"Most amazing place and people ever."

The owner, Uncle Charl, is just amazing. He goes out of his way to make you feel at home.

The only problem we had was flow of water in the shower and difficulty opening the door from the inside.

The landlord seemed to not understand hospitality principles. No explanation on how the alarm and other things work. He was just not clued up and even indicated that he does not know how other things operate like TV.

It is very clean and safe. The staff were very helpful.

However, it needs to be cleaner than what it is now. Floors need to be polished and Venetian blinds to be dusted. Clear the place of junk like old furniture or put away where guests will not see. There is no Wi-Fi so advert needs to be updated. Would like to visit again I liked the place.

My experience of our stay at Tholo Lodge in Zeerust was anything but pleasant! When we arrived it was a deserted picture - not a soul in sight! I was extremely disappointed with the appearance of the "lodge". It was very neglected and did not look at all like the photos on the web page. The entrance to the premises and parking were not controlled at all. It was wide open and appeared very unsafe. After a few minutes of waiting in the car, a man came under the roof with a wheelbarrow and signaled to me where I should go. Very skeptical I started walking in the direction he pointed. The awning's plastic roof was hanging in tatters and looked like something out of a bad thriller. The place was really messy! Remains of a burned palm tree were also lying around. I entered a door that was the entrance to the bar. There I was greeted by a young, poorly groomed man and a girl. The power was out after the rainstorm. He went to show me the rooms. The picture of the courtyard was sad. An empty liquor carton decorated the place. There was a beer box with sand in it (probably for the 2 cats that were walking around there) which was falling apart. The doors and wooden frames have not seen a paintbrush for a long time and the thatched roof has also been torn apart by birds and is noticeably not properly maintained. The man had some difficulty unlocking the door due to a worn lock. At first glance and poor light, the room didn't look too bad. It wasn't until I looked around alone and opened the curtains that I saw one of the bedroom windows was broken and the burglar bars had been bent open and tried to close again not too long ago. When I asked the man about this, he said it was a drunk guest who did it. Surely that wasn't the right story! The toilet seat was also broken and a towel rail was broken. The mattresses were also worn and should have been replaced a long time ago. A long-legged spider greeted me from its web on the floor in the lower left. At least the bedding looked clean again.

We got there and the door was locked but there where people at the bar which they all saw us just when we where about to return that's when they called us...the room was just ohk but not clean coz there where spiders by the toilet...it was very dusty outside ...We where worried about safety as there is no gate . Our car was not safe at Tholo. When we left in the morning there was no one to assist nor to thank us for the support we gave to Tholo ...

"It's a nice and clean place."

Tholo Lodge is not far from town, nice and clean, was nicely accommodated with no hassles.

"Was lovely and relaxing accommodation."

We enjoyed the chalet, it was practical, comfortable and tidy, with nice coffee facilities and a fridge. The breakfast was outstanding, delicious over and over. It's clear that Adele has a passion for what she does, and the Dove soap in the shower was a nice treat! We will definitely stay there again.

The place looks a bit dodgy, though the stay was pleasant. The surroundings do not inspire confidence and the lack of a front gate meant that everybody has access to the premises from the street. The owners should invest more in the garden to make the place more welcoming to guests

It was loud in the night where other guests used the bar for entertainment. We hardly slept.

"Not at all as desired."

Reception was not aware of our booking. The room had insects in it which were pointed out to the bartender who in turn did nothing about it. The television did not work and after a complaint it could not be repaired. The bathroom had no door on it. The shower was missing a panel. No shower mats were provided. The kettle in the room was missing. Music in the bar area was deafening and continued until 3.45am. Drink bottles were lying in large quantities in the corner of the parking area upon arrival. I would not recommend anyone to use the accommodation.

Just spent 1 night. Booked on short notice, luckily they could help out. Very hospitable people and friendly. Rooms clean and neat.

"Not what we thought it was."

The description online is completely different from what it really is. Perhaps the people should first be informed about the loud music that is played in the bar every night with all the regulars who hang out there before people (especially the older guard) book a place. The music is indeed turned off at 23h00, but the people in the bar make even more noise than the music. If we had known this from the beginning, we would not have stayed there at all.

"There was little interaction from the host."

Was not informed about where the fridge was. There was no DStv available. There were spiders in the room. All in all not a very pleasant stay.

"VERY loud music into the early morning hours."

There was VERY loud music playing into the early morning hours and then the owner opened the door the next day still dressed in pyjamas. Terrible experience!

"Disappointing! We didn't even stay to sleep."

All the rooms open straight onto the back of the pub. We were greeted with deafening music and upon enquiry, we were told that it would be turned down from 11:00 p.m. and completely off by 01:00 a.m. This is not at all the peaceful bushveld weekend we expected. We didn't even sleep - got into our car and drove to Rustenburg!

"Friendly staff and comfortable room."

Once the revamp is done it will be lovely. Our newly finished room was nicely furnished and the staff friendly and helpful. Pub a little noisy when you're trying to work, but music went off at a reasonable hour.
