The River House offers self-catering accommodation in a rustic, timber home on the Great Olifants River, a 1.5-hour drive from Pretoria and Johannesburg. The house enjoys exceptionally large river frontage and -access, as well as a private relaxation area. Here, guests can enjoy fishing for black bass and yellow fish, as well as the ordinary fish like carp or barbel, or swimming, canoeing and tubing in the river.

The house comprises 2 double bedrooms with a queen-sized and double bed, a very spacious loft bedroom that can accommodate up to 6 children, 2 bathrooms featuring a bath and 2 showers, a comfortable living area containing a TV (please bring your own decoder and smart card), a dining area, and a kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with a double-door fridge, an oven and hob, microwave, toaster, toasted sandwich maker, tea- and coffee-making facilities as well as all crockery and utensils you may need. The living area leads out onto a scenic deck and an outdoor entertainment area with braai facilities under a canopy of indigenous trees. There is a lovely boma area.

The Olifants River Valley is surrounded by mountains and activities such as hiking on the Cycad Hiking Trail, bird watching, mountain biking, and 4x4 trails can be enjoyed in close proximity. The well-known Cycad Hiking Trail is an exceptional hiking experience over the mountains and through the bush, offering breathtaking scenery as well as a chance to view the Cycads.
There is a nature reserve close by that offers game drives, mountain biking routes and hiking routes (at a fee). There is also a lodge down the road from The River House that our guests can visit as day visitors at a fee if the lodge is able to host over the time of your visit and they have restaurants and pubs, heated indoor and outdoor pools, water slides, kids' play areas, mini cricket, pool, table tennis, big chess, paddleboating and more.
