On arrival, guests will be met by 'the crew', the helpful and friendly staff, who will assist with secure off-street parking and show guests to their unit. The accommodation comprises studios, casitas and cabanas all with en-suite showers and toilets. The units are serviced daily in the morning and are equipped with stoves, fridges, microwave ovens, and crockery and cutlery. Linen and bath towels are also provided, and guests are required to bring their own beach towels. The rooms are also equipped with OPVD selected channels and overhead paddle fans, and also have access to private sun decks and braai facilities.
The lodge features a reception, lounge and entertainment area where guests can read, play board games and watch TV. Adjacent to the lounge is the fenced swimming pool complete with loungers. The 'Potjie Boma' is a large thatched lapa with its own braai facilities and pizza oven, ideal for all weather-braai and parties.
The Merry Crab is the ideal getaway for couples, families, and small groups. Activities in the area include horse riding, quad biking, deep-sea fishing excursions and scuba diving in Shelly Beach. The Merry Crab is conveniently located within close proximity to the beach and is just 15 minutes from Port Edward.

15 guests' feedbackVery pleasant and helpful staff. We were surprised with a gift basket as well as a present for our dogs.
Our hosts went out of their way to accommodate us through loadshedding, complete power outages, which resulted in no water. We were refunded 2 nights of our stay which was extremely generous as the above was out of their control. The best part of our stay was the tranquility much needed by two tired people! And our little dog had the time of her life!
The Merry is a wonderful experience. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. I will definitely come back. Thank you Merry Crab.
The owner and staff are friendly and excellent, and we felt very welcome. The games room and pool facilities were great, and our pets loved it. The beach is only a short walk away with easy access.
To get into the Facility is a problem. The buzzer at the gate does not work, then you must phone and the number displayed on the board was off. The Staff that came out to open the gate for us, was not very Friendly or helpfull. To check out was the same, no one to give keys to, so you have to phone the owner even though there was a staff member walking behind us and could see we are on our way out.
The place is located in a good area, the service was excellent but the rooms are not very clean, need more mats and air freshener. Security is very poor, someone tried to open our door around 04:40 hrs. So we were not so pleased with Security.
Very nice stay, unfortunately you can't drive to your accommodation but Edward makes up for it by being available and willing to help carry anything at any time.
Think a bigger fridge is a recommendation.
We had a great stay and would recommend it to people with small dogs.

This is the second time we have stayed at the Merry Crab (or Happy Crab as my daughter calls it). We were once again very happy with the friendly service and the location of the place is fantastic. Just a short walk to the nearest beach. The units were again clean and well equipped. Definitely one of our favorite places.
The location, cleanliness and service of Merry Crab are top notch. It's a beautiful and peaceful lodge and the fact that we could walk to the beach is fantastic. All that was troublesome is that there is no cell phone signal at all at the lodge itself. Furthermore, WiFi would be a huge improvement.
We will without a doubt go back anytime. Elize and her staff make you feel at home immediately. We were treated daily with warmth by all the staff. We enjoyed this stay for the first time in a long time so much that we were still hoping for a cancellation until the last minute so that we could stay longer. No wonder they are fully booked. Their location is fantastic and the surroundings peaceful. Definitely keep them on a favorite link. We are happy to give a 10/10 for their genuine treatment. Elize and Edward were special.
The Merry Crab is a tranquil and beautiful establishment situated by the beach side. The staff are very friendly and always available to assist. We did have a problem during check-in and had to wait an hour before the room was ready. However the customer service we received was excellent and made up for the little hiccup.
