Everything was good. Only the price for dinner rose from R150 per head to R200 per head. At least slept well and the place was very neat.
We got a free upgrade so enjoyed a larger room with en-suite bathroom. Extra duvet certainly helped during the cold night. The lack of standby power (e.g. inverter system) did cause some anxiety when trying to work during load-shedding.
Everything was neat and the parking is safe behind a gate.

We usually stay over in Bloemfontein traveling from Nelspruit to Port Alfred. But from now on we will travel the extra distance to stay at the Old Butler.

Beautiful room with a double bed although I asked for single beds. However, we were too sick to enjoy anything. Got there, fell into bed at 3:30 and slept until the next morning. Hostess was friendly.

The Old Butler House was everything it promised to be. Set in beautiful gardens, this beautifully appointed guest house was just perfect for our stopover on our way to PE. Crisp white linen, spotlessly clean, and Riaan’s attention to detail is immaculate. They prepared the most wonderful curry for our dinner. Oh yes, we would come back again.
It was bitterly hot in Cradock (Summer). Our rooms only had fans which didn't really help. We then had to sleep with the door and windows open. No burglar bars or security doors. Of course, this also made noise from dogs and vehicles more audible. Obviously didn't sleep very well.
Didn't have enough time to try the golf course.
Had a good night's sleep, would recommend.

Rihanna and her crew did a fantastic job in creating a small sporting hub. Everything we needed, including an iron, was on hand. Rihanna didn’t object to us completely taking over inside and out- wet clothing all over the garden drying, vehicles en mass on her lawns. If I was to do the Fish Canoe Marathon again, I would definitely stay at the Old Butler House.

The host and hostess were accommodating and friendly and the room was clean and nicely decorated, however there were a few minor niggles in the accessing of plugs for charging and hairdryers, and there was a lack of space to place belongings if staying more than one night. Although I did not have breakfast, I felt that meals, particularly dinner, were overpriced.

One of those places that in my opinion is a little less impressive than it looks on the internet. But the lady in charge got under my skin very quickly - I don't think she does a good job with her personal interaction.
We arrived late and were warmly welcomed and settled into a beautiful rondawel garden room near the pool. It is a glorious room, with all the necessities. We had a delicious meal at the house and really enjoyed our evening there. Highly recommended.
We loved the attention showered on us by the hosts. They ensured we were made to feel welcome at every turn. From the reception, the updates, the map re how to get there, telling us the amount of hours on the road. Our rooms were comfy and beautifully decorated. If we ever go back, this is where we will stay. The beautifully kept gardens, the swimming pool - just everything was on point. Five stars to them.

Upon arrival we knocked on reception. When the door opened, we discovered gold. For the rest of the stay we received myrrh and frankincense in abundance. No request is too much for the owners, and they complied in all our requests. The Old Butler House will be my first, second and third choice of accommodation in Cradock in the future. If fully booked, I will try to change my travel arrangements instead. Thank you very much for a carefree and carefree stay.
An absolutely refreshing stop. The hostess has excelled herself in every way possible and this guest house is exquisite in every sense of the word. Spotlessly clean. Beautifully decorated with much attention to detail but simply gorgeous, fabulously comfortable sleep in fresh crisp white linen. Delicious lamb dinner and scrumptious breakfast prepared, presented and served by the hostess. Very affordable out of this world accommodation. Definitely worthy of a 5 star rating.

The owners made a lot of effort for us. Nice barbecue for us and breakfast was more than expected. If you want to sleep well and just relax, this is the right place.
The morning after I made the booking, I received a phone call to confirm the reservation and ask if there were any special requirement and to ensure all booking details were correct. Upon arrival the warm hospitality received was so welcome. The rooms were neat and clean and met every requirement for our stay. Next trip to PE, this will definitely be our overnight stop.

Old Butler House was the perfect stopover on a long route with small children. We were very warmly welcomed by the owners, and our room choice was quickly adjusted and sorted out to accommodate the children. With a beautiful garden and a nice swimming pool, everyone could relax the afternoon of our arrival and a very nice breakfast the next morning ensured that we were ready for the long road again. We enjoyed our stay at Butler House. Lovely house with country style furniture and character! Riana (and Hubby) were the perfect hosts. She went to a lot of extra trouble to bring each of us extra blankets, candles when the power went out and a tray with fresh rusks and filter coffee the next morning. The room we stayed in had Antique Rose decor and it was very impressive! The linen and towels were fresh and white as snow! That's already 10 out of 10 in my books! There is a fridge in the room and coffee and tea making facilities. I can recommend this B&B. Only 2 rooms at the moment, but they are planning on expanding in the future. Thank you again Riana!
