The farm is incredibly beautiful. Green, large trees give a peaceful atmosphere. The room is beautifully laid out. Clean and very tidy. We had a very nice stay there. There are the most beautiful dogs on the farm.
Very pleasant host. Unfortunately the website still shows a cafe on the property, which has actually closed, so we were a bit disappointed.

In the photos the place looks a little different. They have old photos on them and the light in the bathroom doesn't work. And the shower water is very cold or burns your skin and it was not a pleasant experience, otherwise it was good.
Look we have used many places to stay and never had any complaints but this place is the worst we have ever experienced. First of all the host is the most unfriendly person I have ever seen, with loadshedding there is no lamp or candle or anything. We came in late at night and had to trudge around in the dark until the man brought a small light. The coffee in the bottle is rock hard. The whole place smelled like cat pee, then I realized it was the blanket. Parking of such a nature that my husband bumped his bakkie. Gas geyser's water is hot for 2 seconds and then ice cold, so we showered with cold water. It felt to me like we were pushed into a hole underneath! No what, pictures were probably taken 20 years ago!
We were a little disappointed that the coffee shop was closed for the Easter weekend. I would have loved been invited in the Historical Farm House. A little booklet to tell us about the farm would have been of value.

Very nice and close to town. Unfortunately poor WiFi reception.
If one worker had not spotted us at the gate, we would have waited a long time to get in, because the call we made was not answered. On arrival at 15:40 the reception was closed and another person called the hostess, who claimed she did not know about our booking. (She never made her appearance either.) The fridge is out of order and the toilet light is not working. The carpet by the mirror cabinet in the bathroom was wet. Fortunately the worn towels were clean and the beds were clean and tidy.
We wanted a very peaceful Christmas and that is what we got. In spite of the wonderful none stop rain, we could not have wished for more! Thanks - simply the best!
The greenery and animals on the farm were beautiful, Claire and staff were very accommodating and made us feel welcome.

Appreciated a venue that caters for single travelers.
To get in, one must first phone them to open the gate. Getting out in the morning is problematic. I phoned the given number about 5 times before it opened. The room was great but the basin's cold water tap needs a new washer and the shower drain is inadequate, as the floor floods. Otherwise I enjoyed my stay.
In addition, every second week there is a show by local artists that guests can attend for free. Delicious bunny chow bought at the show so dinner was sorted. Quiet area and beautiful garden. Would love to book again.

I would not recommend this place when going on a trip. We found a huge spider in our room. There were random animals outside our room and at a certain time our lights just switched off and we couldn't get it back on. We had to work at night and there wasn't even a desk for us to work at and no WiFi was supplied. Will not recommend The Knoll to anyone and most certainly won't go back.
Had a warm welcome, security made me feel comfortable as a single parent. Premises are nice clean and tidy. Room was nice and bedding fresh and warm. Unfortunately the bedside lamps didn't work, as did the bathroom light switch/string lol a bit, you have to pull it a few times before the light turns on.
This is the second time we stayed here and it is unbelievably peaceful. It is close enough to Pietermaritzburg to be close to a city, but far enough away to feel like you are in nature.

We stayed in the Groenekloof 1 Family Room. Lovely, neat and clean accommodation. Perfect for a one night stop over, but not recommended for longer than that as space is limited and there's no lounge.
The Knoll was truly a nice and peaceful getaway home. The accommodation was good and tidy, the surroundings beautiful, the people very friendly and helpful. Just a shame that the farm creates a somewhat sloppy impression.

The cord for the kettle in the upper creamery suite is too short - it makes it difficult to make a simple cup of tea. They haven’t done anything about it since my stay there last year.

On our arrival there we were greeted with a confusion like when guests arrive unexpectedly, which was exactly the case. Apparently our booked and paid for room was already occupied by other guests at that point. A plan was hastily made to provide us with a room, but it was not what I had paid for or was looking forward to.
I tried to phone them, but their phone was off. We stood in the cold before a closed door and couldn't go in. Shockingly bad.
Amazing place for people who just want to break away from daily busy life and especially for honeymoon it is amazing with hidden gardens and picnic area.
My room wasn't ready on arrival so I was upgraded to a bigger better room free of charge. Very friendly staff and great security.
Was lucky to be housed in "Library" unit. Neat, clean and has a wonderful view of the forest and the horse camp. My daughters thoroughly enjoyed the horses.

Located in a very beautiful part of our country, but a little disappointing.
No reservation booked out on my arrival. My accommodation was arranged and paid a week before my arrival. Got booked in to the wrong room. Nikki then booked me in to the right room after a debate. She claims that the rooms are the same but I paid for the most expensive room that has wonderful views and a table where I can do my work. I had to wait for about a half an hour because not one of the two room I was booked into had sheets over the bed. When I finally got in bed that night I was surprised with a terrible smell. It seemed like the sheets that was made up for me was dirty and full of stains and smelled really bad. This guest house will never see me again and I will make a point of it to inform as many people as possible about this horrendous service I received. It's sad, because the property itself and the landscapes are absolutely beautiful. If only the service could have been on the same level.

Surprising countryside with lush green fields and horses washed clean by the rain that greets us with daylight in front of our window. Perfect overnight accommodation. It's a rural atmosphere in the middle of a mad rush of holidaymakers, 2 kilometers away. Very friendly reception. Extreme hospitality.
