The cottage sleeps 2 adults. Two small children can possibly be accommodated in the public sitting room. The kitchen is equipped with tea- and coffee-making facilities, a large fridge, gas plates, a 2-plate stove with a mini oven, a microwave, a toaster, iron and an ironing board. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower and toilet with a gas geyser that always ensures hot water. Bedding, bath towels, dishcloths and cleaning materials are provided. There is also a fireplace, fan and a dining area. At the front of the cottage is a private braai area and a washing line at the back.
Guests have access to WiFi, secure parking, an alarm system and response. There is solar power at the cottage which may be utilised in case of load-shedding. The smart TV has OVHD channels and guests can log into their own DStv or Netflix. YouTube is also available.
Activities in the area include swimming, hiking trails, horse riding, surfing, scuba diving, whale watching, fishing, canoeing, shark cage diving, wine tasting, hiking and much more. SANSA (South African National Space Agency) is within walking distance from The Rock.
The walking trails start 200 m from the cottage and the area is quiet, peaceful, and safe. Swimming beaches can be found within 7 km to both sides, but there are a few smaller beaches, rock pools and a rock swimming pool.

Anchen was very helpful and the place is pretty neat.
The Rock Self Care exceeded all our expectations. Bonus was the fact that the unit had solar power when load shedding. We will definitely use the unit again.
The Rock Selfsorg is perfectly clean and convenient and located in a beautiful suburb of Hermanus, just a short walk from the scenic cliff trail. We were welcomed with friendliness.
Access to main gate is problem: large, low tree that damaged our vehicle.
The host was very friendly. Her service is excellent. The accommodation is very safe and secure and that's what we wanted with the kids.

Anschen is a woman so close to my heart. She made us feel at home even before she met us. She has such a warm heart towards people and her service is proof of that. If I could I would give The Rock more than 100%. We really had a great weekend, thank you very much Anschen, you are a star.
I only stayed for two days - had a few medical procedures at the Hermanus MediClinic and The Rock was perfect in location and comfort - it had everything I needed and Anschen communicated very well. I would definitely recommend staying at The Rock. Minor detail - there was a slight musty smell but this is to be expected for seaside cottages.
I would recommend this place to anyone its just perfect we really did have a lovely stay its definitely value for money private and very safe.

Wow wat 'n lekker rustige plekkie. Baie dankie aan Anschen wat ons so mooi ontvang het en ons sommer welkom laat voel het. Ons het dit baie baie geniet, jou vriendelikheid, die atmosfeer die rustigheid en dan ook nog naby die see. Ons sal definitief weer kom.
The Rock, nice and quiet. More than enough space for two people.
This was really an awesome experience, we slept there for one night. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Rock. The kindness and hospitality of our hostess is really remarkable leaving you with a warm feeling in your heart. We are going back.
We can recommend this self-catering cottage if you are tired and feel like life is running away with you. The owner went out of her way to make me and my husband enjoy the few days. Even though it is just a self-catering unit, it felt like we were staying in a guest house. The place is clean and well hidden from the everyday noise, bedding is changed regularly. Our car was safely behind closed gates and the rock roads are close by. We were able to walk and admire the coastal area. You can smell the sea and hear it even if you don't see it. I can recommend the place for long term or short term and will definitely come again! What a hidden gem.
We will definitely visit again soon.

We had a great stay. The Rock was ideal for the two of us to use as a home base to explore the rest of the Overberg. Our hostess was very friendly and went out of her way to make us feel at home. We will definitely recommend The Rock, it was perfect for us and value for money.
Clean, tidy place. Would recommend for weekend. The place is really not very big and after three weeks I felt very cramped. Close to sea and walking distance from town.
We had a great time and barbecued. Was very grateful that our dog could go with us. He is now part of the family. It is centrally located and I can definitely recommend it.
Thank you very much for a nice place to stay that was private, but also close to everything. The house was clean and tidy with a small fenced garden for the dogs and for barbecuing. The walking path is only a few minutes and Goering point about a 1.6 km walk. An ideal place to stay for 3 people who want peace and quiet, but also want to be close to shops and attractions. Thank you for allowing us to bring the dogs. We had a very nice stay.
The only thing bothering us was the fact that you have to park your car outside on the sidewalk. The alarm tone when you switch it on and off is too quiet - a light at the front of the house would help. We never met the owner personally, something I would have liked.
