It was delicious. Every moment was a delight and there were no shortcomings. The breakfast was very selective and tasty. The hostess is a lady of stature.

We had a lovely stay in the guest house during the Inter Provincial Schools Hockey tournament. We stayed in the annex and the unit is very neat with a small kitchen and even a nice outside step (covered). During the summer the stoep will be a nice place to sit, but in the winter it is too cold. There is secure parking right in front of the annex. One negative point is the absence of a towel rack or ring at the sink. We had to put the towel on the sink, which tends to get wet. The bathroom is spacious and really has room for a cupboard or shelf above the sink for toiletries. We recommend the unit and guesthouse. The room does not have a sofa as shown in the picture.

My teenagers just wanted to stay another night. We were immediately informed about load shedding and that a generator was available, so it didn't bother us at all. I will definitely come again.

I used Nightingale a few years earlier as well and was disappointed now as our previous experience was so positive. First of all, Bloemfontein and the area performed poorly. Neglect visible. However, the guest house looks very neat from the outside. Had a lovely reception with an "on the ball" receptionist. Room was neat. Blinds couldn't get up and would prefer milk instead of Cremora. Maintenance of wooden window frames required. Guest house has become impersonal in my opinion and again lacks character.
Reception was very friendly. Breakfast very nice. Maybe we should have asked for 2 chairs. Was there early afternoon and we were raw from sitting on the bed.

Very central to all activities in Bloem.
Excellent service and support. The management staff was really awesome. It was a bad time I went through with my husband who had a back operation, but the support of Marga made it easier. There is little consideration regarding refund with family crises. My uncle died and wanted to go to my family, but they couldn't guarantee my refund or give me an IOU. But decided to stay. but I say that I would have decided to go. However, when I wanted to add an extra night, it was no problem. Recommendations; fresh water is not provided in the room every day, should that have been used in the fridge. Ice is also not freely available. Material bath mats would also be more secure, but the managers met me with an extra small towel. But my stay was good and I would go again.
It was a lovely experience after a very long day on the road. The food served was delicious! Room was extremely comfortable and stylish.

If I can be dead honest, I will say that the dinner menu is slightly on the expensive side. Other than that I have no complaints. Great shower and bath facilities. Decent bed and I like the coffee facilities in the rooms.

The guest house: neat, clean, the bathroom of room 3 is very nice and spacious, friendly staff, secure parking behind a closed gate. The environment: unfortunately, close neighbors were partying all night until the early hours of the morning and racing cars as if the street was an F1 track, gunshots were heard, it was very unpleasant. The above caused little sleep.
That is all there is, no more and this should be optional.

Rooms spacious and clean. Excellent breakfast and nice cappuccino to go with it. Beds in both rooms need attention especially in the master bedroom. When you sleep over, the most important things for us are cleanliness, comfort, safety and a quality bed. Our bed was slept in, uncomfortable and completely tilted on the right side. The boys' beds were also not up to expectations. Would appreciate if they could address it and then we will stay there again for sure.

The room allocated to us unfortunately did not smell good, the drain made the bathroom smell even worse, unfortunately will not stay there again as we felt uncomfortable all night.
Marlene who was in charge when we arrived was an absolute delight and couldn't have been more helpful. What we found unacceptable was that the owners do not live on the property and don't even live in Bloemfontein! Also there was nobody left in charge during the night, albeit Marlene said that we could call her any time. If there had been a problem, Marlene, a young girl on her own, it would not have been safe for her to come back in middle of the night.
Place needs attention. Water leak marks on ceiling. Cracks in the walls. Needs a coat of paint, roof too. Outside needs just as much attention, bushes everywhere. Security fence wires are down. So wonder about the security! In short, the short place attention!
Rooms are not soundproof at all. When someone speaks you hear it. Breakfast was very poor. DStv was off.
Stayed in Room 2. Receptionist, Linda, very helpful, but from then on very disappointed in accommodation. Everything in the room was old and shabby. Mattress already laid through on one side. Cold, impersonal room and bathroom. Cracked tiles with debris in between in the bathroom. Cupboards in bathroom stuffed full of old bedding. It's unprofessional. No bath mats. Needs a serious "revamp". Would rather spend more per night and choose other accommodation.
The guest house's rooms are spacious and large, the location of the guest house is also close to the shopping center. The breakfast was also top notch.

A beautiful place of rest in the city.
I had to remind the reception lady several times that I had to leave at 4 in the morning. Bathroom tiles damaged and the shower dirty. Towels have a funny smell. The Red Door restaurant that delivers food was a disappointment. Slapchips were rock hard and the burger smelled funny. Had to throw away food. The breakfast pack provided by the receptionist was a bigger disappointment. It was obvious that they had never made breakfast packs before. The weather was bad and there was no covered parking for our vehicle and we were afraid to collect it. We arrived late and were unaware that we could book dinner with them.
While the location is ideal for business in the city, a business traveller such as myself needs adequate space to work. The only available table in the unit was tiny and could not fit a laptop and mouse comfortably and there was no space for any additional paperwork. Also there was no two pin plug in the room - fortunately I had brought my own to charge devices. There is only one chair and if a person wants to smoke, they must either stand outside in the driveway or carry the only chair outside. Further, there are no lace curtains. If you want privacy, the full curtain must be drawn, day or night. The bathroom has not got one single shelf, table or cabinet, meaning that toiletries have to be put on the bathroom floor. Also, there was a water outage due to a burst pipe, which I know can happen anywhere. I was informed of the outage and then told by the manager to not shower. However, when I later followed up with her about whether the water was back on yet, she asked me rudely if I had tried turning a tap on. She also spent about an hour on the phone in the evening right outside my room chatting to friends, loud enough for me to be able to hear every word. This is after telling me I can tell the guests next door to me to shut up if they make a noise but the most noise was from the manager herself. It was difficult to concentrate on the work I had to complete as well as trying to fit my reference material on the tiny table with my laptop. When I got into bed, there were hard ridges and I checked to see what the problem was - it was the cords within an electric blanket but they were so hard and knobbly I had to sleep on top of the duvet with a sheet only. The hot breakfast menu was great but as a healthy eater, my choice was corn flakes or wheatbix, neither of which are low GI. Some muesli, yoghurt and fruit pieces would be appreciated. All in all, while the basics are functional, the guest house is not suited for business travellers and is subgrade compared to the many guesthouses and bed and breakfast places I have stayed in over the years travelling on business.
We were in room 9, headboard was loose and they use prestick to tick headboard. Bedside lamp no were to plug light in. Shower door did not close so water was running on the floor. It's maintenance problems. The price they change per night was to high for that place.
I was so surprised by the size of the family room. My teenage son is in a wheelchair and he could move around comfortably.
The location of the B&B was awesome for me as I was travelling to the nearby schools. The Nightingale staff were friendly and very polite. The hostess (reception lady) was super friendly and made us feel welcome. I have opted for the Nightingale as my new regular B&B when I go and visit my child at a nearby school. The rooms were clean, linen clean and the breakfast was awesome. Thanks for a lovely short stay in your facilities.

The room we had definitely needs an interior curtain for privacy. A luggage bench and at least one easy chair in the very spacious room will also help a lot to make your stay even more pleasant.
Reception was not available when we had to check in. Standing in front of gate for a long time, and when we finally got in, there was no one at reception to help us. Their towels are very large, thick and heavy, difficult to handle. Furthermore, there are no complaints.
It was very easy to locate, the receptionist was up to scratch and the room was convenient though in the evening there were cars driving by to the back parking space.

The room we got was not well equipped and felt very empty and cold. Problems we had with the place includes getting no milk, there was only a third roll of toilet paper, no toilet spray, the WiFi (which is included in the price) didn’t work, we were supplied with only one towel (even though we booked for two persons), the walls were cracked, the kitchenettes drawers wasn’t well equipped as one would expect (there wasn’t even scissors) and the safe they say is in the room wasn’t there. We felt the price we paid for the night was way above the quality of service we received and we will not return to this place or recommend it to anyone.
I have been looking for an ideal guest house for an overnight stay in Bloemfontein for many years. Luckily I found it! Professional, but you easily feel at home. Nice breakfast, I can recommend it.

I slept there for 2 nights and it was great. Very neat place. Friendly and good service. Wonderful breakfast (maybe they can extend it a bit until 10:00 for late sleepers). Everything nice clean and quiet.
The rooms were very spacious and nicely laid out. The staff are very friendly and were happy to help print out directions for us to a wedding venue. I was really disappointed with the breakfast. I ordered the English breakfast. The mushrooms were awful, basically "wilted". And I only got eggs, bacon and mushrooms. No boerewors, tomatoes etc. even though it was listed on the menu. But I will stay there again.
