The unit is situated on the Admiral Island canal a tributary of the Berg River. Guests have access to a private jetty on site, from which they can launch and explore the river or the Atlantic Ocean, should they wish to bring their boat. Small paddle craft is available on-site to explore the abundant bird life, and fish or just navigate the river and local waterways. Guests can book a sightseeing trip along the Berg River from Step Lightly River Cruises.

To be able to just look out over the Berg River during the day and even at night and enjoy the tranquility and peacefulness was heavenly. Our host and his family were so helpful with information about the town and its residents. I will definitely go there again.

This break was a much needed escape after a very busy and exhausting time. The Liferboat is truly an oasis in the "rat race". The marina with its tranquility on your doorstep rubs off on you and you leave really reluctantly. To the Massyns, thank you for going the extra mile to assist with moving the dates when yet another engagement interfered with our booking. From the reception to the "good bye" we felt welcome and at home. We will definitely visit here again.

Awesome stay and value for money.
While we really enjoyed our short stay and have no complaints, I think the owners should consider updating the decor (eg. curtains, pictures, lamps and remove the carpets and add vinyl flooring). Torn net curtain in kitchen. Mattress on queen size bed is a little soft and dips in the middle when two people are in the bed. Basin in bathroom is very low and small. Seating in kitchen takes up so much space and would not be used when the balcony has seating and a lovely view. Rather add a table in the lounge area and replace the two single beds in that room with sleeper couches. Better security in the parking area?
Is a nice lodge on the river, which makes it idyllically beautiful, bird life exciting. Unfortunately, we could only really use the front porch overlooking the water one day, because the wind blew us apart the first two days. Hospitable owners. We will definitely use Liferboat again.
Facility is very well equipped to be able to relax comfortably. Beautiful view of the canal/river. Owners are very friendly and helpful and have the interests of their guests at heart. Very comfortable and centrally located. We relaxed and enjoyed the break very much.

The place is fantastic on the lagoon but definitely needs attention. It has so much potential.
What got in the way were plastic teaspoons, no barbecue dish, three wine glasses, one of which was cracked, replaced the next day by the owner, and the other a small plastic glass. Not safe parking for car. DStv package no wonder.
Terribly beautiful view. Very neat and comfortable. Nicely laid out. Just didn't feel as private. Unfortunately, there was also a 'nosy' neighbor who dropped us off because we came in late and her dogs were barking.
Liferboat provided us with the basic necessities for a one night stopover on our way to see flowers on the West Coast. Sleeping for two in separate beds, place to relax, advice where to look for more flowers. The people were friendly and helpful. But the furniture and how everything is arranged is a bit old fashioned and strange, but comfortable. And a smell in the apartment.
Beautiful view. Close to attractions. The boat trip on the Breê River was a nice experience.
Als is very quiet, clean and safe. There is only one major problem and that is the master bedroom mattress, it looks like it was replaced years ago.
Roy, the owner was great. The kitchen needs some love. Only three plates (we were four people). Could be cleaner. Nice location. On the river. Host and his wife stay below. We above. Separate entrance and sufficient privacy.

Close to Cape Town. Excellent guest house and location on the waters edge of the Berg River. On the Berg River, ideal for kayaking, canoeing, sailing and all. It's a bird watchers dream. There are plenty of shops nearby. It pure joy as the owners Roy and Belinda were great hosts. They were very friendly and helpful.

Location and accommodation 100%, the kitchen cute, but the kitchen equipment needs some attention. The owners were helpful and friendly. Rested well for 12 nights due to peace and quiet.

I was under the impression that it was 2 bedrooms, but its one bedroom with single beds in the lounge. Was not what I was expecting, so was a little disappointed. As we were 4 adults, this was not ideal but if you were a single couple this would have been a nice place to stay.
I enjoyed my stay at The Liferboat, it was so nice and the owner was very welcoming. The place was clean and tidy and lovely to stay in. Also the view is amazing and the deck is magical.
The location on the Port Owen canal made Liferboat very attractive. The accommodation on the upper floor is private but has access to the canal and the jetty in front. Rory also made his canoe available to us. A wonderful West Coast experience.
