This stone cottage can accommodate 8 guests and comprises 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The first and second bedrooms each have a queen-size bed, and the third bedroom is furnished with a double bed. The fourth bedroom is a loft area equipped with 2 single beds, and 2 mattresses are also available to use.
The open-plan, well-equipped kitchen contains a fridge-freezer, ice machine, a 2-plate stove, a coffee machine, a toaster, crockery and cutlery, a washing machine and a tumble-dryer, as well as a built-in braai area that can be used as a fireplace on cold winter nights. The adjacent living area also has a dining room table and a couche.
The living area leads out to a spacious undercover patio, which has a built-in braai and an outdoor dining table. The patio offers beautiful views of the unspoiled natural environment and the Groot River that flows to the Gouritz.
Moose Valley is approximately 7000-hectares and is made up of more than 30 individual farms. The scenic valleys, mountains and Gwarrieveld are situated in an unspoiled landscape, nestled between Towerkop, the Swartberg, the Langeberg and the Kamanassie Mountain range.
The Kliphuis will be used at your own risk. Please be aware of wild animals, flash floods, cliffs, steps that may cause injury etc.

The feeling of bliss and the view make it special.
We had a great time looking at the stars, hanging out around the fire, walking and just resting and spending time with each other filled our tanks. It truly is a piece of heaven.
This is one of our favorite places to unwind. Absolutely lovely in every way!
Really enjoyed our visit as we could sit and do nothing all day. There was supposed to be an honesty box to pay for the wood but we couldn’t find one. The only inconvenience was the power situation, we didn’t understand the relationship between the plugs, lights, inverter and Eskom. I think an explanation would be helpful, especially when/if the plugs don’t work and the switches haven’t tripped. Lovely building, with all the appliances you need, and very comfy beds, a delightful place to do nothing!

An amazing destination off the beaten track, also in a literal sense. The place is completely isolated, but has all the luxuries like air-cons, electricity, comfortable beds and is spotless. The place is incredibly peaceful and you can find rest for your soul. The walks in the river bed was a true highlight. The communication and directions from the host was excellent and they were just a phone call away. I highly recommend this place should you require a break from everyday life. The area a safe and cell reception is good.

Lovely, dirt roads on the drive to the house and a thoroughly enjoyable stay in the wilderness. Only a few hours from Cape Town, so a great location for a short stay.
The porch is definitely the "MAIN" thing about the house, most of our time was spent there. Very well planned!
It's nice to arrive at a place and you only have to bring your food and drink because the rest is all there. Clean, tidy, comfortable, practical and private, no surprises! The Kliphuis exceeded our expectations and we will definitely visit again.

I let Jacques know that the hot water isn't sufficient for all the guests and that the dirt road is currently not at all suitable for an ordinary vehicle. We enjoyed The Kliphuis tremendously and were very sad to have to go home! The natural beauty and quietness were truly a fantastic experience. Everything a busy family needed. Medicine for the soul.
The Kliphuis is particularly clean. That's the first thing you realize when you walk in. Everything is well thought out such as the sofas that are on wheels to easily push around and the ice maker. There is also a third bathroom outside with a shower and toilet which has a view over the field. The whole two days we saw no one else. Very nice jog on the farm. Hours spent on the hammock on the porch. Was very nice to hear and see an osprey soaring. Jacques is very helpful and responds quickly when needed.

Haven't had such a comfortable, peaceful getaway in a long time. No roads nearby, no people nearby, no dangers nearby. Children could play and walk around. The house has everything you need to make it comfortable. The owner was personally in touch with us the whole time. Will definitely visit here again and again.
The accommodation was perfect, there is everything and more that a person needs. It is comfortable, clean and modern. The silence is a retreat for the soul and anyone who wants to escape from the city's noise can feel free to try this house. Our eyes were once again opened to the beauty in our country. The goats that came to eat early in the morning were a beautiful sight to watch from the lovely porch. Wouldn't think twice about staying there again!

Me, my husband and friends of ours were there this past weekend. Can only say: Wow! It was an incredible experience. Friendly directions, almost deafening silence, except for the wildlife. A weekend away from the city feels like at least a week. We started our barbecue on Friday night with the call of an osprey, we looked for him until we found him and we woke up to his call on Sunday morning. Will definitely visit there again.

It was an amazing place with beautiful scenery, we had a great time relaxing. One thing I can recommend for future visitors is that a 4x4 is a requirement, without one you will not get to the destination at all. Definitely worth getting there.
We didn't really know how far and where the Stone House was, but it was all worth it. It was the best family weekend ever. The Kliphuis lends itself fantastically to a family. The long porch, the stars with milky way visible at night, the silence. The children played clay and built clay animals which provided hours of entertainment. The sofa that is on wheels is a very clever plan - move/roll it just where you want it. I just think there might be another couch missing to provide more seating.

We had an awesome stay at The Kliphuis this past weekend. This little getaway is situated in the beautiful Moose Valley and is definitely at the top of my list. The view from the cottage when looking down on the river bed is spectacular and even better at night! This is the type of getaway where you can only hear your heart beat in your ears, it's so quiet! We will surely visit again!
We enjoyed it immensely. Since I grew up in the Karoo (Calvinia) I understand the environment and it is absolute refreshment for your soul. To top it all off, we came across a lot of wildlife (red deer, chamois and rockhoppers). The Kliphuis must also be an incredible destination if the dam and river are full of water. I can easily recommend it.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Kliphius, the remoteness of this cottage is a treat in its own. Everything you need is available. A great place to unwind and take in the views.
Must have a 4x2 at least to get there, don't do it at night. But breathtakingly beautiful, house is wonderful and away from people, you are there to relax and that's what you do just relax in the sun on the huge balcony and have coffee and a braai in the orange glow of the sunset.
Me and my family had a wonderful weekend getaway. The exterior of the house is inhospitable but close. It's trendy but still old-fashioned. It is very tasteful and fully equipped. Just bring yourself and your food. Management is professional but friendly.

The Kliphuis to be used at your own risk. Please be aware of the dangers such as snakes, steep cliffs and stairs, floods and other animals.
Please bring your own drinking water. The water for the house is provided from tanks above the house and may be stagnate for some time. Please use sparingly.
The dirt road of about 20 km to the house is adequate for any vehicle. The last 2 km over the dam wall to the house is rough and a high clearance vehicle is recommended. Smaller vehicles will be able to cross but please take caution.
Guests should enquire about the condition of the road, before arrival, as it could be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances.
