The self-catering accommodation comprises 4 uniquely designed and set-up houses accommodating between 2 and 8 guests per unit, all of which enjoy modern comforts. The Boathouse accommodates 2 guests, Cob Cottage accommodates 6 guests, Heron House accommodates 6 guests and Zebra Lodge can accommodate 9 guests.
The bedrooms are furnished with queen-sized beds while the bigger units have single-bed bedrooms as well. The houses are right on the banks of the Breede River, just metres from the water. Each house has a verandah, braai facilities, cell phone signal, wireless internet access and a fully equipped kitchen including a bar fridge, a stove and oven, a microwave, a kettle, a toaster, and a chest freezer.
There is a communal riverside lapa where guests can braai. Guests will also have access to communal hot tubs, while some of the houses have their own hot tubs, taking relaxation to the next level.
There is bird watching and canoeing right at the lodge. Canoes are free to explore the river. De Hoop Nature Reserve is 14 km away and other activities include hiking the Potberg Mountains, cycling the mountain bike trails, paddling the river, visiting a wine farm, or just relaxing on the banks of the river.

From the moment we arrived at the Tides River Lodge it was fantastic. We had a very friendly reception. We traveled by motorbike and were tired. Patience showed us our house and immediately brought wood for our barbecue. The house was very clean, spacious and well equipped. Absolutely everything we needed was there. We will definitely visit again soon.

We were alone at the resort and I think that's what made it even more special. It was so clean and well equipped. I would say only negative is that it should have an all weather outdoor space, just cover the patio with some chromodeck!
The wood available for the indoor fireplace sits outside in the rain so better bring your own. The thatch roof leaked in a few places. On sunny days neither of these items would be a problem.
Comfortable and well-maintained cottages (although Kingfisher cottage really could use a proper stove/oven), friendly staff, and lovely location. Kayaking and bird-watching on the river was a highlight, and there's a generous grassy riverfront area but there's not a lot of area to stroll or wander directly on the grounds. But a very peaceful place in a great area and a good base for exploring.
It's the perfect location, literally on the river bank. Lovely warm water to swim in. Beautiful waterfowl to watch over a cocktail, while the sun's last rays gently color the ridges. The spacious house has a large kitchen and a nice sitting area downstairs. However, we couldn't get enough of the surroundings and so we barbecued outside and hung out on the porch until late with the water babbling in our ears. And enjoyed breakfast on the porch again. The rooms are unfortunately sparsely furnished, insufficient space for hanging clothes and unpacking. Even just a place to put one's bag will help. There is also only one room with a mirror and no hairdryer.
Our chalet was clean, but the living area was worn and the bathroom needed attention. The shower is in the tub and doesn't spray well, and there isn't even a door or shower curtain. It needs attention.
The most beautiful view and well equipped cottages. The driver goes out of his way to make it an unforgettable visit. One forgets about all the droughts and challenges and enjoys a God-given beauty. Will definitely visit again.
We enjoyed it very much. The family rowed on the river, swam and barbecued. The men could ride bicycles. It was a great experience for the whole family. Apartment was well equipped and very tidy.
The ideal getaway in nature, but luxurious facilities at the tip of your fingers. Have been there three times and will definitely come again.
Andre was very helpful and made sure our stay was as pleasant as possible. When he found out we booked a three night stay he moved us to the bigger room next door. Two separate groups of guest stayed in the smaller unit for the long weekend. So in that way we obtained the more spacious unit. The lawn and water gives many options for activities - for young and old.
Ideal accommodation if you just need a place for the night. The road was terrible but luckily we had a high SUV, don't think a vehicle with low ground clearance would be sufficient. The room is relatively well-appointed, unfortunately no basin to wash dishes and no aircon or fan.

The Boathouse is comfortable and spacious. The staff were friendly and helpful. The river is lovely, there is a variety of bird species and the water is warm and great for swimming.
