The View is the most beautiful house with the most beautiful view. A place where you can truly relax. Michelle, the hostess, was always available to help. We really enjoyed visiting here.

Fantastic view and excellent venue. Friendly and helpful host. Would go again. Rated 5* but actually 4.5 as interior needs facelift (couch) and white towels and vanity kits would put it in the category of other 5* places I have stayed in. Having said that, it's an extremely special place that was a privilege to stay in! Would recommend not coming with a low slung car to achieve the best the resort has to offer and bring mountain bikes if possible. We did manage with our sedan to get to the house easily enough. I hope to be back one day. A special place. Don't hesitate booking.
Easy to find with excellent instructions. Just a quiet jewel in nature, with a stunning view. Very nice and helpful owner. We will definitely visit again!
A memorable weekend with family. We had multiple animals visit us at the chalet, the pool was a lifesaver. The view was incredible and took the pressure off to have to go on a drive to enjoy the bushveld. The air conditioners in the two bottom rooms were great as we had a very hot weekend. There are roof fans as well. Load shedding wasn't too bad (Elandsfontein 16, Bela-Bela), and they have a little kettle available and some battery lights.
We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at The View! It has all the facilities you need in an amazing location with a fantastic view. It was a pleasure to deal with Michelle and Shadé. A ++.
Fantasies, very nice.
Was a lovely stay, beautiful view, the short gravel section was a bit of a challenge with non-4x4 low cars. It needs a bit of work to flatten. Otherwise, we really enjoyed the venue, and the splash pool was an added bonus. The daily cleaner and the braai cleaner were the friendliest of staff and very efficient and helpful. Just a pity about the Eskom power problem over and above load shedding, an area fault not the site.

Lovely place, perfect for a quiet weekend.
Thoroughly worth it. Unbeatable view. Tastefully furnished. Bath with a view is a winner. Everything you need is there. Enough spaces for everyone's needs. Exciting to observe variety of animals and birds from so close. We even braved the outdoor shower and the sparkling plunge pool in the middle of winter. We are telling everyone about your gem in the bush and will be back for sure.
It's a beautiful unit with a very nice view of the dam. You can clearly hear the lions in their camp and the manatee in the pond in front of you. There is quite a lot of wildlife that has moved around the unit as well. We also had the opportunity to see the porcupine one evening. Very well equipped for loadshedding too! Would just suggest that the cleaning lady just looks more thoroughly and makes sure when she leaves the unit that everything is closed and locked again. We were surprised with baboons who stole and looted all our food.
The layout, facilities and service were exceptional. Highly recommend.
Once you get to the location, the view is incredible, and you will not be disappointed. The house itself is small, but well laid out. A few things that can be improved on: None of the bedrooms had bedside lamps, making it really difficult to see once you put the lights off. The bathroom/toilet mats were very dirty when we got there and not replaced, and after day 2, there was no spare toilet paper in the house. These are basics that should be standard. I did highlight this to our hostess on our departure, and she offered us a discount on our next stay. Unfortunately, there are so many options to stay that we will probably not be back.

The most beautiful view with a luxurious touch. The owner was fantastic and you have everything available there for a great holiday with a family. Everything was excellently looked after and you also had two areas to barbecue in the evenings with a really cool splash pool with a view of the pond. The only recommendation we would make is to get WiFi at the unit. The cell phone signal was very bad and it was difficult to communicate with friends and family.

We really enjoyed the long weekend. Everything worked and nothing was a problem. The cleaning service was a big plus. Nice to admire the view on the stoep. Goats and warthogs came to visit. Lions heard every morning and evening. Michelle, the owner, was very friendly and helped us with directions. Mabalingwe is big. Would stay at The View again anytime.

The View Lodge is a 'must-stay' in Mabelingwe. Lovely splash pool to enjoy the view. Fantastic porch with kudus that pass by in the early morning and late afternoon. Very neat, well equipped.
Very nice, the view was amazing and the place very nicely maintained. Suggestions: to get a generator for SA's power problems and install WiFi in the unit.

Clean and tidy. Big 5 seen. More beautiful than in photos. Was very surprised, everything was perfect! Will maybe just suggest some solar panels for the future, especially for guests from overseas who don't understand Eskom yet. There was an unexpected person who went to read power, maybe he could have just warned us at the gate, quite startled when that person just suddenly stood there. Nothing to complain about, just suggestion.

It's clear to see why it is called The View - the view honestly cannot be beaten. We absolutely loved our time here. The house was spotlessly clean and extremely well equipped - there was nothing that we needed and couldn't find. We also really appreciated the emergency lighting for loadshedding, that was very handy. The sleeping arrangements were perfect for our family and my teenage daughters loved the loft. In the evenings we would sit on the patio or around the fire and listen to the sounds of the hippos and the lions - it was incredible. We did our own game drives around the park and we had epic sightings. We can't wait to come back - we'll definitely return.

There are many animals that come to visit the house. Even wild boars and a muskellunge cat. The air conditioning and all the facilities make it very nice and really a "stress free zone".

We had a wonderful stay at The View. The unit was exceptional; it was clean, neat, and well maintained. The kitchen was very well equipped. Each room, including bathrooms, has a battery-operated light for loadshedding. The buck, warthog and other small game come right up to the house, in the evenings you can hear hippos at the waterhole and lions from the nearby lion camp.
Definitely a recommendation if you want to get out of the city and relax among the animals. Lots of fun for the kids too.
There are also nocturnal animals that come to eat at the house. Affordable, very neat! Very nice view!

We loved staying at the view. From the welcome committee of kudu and warthogs, to the goodnight and early morning roar of the lions we had a great time. The house was beautifully decorated with every single attention to detail thought of. The views from every space was spectacular. The plunge pool was a real luxury. I can highly recommend this property. We cannot wait to visit again.

We saw so many animals, especially at night, so close-by. Super fire pit/ boma and the outside shower was enjoyed, hot water and view of stars. Perfectly clean, cleaning lady daily, everything we needed. Also have access to the facilities at the resort. Really great drives and places to stop and picnic. Wow!

Bed linen can be replaced, tired, towels are not sufficient, only 2 small hand towels for 8 guests.
Wonderful stay stairs to the unit was a bit difficult for me as i am on crutches but absolutely worth it wonderful stay we enjoyed everything outside shower and swimming pool even though it was a little cold.

The View's bedroom listing is misleading as it is really only a 2 bedroom with the 3rd bedroom being an open loft above the kitchen and and in the lounge area. Definitely not great for an adult to have as a bedroom.
Very nice stay and very nice place.
The View is one of the best I have stayed in Mabalingwe with fish eagle and hippo noises in the morning. You can also hear the roar of the lion from the house. The game drive was very well done and managed to see Elephant, Rhino and Buffalos. On the downside, the Mabalingwe entrance needs a clean up as there is rubble close to the horse stables and the restaurant is in desperate need of a chef.

We had loadshedding during our stay, including at night, and fortunately, we had brought candles and a battery light with us - the owner needs to supply those in the house. Also, we had no water during loadshedding - that needs to be communicated.

My wife and I recently stayed in The View Lodge with a friend. The layout of the lodge provides enough privacy but is also built in such a way that encourages long hours of relaxation and chats around the patio table next to the braai or around the boma fire. The owners provide all the information you need to have a wonderful experience and Michelle is a splendid host! The kitchen has everything you need and more. What a relief to find the hot flask and cups perfect for coffee on your early morning game drive! We loved the spectacular views and waking up to calls of the resident Fish Eagles. The animals visiting the lodge on daily basis kept us thoroughly entertained! We wished we could stay longer!
The place's name is not The View for nothing. It really was an awesome getaway.
The View, as the name suggests, has a wonderful view of the valley and there is hardly any need to leave the comfortable home to fully relax and rest. Breakfast on the large veranda, or cocktails in the small pool both offer a wonderful view to face the day or greet the evenings. Fantastic location, barely 90 minutes from Pretoria.
As the name describes, this house has a beautiful view that amazes you every time. The property affords privacy and quiet even though it is close to other units. One experiences a feeling of security. The private swimming pool is a great treat as well as the goats and other animals that move around the unit all the time. The unit is well equipped with everything needed to make one's stay comfortable. Michelle provided us with a lot of information beforehand and we really appreciated it. We will definitely visit The View again.

The stay was very nice and pleasant with a beautiful location and view! The only feedback I feel would be of value is if you could please indicate that bedroom 3 is a loft. We were actually looking for a place to stay where none of the bedrooms was a loft, and this is not indicated anywhere in the photos or description. This can be especially a problem if all 3 couples have small children/babies.
We had a great time at The View in Mabalingwe, the pool, lawn, porch and boma are very special. We could see many animals from the porch. The ospreys, manatees, porcupines, kudus, warthogs kept us busy for most of our visit. Thank you also for the friendly service and support by Michelle.

House is very small for 8 guests and we were only six. House can definitely get aircons for price per night. Fan in loft was whirring and it was furiously hot. Neat unit. Beautiful location. I would recommend house for smaller group of guests and if house get aircon.
Was really a special weekend with friends and with our small children. Beautiful view with the manatees you can hear playing in the water and the lions roaring in the park. The elephants were the biggest treat when they came to drink water on the Saturday evening, literally 5 m from us. Weekend was unforgettable.

Could see and hear the hippos and fish-eagles as well as hear the lion from the nearby predator park. Very neat and stunning lodge with lovely splash pool and boma. Well equipped kitchen. Vehicle traffic is a tad noisy sometimes as sound reverberates from the water and valley below.

The bird sounds, especially the call of the Osprey and animals that practically come to visit the house, was a special experience. The manatees were visible and audible in the pond very close and at night even lions could be heard. Beautiful, comfortable, well-equipped house!
'The View' certainly lives up to its name with beautiful views over the dam and bush. The unit is very comfortable, well furnished, clean and has everything you need for a relaxing time in the bush. The little splash pool is a stunning addition and it's really nice that you don't have to pack up everything and go to the main pools to cool down. The Boma area is fantastic as well as the dining area on the patio. The location in the reserve I can only think must be one of the best. We saw so much from the patio daily and had visitors to the unit often which included warthog, kudu, monkeys and a variety of birds. Seeing, and hearing the Fish Eagle and the Vultures was a daily highlight as well as hearing the lions roar in the morning and evening was incredible. We were also lucky enough to hear elephants trumpeting in the night near the dam, view a thunderstorm from the unit, whilst the night sky was lit up by lightning over the bush. Michelle, the owner, was so friendly and provided all the information we needed and responded patiently to all our questions. Thank you for the hospitality and our family will definitely visit 'The View' again.

Loved our stay and hearing the lions every night. Stunning and a woman's touch in the house. Beds are super comfortable and cosy.
The place was neat and beautiful.
House and views were spectacular however not very clean. Bathrooms and floors were a bit suspect. Furthermore there wasn't any washing up liquid, or disinfection spray to clean any surface. Towel and bath mats looked used and not clean prior to our arrival. Disappointing as location and view were spectacular.
Home is lovely downstairs. Ideal for 4 adults and max 2 children. Loft not ideal.

Very convenient, but very small. Sound goes through the house and there is no privacy wherever you are.
We were welcomed with a live potted plant on the large and spacious porch. The house is large and spacious, tastefully furnished with a breathtaking view. There is plenty of cutlery, glasses, mugs and bowls. We had a great time on the big deck by the splash pool and hung out in the lapa until late at night. Michelle is the perfect hostess who made us feel at home from reception with her personal attention. The soaps, hand wash soap and hand cream and body wash and body creams were a bonus. The daily visits of the warthog, wild boar, muskrats, guinea fowl and pheasants were a delightful bonus. I recommend The View anytime and we will definitely stay there again. Thank you very much Michelle. You are a star. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our time there.

Incredible house perfectly located in the mountains with a wonderful view, very neat house and the owner really makes a lot of effort to make everything as pleasant as possible.
We went to The View with two families. We found that there was enough space for us, however there were two very small children. I would say max, it should be a 6 sleeper. We enjoyed the location in the bush and it was quite safe. The cleaners should come to clean at least twice a day for so many people. We would use the dishes at night, then have nothing to use in the morning for a cooked breakfast. All in all, it was very good and we all enjoyed ourselves.
