Velddrif is a busy fishing village located at the mouth of the Berg River. It is quite normal to see fishing boats filled with mackerel, pilchards, anchovies and rock lobsters sailing up the river. As Velddrif lies just 2 km away from the Berg River, which washes out into the nearby St Helena Bay, the village is renowned for its water sports namely surfing, swimming, and boating. Fishing is also a popular pastime here and lures many avid anglers who really revel in fishing in these tranquil surroundings.

Lovely place, everything you need to just switch off. The sea view is breathtaking, you sleep like a rock with the sound of the sea in your ears. A sundowner and braai on the stoep or a cocktail and very good food at the Zeesicht restaurant. The host made us feel so at home, was friendly and helpful, and was always around if you needed anything. Thank you for a very nice holiday!

Two things bothered. The outdoor grill's light did not work. The wild pigeons' droppings fell through the stoep's roof onto the stoep and also the outside table. Otherwise it was a good experience. R1500 per night is a bit tight for off-season rates.

We had a very nice stay there. The "backpacker" rooms are just a bed/beds and a bathroom. This is not self-care. There is no bar fridge or microwave. Very neat and clean and we received a friendly welcome. The restaurant is nice and cozy, but they do not deviate from their menu with special requests. For example, they don't make an omelet.
I enjoyed every minute of my stay. The chalet was clean and the view spectacular. The restaurant cooks amazing meals. The food was delicious. It would be great if the owner enclosed the villa/complex for even better security for guests and their vehicles.
My stay was great, I loved the place, the privacy and the view. The only issue I had was with the pool. We booked for the pool; however, it was green the entire weekend. The owners did try to clean it, but were unsuccessful, and we were unable to use the pool for the weekend. Other than that, 9/10 for the place. There is also a restaurant on the property, which is nice.

The apartment was very comfortable, neat and clean and with a beautiful view, right on the beach. You hear the waves breaking when you stand on the porch, it's wonderful. Beautiful to watch the seabirds in the late afternoon and early morning. Easy to get to the beach for a walk. The reception was very helpful and friendly. It's also very convenient with the restaurant right below the apartments. We ate very nice pizza there, but they also have other food.
Customer service excellent, I myself was able to book earlier due to a work event, everything was extremely beautiful, clean, attention to detail, even chocolates on the pillows. Beautiful view, outdoor barbecue, incredible view, good WiFi, great beds.

Every angle in the Villa has a perfect ocean view. We had our Christmas lunch on the balcony with a breathtaking ocean view. Sunsets took my breath away and I did not even have to leave my room. The Villa has everything you need. Very neat and clean. Very friendly services.

Sunset Villas is perfectly located if you want to go for a quick walk on the beach in the early morning or late afternoon. It's literally a few steps from your villa to the beach. The villas are well equipped and there is enough space to barbecue and invite a few friends or family over. It was wonderful to be able to fall asleep with the roar of the waves in your ears. You can't get any closer to the sea at Laaiplek.

The location is fantastic, it's wonderfully quiet with only the sea and beach just below. The veranda has an indoor braai and a beautiful sea view. Very well equipped with everything you need. Bedding, towels, pillows - everything perfect. I would definitely recommend it.

We had a great stay and will use Sunset Villas again. We are just very unhappy about the fact that we booked Villa 3, which was confirmed by Lenie after I asked twice. On arrival we first struggled to get hold of Lenie but understood it was due to loadshedding but when we mentioned we were in Villa 3 then Lenie informed us that number 3 was booked out but we had to go and check and choose between 4 and 5 and she didn't walk along to show us and even less tell us about the pool. We had just booked Villa 3 for the big veranda to hold my Grandmother's 90th surprise party and had to rent another house for the occasion at the last minute!
Will definitely go back again in the summer. Sea, swimming pool, barbecue, visiting and chatting.
Not at all far from other places like Langebaan and Vredenburg. There is enough to keep you busy.

The sunset is an experience. The weather was fantastic. The location is perfect.
The apartment was well-stocked and all appliances worked. The only issues were the broken extractor fan in the one bathroom and the very noisy, inconsiderate neighbours who partied loudly into the early morning hours. All in all a pleasant stay though.
The unit itself is neat, clean and well maintained, with a very nice sea view. The apartment block is just in the wrong area. There is no fence around the block of flats, and any person can get to the vehicles.

Well you can't do much better when it comes to self care. Monica is such a friendly person who makes you feel right at home. Right next to the beach you can hear the waves right through the night from your bedroom overlooking the Atlantic ocean. The accommodation is very neat and clean and very well equipped with an eye for detail, you really don't need to bring much, just food. The apartments are each nicely decorated and with balconies and shade overlooking the beach. To eat, Laaiplek is full of small places, my group and I really enjoyed the breakfast at Laaiplek Hotel, also a place with a nice view of the Bergrivier and its many birdlife and also walking distance from Sunset. Well done Monica and co, all the best!

We really enjoyed our time at Sunset Villas. The barbecue on the balcony is wonderful. Lovely to sit there with a glass of wine and admire the sunset. My husband was very happy about the DStv! All we lacked was a nice couch (instead of single chairs) and a salad bowl. Otherwise it was great there!

We were pleasantly surprised with the beautiful apartment and the view over the sea and the remains of the old jetty of Laaiplek. Apartment is neat and very nicely furnished. All the facilities were nice and clean, as was the pool. Space a bit small around the pool but still comfortable. We rested well.
We received a friendly welcome on arrival. The unit was tastefully decorated with stunning sea views and gave a feel of being very private and one could just sit on the veranda relax and gaze into the sea. The only down side is the stairs if staying in the above units especially to carry goods up and down. We thoroughly enjoyed our few days at Sunset Villas. Will definitely recommend this accommodation.
I would recommend the villas for weekends and holidays, but due to the poor/no reception of WiFi it is not suitable for business. Nowhere could I locate the house rules on the website, with the result that I was not aware that all visitors must be gone by 11pm. I had to find out via a message on my phone at 20:56 from the lady on duty. If there are house rules then they must be indicated on the website so that one can make an informed decision when booking. A decision that suits your needs.

The Sunset Villas' units are very neat and clean with an incredibly beautiful view. Unfortunately, there is no secure parking for your car or trailer. Anyone from outside has access to parking area. Very noisy on Christmas Day as the beach is a public beach, and all the rubbish (papers and bottles) is then left behind on the pavement and beach. Very nice building just in a bad area.
Really enjoyed my stay here at Sunset Villas. Views were breath taking and the apartments that we booked out were fully equipped. Great value for money as it was in a great location. Was very impressed as owner took the liberty to place our family next to each other as we had two apartments booked out that weren't next door from one another. Can't wait to return to this beautiful part of the West Coast.

We had a wonderful Easter weekend at Sunset Villas. It was very neat. We were 5 adults with a 2 year old and we all appreciated the 180 degree sea view while we had a braai on the porch! Will definitely be back!
