tiny pot. We stayed in a large unit after Attie gave us an upgrade after the booking error, but there were only 3 towels (1 bath towel and 2 face towels). We were 2 adults and a baby. It's quite funny to see a big man drying off with a face towel. So at least the entertainment was good. A woman's hand may be lacking for the finer details.
Really enjoyed our visit to Hondeklip Bay. Uncle Attie was very friendly and the accommodation very cute. Will stay there again if we go back to Hondeklip Bay.
Friendly reception. Clean accommodation. Located close to the sea, what more does one need?
Although it was 9 degrees with fog and wind, the cottage was comfortable and clean. It's just a shame the wind constantly blew out the gas system of the hot water's little flame and the built-in lighter didn't work - the "manual" process was difficult.
Helpful host and the heater in the room was most welcome.
Be prepared for self-catering, very limited places to eat out.
Hospitality and food were very good. Beds and bedding were poor.
Excellent stay and service provided especially when my vehicle gave problems. Thank you. I highly reccommend this accommodation. Alwyn van der Walt (Pretoria)
It's away from the noise. Excellent stay! The sunset is one of the best, and the people were all friendly and had time to chat. Here people still respect each other. It's so clean, and the place to retire.
See the stars below.
We would definitely recommend it.
Our first visit to Hondeklip Bay was a wonderful experience. The sea was wild and stormy as expected on the West Coast. The fog that covered the town all day created a special atmosphere. We considered having dinner at the Rooi Spinnekop Restaurant but found the prices exorbitant although I wouldn't know what exactly such a meal included. Although we understand that this is a remote destination and it must be very expensive to bring in supplies we still didn't think it was within our budget - that's why we chose this particular accommodation.
A good stay.
It is basic but clean with adequate facilities. It is ideal for a base to explore the area or as a stopover en route to the Richterveld.
