Perfect overnight accommodation. Friendly and helpful hostess. Very cute room and well equipped. We will definitely stay here again.

Thorn Tree Lodge is a lovely overnight stop North of Bloemfontein. Wonderfully quiet after all the hustle and bustle of the busy road. Rooms nice and big and comfortable. Dollie willing to go the extra mile and get ready with a hearty breakfast before the new day's long drive.

As a Gautenger, I was concerned about safety and security. The rooms are located on a nice plot just outside Bloem. There is no fence or even a gate around the property. There is free access from the road for anyone to get to the cars and the rooms.
Beautiful rooms with fantastic beds. Quiet area. Delicious breakfast. The hostess is friendly and very helpful. Will definitely stay there again in the future.

After a long journey it was refreshing for the soul to be able to rest at Thorn Tree Lodge. I enjoyed a delicious dinner there as well as a very early, upon my request, excellent breakfast.
Thorn Tree Lodge is a convenient overnight stop just outside Bloemfontein. You just feel like you are visiting somewhere in the woods. Magda is extremely friendly and helpful. We were not aware that breakfast was included in the stay, and it was a nice surprise. The room is well furnished and the bed is wonderfully comfortable.
We were warmly received. Service was followed up.
From the time we arrived to the time we left, everything was spot on, even if I got our date wrong. Breakfast was freshly prepared even though we didn't even expect it, and was included.
Friendly, down to earth people. Room was clean and tidy.
Although the management tries to keep the standard up I think the location of the "lodge" is the biggest problem. The interview leaves a lot to be desired. Shower floor not up to standard. Toilet paper holder loose and hanging askew. Smoke from neighboring guests can be clearly smelled in room.
The place is beautiful. Clean, tidy and quiet. We slept well before embarking on the last leg of our journey. It is very conveniently close to the highway.
It had been a very nice experience and the breakfast was excellent and more than enough. The houses are very neat and clean and it feels like you are on the farm. Very peaceful and beautiful surroundings.
Thorn Tree is easily accessible from main road. Our dogs enjoyed the space. Good value for money.

Thorn Tree Lodge is a nice and quiet outside town residence. Nice that it's so small (three rooms). No complaints.
For our purposes the location was perfect as we attended a wedding close by. Dollie was a super host and ready to tend to our needs which is more than what you expect from self-catering accommodation.
We stayed at Thorn Tree after attending a wedding at a nearby venue. It's close, affordable and nice and quiet. Good choice for guests of the nearby venues.
Food was delicious. Blypek was neat, clean and we felt very safe. Dollie is an amazing hostess. Will recommend.

Friendly reception from the host, Dollie, she made us and our 2 doggies feel at home. Made sure throughout that we had everything we needed. She saw we were animal lovers so she introduced her 2 little dogs to us, also to let them socialize with our dogs. Neat accommodation and the old little cabin was a unique alternative to a normal chalet. Grounds are in a great condition we were able to walk bare foot despite the thorn trees growing there.
Nice and quiet, well equipped, will stay there again.

Upon arrival there was still dirty dish water in the sinks, other guests had to come and collect cutlery from our unit and the mosquitoes were plentiful. We felt unsafe as it is very remote.

If you like friendly people, the feeling of being in the woods and a comfortable place to break away, Thorn Tree Lodge is the place for you and your family or relatives. Our time there was comfortable and very enjoyable.
We often go to Cape Town and will definitely spend the night here again. The place is furnished with more than what is needed. Very nice and very hospitable. Definitely pet friendly. Very nice farm atmosphere away from the city. We were very satisfied.

I really enjoyed my stay at Thorn Tree Lodge. If you like to live outside the city and are looking for enough space for pets, this is the ideal place to stay. Fully equipped kitchen, dining room and living room in addition to bedrooms, and a hostess who goes out of her way to make sure you are happy.
The place was neat and comfortable to spend the night! The bed was comfortable and the bedding clean. I would recommend the place to any traveler.
However, it is a bit out of Bloemfontein and difficult to get to, which makes it not convenient for overnight stays. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We traveled with two large dogs and they were willing to accommodate us.
