5 guests' feedbackThe Trout Pod was lovely. Super location, nice accommodations, well appointed.
The Trout Pod is a fantastic hidden gem deep in the Groot Winterhoek mountains. The location is perfect to get away from all the noise, and when you're sitting on the deck, it seems like there is no one for miles around. The pod itself is modern, well-furnished, and very comfortable. All necessary amenities are provided, and the pod is well-maintained. The views from the deck over the river below are great, and you can just sit back and listen to the water while staring at the mountains across from you. The river provides good fly-fishing and a unique opportunity to catch brown trout on dry fly, which is not common in the Cape. The only advice I would give to anyone is to make sure you bring everything you need in terms of groceries; there is no quick outing to the shops, which are 40 minutes away in Prince Alfred Hamlet.
The Trout Pod is a phenomenal accommodation if you want to get away from it all. It is extremely well equipped and has everything you need. The setting is amazing with generous views of the mountain and Olifants River.
Stunning location and great facilities. We do think that the house needs some attention and maybe another paint brush here and there. Sink faucet in the bathroom is broken, both toilets are loose from the wall, towel hooks pulled out of the wall and would suggest that dry Bloekom wood might be considered for the hot tub! Personally, I would also like a bigger braai area, but the current one is functional - wood was just very wet!
The place is beautifully situated on the banks of the Olifants River. It is totally "off the grid", so one can relax wonderfully. Lovely walks down to the river and in the surrounding area.
