Guests are centrally located close to a center shop and even close to the University. It is worth your money. The place is beautiful and very neat I will definitely book in again.

Very neat, clean and safe place to sleep. Excellent location close to all highways and shops.
The place is neglected, maintenance is far behind. We stayed in the room called "Bethlehem". The hot tap is loose by the sink. The faucets in the shower are not marked "hot" and "cold". We were 3 people, but there were only 2 towels and 2 coffee mugs in the room. The bedside light has a two-prong plug but no "adapter" for the three-prong wall plug. When I went to reception to inquire about the towel etc, there was no one on duty. I ended up calling the guest house number and the lady on duty answered the phone elsewhere and came to reception and said she patrolled the place. Supposedly this is a three star rated guest house, clearly the place has not been rated for a long time. I will definitely not stay here again.
Guests who stayed together in the guest house noisy, no respect for fellow guests, knocking on doors until 4 in the morning, knocking on doors to ask for condoms, shower taps not working. The area has deteriorated greatly. Site needs a lot of TLC. Will never book there again.
Had a great stay and felt safe.
Couldn't rest assured. Children played hard tennis tournaments and slept badly due to noise from other residents.

Enjoyed our overnight stop. Close to highway. Very pleasant staff. Secure complex. Would go back again.
Bedroom lacked pillowcases and the sink faucet was loose. But helped us quickly. Braai facilities are sufficient and we were able to sleep with our pets.
No control over noise levels. Even after 00:00 which was very selfish.

Rest place is ideally located in a quiet residential area, but also very close to the N1. Hence easy access to all the attractions. Options on accommodation from single room with double bed to family rooms. Also ideal is the self-catering option which keeps accommodation costs low. Will definitely stay with them if I come to Bloemfontein again.

Friendly, honest place. I left my kindle there and got a call by mid day to say it was at reception. We were not informed that the bathroom was really en suite when booking but we did have our own bathroom across the way. They allowed us to leave our trailer there until we were ready to leave Bloem. Very kind!
It was a nice clean room and we had a great stay. Quiet and peaceful, but just too little for the children to do. Would stay there again anytime.
Although I would recommend Rest Place to others we were very disappointed. I mentioned during booking that we needed a wheelchair friendly unit. Upon our arrival, a room with "up stairs" was reserved for us. Rest Place was surprised when we mentioned we had booked a wheelchair friendly unit. Fortunately, they then had another room available for us. They then book us in lg. room (one step to enter room) which was not comfortable at all. We had to move the beds around all the time so my husband could move. If our teenage son hadn't been there with us I would have had a lot of trouble moving the heavy furniture around myself. There was also no chair in the shower that my husband could use to take a shower.

Cold water faucet in my room (Beth El) was working hard, power went off constantly (power trip). Otherwise very nice stay.

We stayed in the King Solomons Suite and it is a beautiful room with a balcony. There is a shower and a spa bathtub in the bathroom. There is only one problem: when I switched on the pump in the bath, there was a bad smell and the bath filled with algae and hair within minutes. I assume the bath isn't used that often en that algae building up cannot be avoided. Maybe a spa bathtub isn't a good choice for a guest house. We informed reception about the problem.
I booked the rooms for a group ladies attending training. They described the rooms as comfortable. However, the lack of an air-conditioner in summer was duly noted. Meals were good. The guest house went out of their way to accommodate my diabetic guests' medication. The staff were friendly and helpful.
We only used the accommodation for a place to sleep. The room was neat and clean, which you expect from a place you pay for. We enjoyed a nice breakfast at Rusplek on Saturday morning (something you can strongly consider). The staff is very friendly. Unfortunately, our neighbors came back very late in the evening and made a lot of noise (I know it's not the guest house's fault).
Room was not up to our expectations, musty smell, ants infested, and water pipes rippling and gulping through the night. I would not recommend Dawid's Hide away (our room's name) but would request a different room next time. Also no outside light in front of entrance and room located right in front of washroom which makes it noisy when staff there work early in the morning. The family room was value for money, but definitely not the double room.
Porches where we had to sit and relax after a long journey were dirty. Certainly not swept or washed in days. Looks like something urinated there and then blew dust. Brown ugly spots. Took pictures. Furthermore, the ashtray was full of cigarette ash and the assistant only threw it into the ash bin after our arrival, where it continued to stink. Dirty knee high pantyhose lay under rattan couch on porch. No. Abominable. Also have photo of it. Extremely disappointing. Dirty porches. Untended gardens. Building materials in sight. Beautiful chickens and bunnies in a cage, but no food or water. No, they never see me again.
First impressions are lasting. Arriving at 16:45 we had to wait a long time in front of the gate. We had to call the office first and then the gate was opened. The person on duty in the office really didn't seem to know exactly what was going on. It was as if he was unprepared and at first we were told we had not booked. Our room really smelled like it had not been opened for days. We immediately opened windows for the musty smell to go out of the room and then it was better. Our room was cleaned very nicely every day and the bedding was clean. Towels were changed every day which was very nice. The room next to us had a pipe burst and the water from next door flowed through to our room (it seems the units are only separated by a door). Luckily our suitcase was not on the carpet, otherwise everything would be wet. The problem was reported to reception who tried to get the water on our carpets to dry. I cannot understand that someone could not think that if the room next door is flooded with a burst pipe that there is also a chance that it could spread to our room. Friends who stayed with us in another unit had a roof leaking in 3 places - it must please. be sorted out. Again, if you have electronic equipment in a unit and are out on business all day, it's a problem when you come back and your laptop is wet with rain. The staff at reception informed us they are aware of the leaks in the unit's roof. Unfortunately, this is not good enough. It is unprofessional to put guests in a room if management is fully aware of a leaking roof. The above mentioned to help Rest Place with problems we had, maybe they can sort it out for future guests.
Booked single facilities with twin beds and pet friendly. On arrival, only facilities with a double bed and not pet friendly were reserved. I had to pay an extra R500 for the facilities and because I have a puppy. If I had the correct information I could definitely have booked somewhere else for a much better price. The room and facilities are neat and clean, but there were an awful lot of small ants that came out everywhere.
It was spacious and clean.
Ons het baie tuis en welkom gevoel. Ons kamer was skoon en pragtig. Ons het rustig en stil geslaap. Nog nooit so lekker op 'n vreemde plek geslaap nie! Great!
After a long drive from the Cape it was wonderful to get some proper rest before we hit the road again.
As mentioned above, bathroom not user friendly. Short shelf or box to put your things on.
We were able to bring our Dachshund, always beter to travel with your fury friends. Spacious, clean room. Perfect for overnight stay on the way to the Cape.
Enough space for the children to stretch their legs after all the sitting in the car. Neat and everything we needed. Reception friendly and very helpful. A good price is the icing on the cake! Would definitely recommend!

Reception could have been friendlier. The room was very neat. The bathroom was just very dark at night. Better lighting would be great. The shelf on top of the basin is also very low. You hit your head when bending over the basin. Maybe the shelf could be moved. The walls between units are very thin. Would like not to know what my neighbours are up to! Apart from that I really can't complain. Definitely value for money and I can recommend Rusplek any time.
Excellent overnight stay. The only negative experience was the owner's remark regarding the room that might have a problem (and it wasn't really faulty) and that we can choose 2 different rooms (for 3 people) at an extra cost. That's not how a business should operate.
They helped us very quickly because we urgently needed a place to stay for the evening, and the service and experience was great.

This was a good place for a stopover en route to Cape Town.
It's probably the 4th time we've slept here. Each time the place deteriorates more for me. Our room's double bed's mattress is completely worn out and the bed creaks unbearably. We didn't sleep at all. The bathroom is hopelessly too small and impractical with the small sink and shelf sitting so low. You don't get to the sink at all. There are also no extra blankets. It had not been a pleasant night for us. We still had to drive far the next day and were dead tired.
Would just suggest they get aircon, wasn't comfortable sleeping in the heat.
The bathroom was not attached to the room. Across the hall. Not informed about it during booking. Also not mentioned on advertisement on internet. It's also so small.
I was happily surprised with this exceptional place. The gardens were well looked after, all arrangements we made were met and I have to mention the fantastic breakfast I could enjoy. We got a room in the main house at first, but upon request they moved us to a place on the ground floor with its own braai. After you spent the most of the day in the car, it was nice to sit and relax in the well-kept gardens and braai. Definitely recommended.
Traveled with a baby and pet, there was even a camping cot available in the room which made it so much easier.

Just a pitty we couldn't get any rest. Inebriated guests checked in from 24:00 to 04:00 and trashed the place. Cars rev'ed and banging on the doors. Initially I thought they were fighting. No security guard in sight. Tried to contact reception. Notified management and they promised to follow up.
The guest house is extremely well located. Very close to the university and hospitals. There is also a good restaurant not too far from there. The staff is friendly and everything is clean and tidy.
I had booked this place for my 2 teenage daughters over a weekend. The one was visiting the sister in Bloemfontein. The venue kept me posted about the readiness and were checking on their arrival time. Checking in was smooth. The teenagers enjoyed the stay and felt very safe even if they were on their own. The staff was very friendly with them. They have asked that I book them here if they need accommodation in Bloemfontein again. Thank you very much!
Generally satisfied. A bigger variety of teas and coffees are advisable. There were only Ricoffy, 1 Five Roses tea bag, 1 Rooibos tea bag, some creamer and a few sachets of sugar. Long life milk and sweetener would also be nice.
We were in the Shalom room. The place could benefit from renovation, a bit tired. The bed closest to the bathroom creaks a lot.
We booked 2 nights. The accommodation was comfortable and fully private. Unfortunately the second night was unpleasant as there was some function and the men were loud. As women, we felt quite uncomfortable. The light in our room didn't work and it wasn't fixed when we reported it. The staff at reception, however, was very friendly.
The ceiling fan in the unit made a lot of noise - it was hot and I realised we couldn't sleep without a fan, but we would also not be able to sleep with such a noisy fan on the whole night. I went to ask reception for a standing fan for the evening - the lady gave me a small plastic fan (20 cm in diameter). The effectiveness of the fan was zero, you could only feel the wind 20 cm far! I will not recommend this place during the summer months.
We were first seated in a small remote room. I asked if they didn't have another room and we were transferred to a lovely place. The people at the reception were very friendly and in the end we had a very nice stay.
Rooms not very soundproof. Smokers should be requested not to smoke near rooms. Still unpleasant for people in the rooms!
Empty promises for booking earlier to prepare for a wedding. Not even dirty towels removed from previous guests and no toilet paper provided. No hot water was available. Staff neglected exterior work so gates rattled and creaked all night.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone! We only stayed one night, but this is the guest house with the friendliest people! Very neat and beautiful rooms! They should definitely be listed as a 5 star guest house because they deserve it for sure! Will definitely stay there again!

It is a very nice guest house and well located, within walking distance of a Spar and other shops. We were well received and could also have breakfast there. Will definitely stay there again.
We didn't arrive until 1:00 and were still warmly welcomed. The accommodation is neat and very comfortable. Thank you very much. I can definitely recommend the Rest Place Guest House to anyone. It's a very convenient oasis, especially if you've traveled a long way from Knysna and only stopped by the Kango Caves in Oudtshoorn.

Very nice close to the N1. The fact that there was no fridge in the room was problematic. If you are on the road for a few days and traveling with small children, a fridge is a necessity. The resort is conveniently close to the main routes and easy to get to. The resort is very neat, comfortable and well maintained. We really enjoyed our short stay and would definitely recommend it.
The large garden creates a nice atmosphere. The pools need attention. The hot tub, fridge and stoves were a plus.
I only slept there so cannot comment on other facilities. It suited my cause.
Reception staff were efficient for the most part and catering (breakfast) staff were extremely friendly while at the same time courteous. The issues I had were with the general cleanliness of the room: thick dust on top of the ceiling fan prevented me from using it, although I would dearly have liked to, and the decor on the walls had been left to go scruffy. Security was fine, and very much in the hands of the guests, with remote gate controls for access and egress from the gated compound, albeit monitored by CCTV at reception. Guests were a mixture of transient holiday-makers, visiting business people and long-term residents. Food at breakfast was very good and plentiful, allowing one to "fill up" for the day.

We only stayed here one night. The room is reasonably priced so it's good value for money. However, the place looks rather run down. The room (for 3 guests) was quite cramped and the finish (especially the ceiling) leaves much to be desired. Soundproofing is poor - you hear everything that happens elsewhere in the building (and especially in the reception). The place generally just looks run down. The beds and bed linen were excellent. Everything was pretty clean.
We had a good stay, my only recommendation is about the breakfast. I don't think it was well planned, we didn't get any fruit and for the price paid I don't think it was worth it.

Neat and clean. We booked 2 units together and then the whole booking just got messed up. The photos of the accommodation where I thought we were staying were not the case at all. Nevertheless, it was a neat place, but the internet pictures are misleading.
There had been fleas in the bed. The sink was cracked all the way through. The ceiling is not painted and has water stains on it. The toilet hisses and hisses all night long. The taps' washers should have been replaced a year ago. The room is also terribly small. At least the water was deliciously warm to bathe in, but no thanks - never again.
Awful, no air conditioning. Dirty. Grilled to touch something. definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone driving a long way. Beds very uncomfortable, showering in bath is not pleasant at all, feels like you are going to step through the bath. We simply left the place at 04:00 in the morning because no one could sleep there. Hear everything that's going on next to you. Thanks, but no thanks
We would recommend The Resting Place Guesthouse. The whole guest house and garden are tidy, very safe.

The management was helpful and the service was prompt. I had a wonderful stay. The guesthouse is close to everything we needed.
We were pleasantly surprised and had a great stay. The facilities were very clean and the service excellent!
We were a family of seven adults and one child who stayed here overnight. Their service is prompt and friendly and the rooms were well equipped. All that bothered me a bit was the 'extractor fan' in the bathroom which could not be switched off separately, so it was cold when you got out of the shower and mats in the bathroom would have helped a lot against the cold floor. Furthermore, everything was very pleasant and we would definitely recommend the guest house.
Have visited quite a few guest houses in Bloemforntein and this will now be the guest house of choice. Thank you very much for the pleasant stay.

Great stay. Well equipped. Only points of criticism are that the bathroom sink is very small, the pool was not very clear, and that the duster is missing two knobs. But these are minor things and do not take anything away from the stay.

We had a nice stay. The place is a bit tight with 2 teenagers, but in our case we were out all day. We only slept there, so everything was perfect. The braai area allows one to live outside, which is very nice. There is little cupboard space, especially with a view to self-catering (no cupboard for food etc.), but overall it was very positive, and we will stay there again!

We used the phone's GPS and finally got to the place.
There isn't much I can mention because I was so disappointed when there was no power that I didn't sleep at all and I was dead tired the next morning. I might as well have driven through and avoided the place. We spent the night there that night and at 10:00 pm the power went out until the morning when we had to drive. I could only locate 1 short candle for light, which didn't help much. We couldn't heat food, or bathe. The fridge defrosted and our food was spoiled. None of the contact numbers answered. It was a terrible night because it was hot and if you open the windows and doors, the mosquitoes eat you up.

We don't know Bloemfontein. As a result, we were not aware of the street names that had changed. The exit from the N1 is still indicated under the old name. We struggled to find the guest house on the mobile as well as the landline for directions, and the people we asked along the way could not help us.
There is too little sleeping space. Only a double bed for 3 people connected with a room that needs serious renovation and no towels. All of the aforementioned led to an unpleasant experience.
The rooms were wrongly booked. The bill was also wrong. It is not very clean, but at least the reception was friendly.

1. Booked a room with two single beds and on arrival heard it was a double bed. Moves were then made, thank you very much. 2. The bathroom is then not in the room, but across the hall. 3. The window of the room could do with a wash. 4. The room door's locks are very old and hard to close. 5. Linen was very clean, thank you very much.
Accommodation is value for money. That's what you need when you know you just want to sleep and then you're going to be gone.
The room was clean and the bedding too. The bathroom could be improved (as there is an opening between the wall and window to the room area). The toilet roll holder is installed in an awkward location. The parking area is good and I felt my car was parked safely.
We slept in a large room that could easily fit three people. It's neat, spacious and just what we needed for two nights. Thank you!
Even though we let the establishment know in advance that we would be arriving late, we were told that we should just phone again when we arrive. We tried, but there was no one there to let us into the gate. I think one of the guests eventually opened the gate for us. There was no answer on any of the numbers advertised. So my main issue with this was: do not say 27/7 reception available, if you do not provide it!!

Very neat and good value for money. Nice close to everything.
The location is very good and peaceful. Future guests should note that parking is a challenge for those driving bakkies or with trailers.
The bedding is clean, the unit needs a lot of TLC, especially the bathroom. Other units may be different, price-wise you can't expect otherwise.
Not great. A number of things were wrong and the general attitude was too casual. The directions we received were incorrect. The unit was cramped and needs a coat of paint. The fridge was noisy and the bright lights outside shining between the curtains kept the kids awake.
Wonderful guesthouse. Great value for money, beautiful gardens and wonderful service. Will certainly be back.
Our one night stay at The Resting Place was just what we needed after a 10 hour trip - a good shower and a comfortable bed after a welcome reference to a good restaurant. Keep it up!
