The host is the nicest, friendliest, and most accommodating lady ever! The rooms are beautiful, and the view over Albert Falls Dam is amazing. The braai area and kitchen area for guests to use are a huge bonus. We loved staying here and will be going back regularly. Thanks, Jennifer. You rock.
Very frequently and lovely people, and the bonus is all the wildlife that's around the area. The dam is beautiful, but we did not catch any fish, sadly. All in all, we had a lovely weekend. Thank you.
It is a basic but very cute cottage. Everything was really clean. The mattress was super comfy. Hostess went out of her way to assist where she could. The view from the dam is amazing.
We were received very hospitably. The view is breathtaking, the tranquility healthy for the soul.
This is the perfect getaway for any carefree people who wouldn't mind enjoying basic, peaceful accommodation. The wildlife is tame I come all the way home. Best of all, it's pet-friendly. We had a really nice time and didn't have to worry about kids walking alone.
The View has an epic view of Albert Falls Dam, and you have direct access to the Msini reserve (i.e., the Dam) through the bottom of the property. The property has wild animals such as buck, zebra, and giraffes. We did not realize that the accommodation is built onto the main house where Jen stays. Just note that the accommodation is not private, which was not clear when we made the booking. The accommodation sleeps a lot of people (if you book out the house and the cottage), which is attractive and difficult to find in the area. The cottage is about a 150m walk up the road from the main house. The accommodation is not luxurious but very comfortable and is a farm-style stay. The price was very affordable. The accommodation is value-for-money, and Jen is a great host! She assisted with Ice, Wood, and Shuttle service, etc. The place was clean and had all the basic amenities, and we had great help from the domestic helpers. The security is not great as some of the rooms did not have locks. Jen, I would suggest you update the photos on Lekker Slaap which are more recent pics.
The unit is simple, yet neat. Unfortunately, the master bedroom is very small with little space for a recitas. Bats were nesting in the roof of the unit (with the owner's knowledge) and it was impossible to close an eye the first night with the scrambling overhead. Provision was also made for only 3 guests with some of the crockery, although we had booked for 4 people. After inquiring beforehand, we were under the impression that there was WiFi reception at the cottage, but it is only available in the host's house about 300m away. My husband therefore had to go to work at their house during the day, and therefore it feels as if one is intruding on their privacy if one wants to use it. The pool is built against the host's porch, so the same problem. The view of the pond is very beautiful from the unit and only a short walk away. Just watch out for ticks! Unfortunately, the outside area in front of the unit has no patio roof, so one cannot really sit outside during the day and enjoy the surroundings. The hosts really went out of their way to correct some of the above after we brought it to their attention, but the stench of the dying bats in the hot sun, the day after they came to spray poison, was unbearable. We were happy to leave although we initially wanted to stay longer. The hosts let us check out later than their departure time for free and I would like to believe that the next guests will have a better experience than us since the mistakes have been corrected.
The view itself was beautiful. The cottage aside was okay. If you like rats and frogs in the room. Had no storage space and the hot water was a problem in the kitchen. Animals outside were beautiful. Very quiet otherwise.

No smoking, drinking, or eating around or on the snooker table is permitted.
Children or anyone unable to swim may only use the swimming pool under strict supervision.
Please do not harm, approach, or feed the animals.
Guests may invite day visitors to join them on-site from 9 am, but visitors must leave by 6 pm.
A reasonable noise level must be maintained and must not disturb the neighbors at any time. No music or excessive noise is allowed after midnight.
Self-catering rooms will only be serviced from Monday to Friday.
The geysers operate on gas; water is pumped from a Jojo water reservoir via a pressure pump through the gas geyser, and this all requires power. As we are completely off-grid, we ask our guests to be mindful of leaving lights on unnecessarily. If the batteries run too low, the pressure pump will not work, and the water will not run.
Guests are requested not to tamper with the pressure pump or gas geysers. The owner must be contacted if there are any issues.
Guests are asked to use water sparingly, as running the Jojo dry may result in damage to the pressure pump. If you are concerned that the Jojo is running lower than half, please contact the owner.
No smoking is allowed in the rooms.
If anything is broken or damaged by a guest or their visitors, accidentally or otherwise, guests are asked to be courteous and report it. Major damage or breakages may result in the replacement value being charged to the guest's account.
Unauthorized additional guests will be required to pay the full rate per night plus an additional penalty.
Any item left unattended, within reach, or lying on the ground may be destroyed by our dogs. Looking after every item is the guest's responsibility, and the owner does not accept responsibility for any damage that may be caused.
Under absolutely no circumstances may a guest feed anything to our dogs. Should this occur and result in veterinary treatment being necessary, the full cost of such treatment will be claimed from the guest. We love our dogs, and our one cat, and they must be respected.
Music must be played at an acceptable volume and switched off by midnight. Should there be more than one group of guests staying at The View, we expect all our guests to behave and interact in a friendly and respectful manner. Failure to do so may result in further action being taken.

The View comprises 3 individual en-suite rooms each accommodating 2 persons. Each suite has a private door from the veranda and offers guests a stunning view. For families of 4, we recommend combining rooms 2 and 3, which connect via a Jack & Jill bathroom, to create a family unit. All rooms have fans, mosquito gadgets, beverage station and fresh water. We provide fuests with linen, towels and shower soap and we cater for our Baby Guests too since they also deserve the full treatment incl a comfy travel cot with mosquito net.
Guests at The View have 24/7 access to Wi-Fi and the shared indoor entertainment area with a dartboard, full-size snooker table, small library and lounge area with DStv. The shared kitchen has two fridge-freezers, full gas stove/oven, microwave, toaster, crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils, Nespresso and filter coffee machines (pls bring your own pods/coffee grounds) smoothie maker and upright blender. Built-in gas and wood braais in the undercover patio is perfect in all weather. Pack a swimming costume and enjoy a sundowner around the pool or simply sit and soak up the morning sun or nighttime peace and quiet on your patio.
Being on a working farm, guests will see a variety of animals, insects, birds, bats, swallows, and barn owls, which frequently nest or roost under the roof. We prefer not to evict these roof dwellers as they are part of our establishment and immensely beneficial to our environment. However, we make every effort to naturally minimize their presence near our guests
A non-fenced swimming pool is available to The View's Guests, but everybody under the age of 12 or who are non-swimmers must be accompanied and strictly supervised by an adult who can swim. The snooker table is great entertainment but has an age restriction of 16 years.
