We had a great stay and had a nice chat with the owner. As fellow guest house owners we understand the industry and it would have been nice if the single beds worked as a double bed too. Just a suggestion. It's not the fault, but the access to the guest house is difficult with a low vehicle. Shame what the town's roads look like.

The room and bathroom were in a neat condition. The owners can be more involved and make sure everything is in order. There was no dish soap and no dish towel. Only 2 pieces of rusk in the container. We would also prefer that there are flat sheets over the beds. It was too hot for a duvet. But despite these complaints we will use it again if necessary and I would recommend the accommodation to other people.

Very quiet, peaceful night's sleep. The dogs were very calm and the place was painstakingly tidy. Everything works.

The guest house is located in a quiet neighborhood. I don't think the directions to Thorn Ikhaya are all easy and clear! Fortunately, by asking we easily reached our destination! Street names are not always clearly indicated! The stay was pleasant. The host may provide more hanging and placing space in the bathroom.

Only arrived late at night (20:30) and was kindly received and everything thoroughly explained and pointed out.

We chose Thorn Ikhaya based on its good reviews on the website, but our experience was disappointing. Although both beds had electric blankets, there were no top sheets, which meant we had to sleep directly under the quilt/duvet. Old correspondence from previous guests was found in the bedside table, as well as in one of the kitchen cupboards. There were no forks or spoons in the room in this self-catering unit, and we had to request them. According to the owner, some of the previous guests must have carried it away. She also admitted that she didn't check the unit before we were put in it. So it makes one wonder if the quilt was ever washed after previous guests slept under it! Apart from two barstools at the built-in table, there were no other chairs in the room or a stand on which to place suitcases. There is no hanging space in the bathroom for clothes, nor a bathroom cabinet or something to place toiletries while using the facility. We just used some of the bar stools for the purpose. The "braai facilities" consist of a loin, a portable grill. Unfortunately, the untidy backyard of the house cannot be missed when entering or exiting the unit. There is also just a plain door between the unit and the adjoining unit, and the wardrobe has been moved in front of it. Fortunately, there were no guests in the latter, because it must have an impact on guests' privacy. An electric two-plate stove in the kitchen cupboard is very old and dirty.

Hopetown was a first time visit for us on our journey to the Cederberg. When you arrive in Hopetown you will soon see the Thorn iKhaya is a hidden gem. Clean, friendly hosts and very well-equipped for a stopover, and most of all it is dog friendly. We would highly recommend Thorn iKhaya in Hopetown for a day or two stopover.

Well-appointed accommodation, the room had a microwave, large fridge, all the utensils you may require as well as coffee, tea and rusks were provided. The shower offers great water pressure and the towels where brand new clean and soft :) Excellent host, friendly and more than willing to assist with anything.

The aircon was very welcome and your vehicle is safely parked behind a gate in front of the apartment. We will definitely be back again.
